Super happy for you. You’re such a kind, genuine and cool dude that you really deserved it. You could be a Dick in real life but from what I’ve been seeing, you seem to really do good stuff. I met one of your buddies at mission bay launch the other day. I’m sure we’ll run into each other some day. Take care.
That's my worst nightmare on a big fishing charter like that. You have a lot of googans that have no idea what they're doing or they just don't care that you're fighting a big fish and they don't get out of your way and you lose the fish because of it. Good on ya for your positive attitude, though. You did better than I would've done!
Thanks Mario. I really like fishing with Captain Mike and Captain Rob. They fish hard and have a good time doing it. I’m always laughing when I’m on that boat. Tight lines!
That was a biggin’! Congrats! Love your videos and the crew/captain giving its briefing, many people that never gone on these type of trips never get to hear that part. 🤙
Glad you included this talk by the Captain. (Even if it was taken on June 18th. LOL.) Good info everyone should know before getting on the boat when chasing the bigger class BFT. Is that Terez an XH or XXH?
Thank you for watching and the feedback. I’m not sure the exact model of the terez and I don’t have it near me so I can’t honestly answer that question right now.
I believe Captain Robert (the one who gives the speech) is on the Spirit of Adventure 80 now. I would call the landing and double check. Thanks for watching!
Wow, just got back from my second trip on the grande, and they are a good crew but kinda rude for no reason. They seem like they know we are going to get skunked before we do. This boat looks like a blast 💥
Get it! Hopefully they have some of the same crew. Both Captain Mike and Captain Rob from these videos are no longer on the boat. The deckhand Nicco is still around and I believe working on the boat next season. Also hopefully the bluefin show up good by May. I would shoot for end of May or early June for an even better shot. That’s the most difficult thing about Tuna Sportfishing is getting on the right trip when the fish a biting. Good luck Jackie! Tight lines!!!
Hey Tuan. I had a avet lx raptor on a shimano terez rod (rated 60-100lb) with 80lb spectra/braided main line and a 80lb mono top shot that I tied the colt sniper Katy Perry color lure to. Thanks for watching!!
@@SDFishandSips wow thats an awesome setup. You dont think thats a little undergunned for 80lb? And how much line do you have total and lenth of top shot? Reason asking is because i was thinking of going Hx raptor with 80lb but guys at shop recommended the hxw for more line.
Glow in the dark flat fall, SK, knife jigs, and colt snipers are all good jigs. Heavier lure 150gram and above are best to get down to where the bigger bluefin are in the school. Most of the time there will be smaller grade bluefin near the surface and bigger bluefin down below.

That is a Shimano Terez rod. Rated 60lb-100lb heavy power but is super skinny. I’m looking at getting a new rod for my big tuna setup. What do you recommend.
@@SDFishandSips so basically it is a 30-50 pound moderate rod. that looks like a lx (2 speed?) then a 50 lb. calstar H 30-80 or if it is a raptor a XH 40-100. the phenix axis gives you a lot of choices for the rod length ( 7'2, 7'8 or up to 8'2) at these ratings. or you can go okuma custom PCH xh. mercedes is the united composite terminator (50 lb) or predator (60lb)

Hi, been following your vids for about 6 months or so. Always entertaining. Have a few questions. Was the Terez a conventional rod or a rail rod and if so what was it rated? Looked like it was under great strain on the rail. The other question has to do with the sinker rig. Did you use the Katy Perry with the sinker rig or just flat fall it? Using a jig with a sinker rig -- if it wouldn't foul your line -- would be much better than live bait for several reasons. Oh, and how many grams for the Katy Perry? Best.
