@@SDKook What length stick were you using to get those underwater shots ? I have one that is 106 inches and wondering if I need a longer one ;) Also, what underwater case were you using ?
Knocking the dust off on the Grande on the 24th. Very rarely do day or overnight trips. Then have two 3 day charters on the Pegasus and Tomahawk. Then a couple 2.5 days on the Legend and Top gun 80. All charters but the Grande and Legend. Trying to get the bft cow, top is only 187 so far.
I feel you on the traffic. I used to have family in Alaska but it's been a very long time since I've been up there. The wife and I want to go catch some monster lings and halibut soon though.
That underwater shot at 6:51 was awesome... how did you get that zoom out? Really cool! Great vid and congrats on the PB 👏 (edit: NEVER seen line cut into a BFT's mouth like that before... miracle landing on 60lb. that dude lucked out!)
@wingshooter831 the Aztec is always a good choice but hard to get on. The bunks on the Relentless are HUGE and they have mini staterooms with AC. But from what I hear the PQ is going to be tough to beat. The crew on Tribute was awesome too.
The underwater shots are amazing. Water is so clear. Nice fish!!
Thank you! Yeah I'm hoping to get more shots like that going forward.

You and me both! 😂
Sick ass footage!
Thanks buddy! I'm hoping for more of that this season!
@@SDKook what was your setup for daytime? sinker, leader hook size?
@@mikeLssd 6oz sinker 15ft of 80lb fluorocarbon leader to a 1/0 trokar hook
@@SDKook good stuff man. congrats on the catches!
I don’t miss the traffic. Glad to be an Alaskan. One day I want to come down for that bluefin action though

Thanks. Yeah you have to have a 360 cam to make it happen. And yes super lucky especially after fighting it for like an hour and a half.
Another sick vid!! Can’t wait to smack some BFT my trip is next month. CHEERS 🍻
Thanks and good luck on your trip! Things are looking good!
What boat are you going on next month?
@@SDKook I haven’t booked yet, usually the PQ, but I’m gunna try a new boat this trip. Any recommendations? Looking for a 1.5

@@SDKook thanks man, gunna check those out. Would like to share the rail and a cold beer with you on a trip, hit me up 🍻
Damn daytime biggins
Always super fun to see them in the daytime.
Nothing like the 5 as a parking lot... My favorite boat out of Seaforth is the Pacific Voyager. Oronoz up on the bait tank screaming! Good times.
Nobody knows how to drive in rain around here 😂
happy this video came up on my feed. awesome underwater shots. Do you mind sharing what camera you were using. Great video!
Thanks! Yeah it's the Insta360 X3
Hell yeah
Get em!!
6:44 What was the name of that kid again? I was on the same boat a few months ago and he helped me land a nice yellowtail but I never got his name
Unfortunately I don't know either! Crew was super helpful though.
@@SDKook Its alright, the crew that I had was one of the best. Super helpful and prioritized the people who hadn’t caught a fish yet
The call to sinker when boiling on surface paid off! No Armature.
They may have been boilin but I didn't see any surface hookups. Sometimes the different bait gets smoked
10:25 It's night bite, not night bight.
Unless you're sailing I guess.😉
Haha yeah my wife already corrected me on that! This is what happens when you're editing film at midnight.
HEY KOOK, GREAT TRIP OUT, EVERY ONE IS SMILING, HOW MANY MILES OUT?
It was an awesome day! About 120 miles south of San Diego. Long trip! 12 hours to get there.
At first I was wondering why you were using a sinker rig when they were on top lol, seems like surface ones were finicky
Yeah it was the first fish hooked of the day so I usually try to go heavy at first on sinker. It was about 50/50 between flyline bites and sinker.
Awesome! How many oz’s sinker you guys running?
I would be mad if someone fought a fish with my rod on the edge of that windless though.
Thanks! I was using a 6oz sinker so with the current it really is more like flying with some depth. The windlass was a little smoother than it looks 😂
Great video. Congrats on your pb. At what depth were they biting during the day?
Thank you! They were biting fly line right on the surface and also sinker rig down to about 300ft. I was bit at about 200ft.
