What an awesome day on the water! I love fishing La Jolla… it’s a beautiful fishing destination and being able to drive out onto the beach and unload your gear makes it even better! I don’t do much rock fishing, but I would take that monster Lingcod anytime. You definitely killed it out there. Great video for sure and a very entertaining RUclips fishing channel. Keep up the good work!🎣
I have a small simple fishing kayak and we went out a few months ago to La Jolla and let me tell you to say I was freaking out the whole time is an understatement. I only caught a few calicos. Had I caught something bigger I think I would have tossed my cookies from so much nerves. Not to mention on the way in I rolled the boat. In the end it was a great day and I cant wait to do it again.
Great vid. I’m a experienced lake fisherman. I don’t want your secrets BUT I’m 72 and I’m going to be in S Diego for a month. Never fish in the ocean with my Yak. I Want to fish the area and La Jolla looks cool in my 12’ Hobie pro. How far in miles round trip would i typically need to pedal. Also what depths would I be fishing. And do you have a good spot to launch my Yak. Thank bro Bury the STEEL
Thank you! There is only one place to launch in La Jolla, search Google maps for La Jolla Shores Boat Launch. It is not an actual launch ramp you have to launch through the surf from the beach. Drive onto the sand, unload then go find street parking a few blocks away. It's 1 mile from the launch ramp to the legal fishing grounds but not uncommon to do a 5 to 8 mile day in total. Once you get to the fishing grounds go look for live bait to sabiki. You'll be fishing anywhere from 60 to 120ft, or as deep as 350 or more if you go for rockfish in the canyon to the north. Toughest part is getting nice conditions for the launch and return trip. Otherwise, enjoy its beautiful out there!
that was i sick double, I am new to fishing La Jolla in my 16.5 aluminum boat. Went out yesterday and only caught one White fish in 150ft on the edge of structure. The water was nothing as nice as in your video, had some real nice rollers. Any pointers/advice on some better fishing days like yours?
Yeah I was out my boat yesterday, very rocky conditions. If you start catching whitefish, move unless you want to keep them... They are delicious but they are super aggressive and it'll be the only thing you catch. They'll end up eating most of you bait unless you downside your hook to very small.
@@110welding I typically do well at the edge of the drop offs. But plenty of fish caught at that depth just by finding random structure. Plenty of it out there just have to put in the time to find it!
If you're rockfishing I suggest staying near the edge of the canyon to start. It's 250 to 300ft of water. It isn't far past the point but you have to go north a little bit. Or this time of year, look for lobster pots they show you where structure is.
Sometimes my wife will take a Dramamine before kayaking if it's bumpy. I personally don't like it and rarely get sea sick. Good rule of thumb is to keep your eye on the horizon and don't think about it. I've noticed that if I'm distracted fishing I feel better!

Thanks for the support! Love your channel as well, and I spent a lot of time watching your videos before I got my revo 13. Helped a lot. Tight lines!
What a day… those are the ones you’ll remember until the last day.
Definitely. I remember it like yesterday.
wow man what a great day! Beautiful fish and beautiful weather to boot. Can't wait to get back there.
It was awesome. This wind and swell had been a bit of a bummer but hopefully soon we can get past the launch in some warm weather
Nice variety

The surf takes a little practice but well worth it! If you do it long enough you are guaranteed to flip you yak at some point.
Wow that was a good day
It was great, thanks for watching!
Duuuuude! That was sick man!

Is is better to be on top of the structure or edge 🤔. We got out to about 190' but no luck...

Nice one!! How deep did you hook up that Ling?
170ft. Thanks!
what kind of kayak is tht. i like the width, i imagine it gives you more stability. Could you kindly tell me the name of your kayak please?
Hobie Pro Angler 14. Super stable, but also very heavy for a kayak!
Wow I thought sheepshead only bite on shrimp. Can you catch lingcod from shore in LA Jolla ?
No, you can't fish from the beach in La Jolla. Maybe a little further south but a lingcod would be tough.
There’s lingcod in La Jolla 😳😳😳 sheeesh
Yeah buddy! Go get one!
1 fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish.
How far do you have to paddle out and what land mark should I be heading towards I’ve been out 3 times not caught but two fish I’m new

@@SDKook ok cool thanks a lot bro
Would love to fish with you. Im a marine stationed on Miramar
Nice! I'm usually out there if I have a free weekend! Get yourself a yak and let's go!
I want to learn to get me a kayaker lol 😂
How can I work on motion sickness I had an amazing day of fishing yesterday but felt like death how do you do it

Just a FYI, that was a hog fish, not a sheeps head.
Just a fyi thats clearly not a hogfish because it doesnt have the extended fin on the top.
