Just purchased a 1985 Speedmaster 145.0022 cal 861 two days ago. This presentation validated my decision to buy the Speedmaster. I've added the Horological Society to my watch list. Excellent presentation. Very educational.
the newly released Cal 321 "Ed White" is literally the only Omega Speedmaster (much less Omega watch) that I'd buy... it's a horoligicaly very significant watch.. up there with anything from Rolex and Patek..
I was expecting an expert sharing the very technical aspects between the cal. 321 and 861, especially why they made such changes, what was the shortcomings (I suppose there was) of 321 so thus they want to or have to made that change. But no, none of these.
Please , how could NASA used the 105.012-65 on their astronauts of Apollo 11 missions in 1969 ? The watches were stored since 1965 ? Anyone could help me with this question ?
AFAIK the last tests were made in 1977-78 to re-qualify for the STS space shuttle program. Nowadays, since 1998 all ISS spacefarers wear Omega X-33 Speedmaster ! #MoonwatchUniverse
The last Speedmaster on the Moon: In fact during Apollo 17, Eugene Cernan wore his NASA-issued 105.003 (n° 28) on a Jacoby Bender Champion steel mesh bracelet underneath the spacesuit. Cernan had worn that 105.003 during Gemini IX and Apollo 10. Over the Apollo 17 spacesuit he wore NASA-issued Speedmaster 105.012-66 (n° 67). #MoonwatchUniverse 1:03:03 During Gemini IV Edward White only made a single spacewalk, wearing two Omega Speedmaster 105.003-63 chronographs, as was his crewmate James McDivitt. These Omegas are incredible! These are no Limited Edition, this no Speedy Tuesday, this is no Olympic occasion watch, this is no Anniversary special, this is no Manufactured hype. These are the original Speedmasters that flew to the moon and back that everyone Omega homage watch has copied since. These are no over-polished Ed White special! These are the true originals that those astronauts flew to the moon ACTUALLY wore. Move aside Snoopy; God your creator has arrived!
Good presentation but could be much better... not enough details or comparisons with the various speedmasters... and the guy kept talking about what he sold in auction...this talk is not about him but about the watch!
Very disappointing. He missed all chances to describe what makes the caliber 321 special which was the whole point of the presentation. He does not even know why some ck2998’s refer to lollipop which literally all Speedmaster fans know. Who is this guy? I would have given a better lecture myself with zero watch making experience I guarantee you that.
Do yourself a favor and watch this at 1.25 speed.
Fantastic video. Makes me miss living in NYC and seeing these awesome presentations in person.

Looks like presenter is at his last breath he's so old and is barely able to speak. God.
