Congrats Kumu Tracie Lopes and halau !!!! I have never seen such a humble, graceful, kind, patient and passionate Kumu for both papa hula and olelo-mahalo mahalo mahalo !!! 🌸
Before it was because they wanted to sell the complete DVD of the festival. But they no longer make the DVDs. So their assertion they want to promote the culture rings hollow. 😠
This has always been a big frustration to me. I watch the first half but then I go to bed. The 3 hour time difference nails me at midnight our time which is 9pm Hawaiian time. Then the next day I watch the abbreviated versions of the ones I missed. It is missing the wonderful explanations given by each Kumu about their dance. There may be legal reasons why they do it this way, but I wish they wouldn't.
@@auntiebobbolink Merrie Monarch's main audience is the Japanese. The Japanese still buy CDs and DVDs, and the festival sells the DVDs to them. Also, they can't post the whole thing because of *copyright* from HNN
Don't live in Hawaii but love to see a continuing of the heritage ❤

Merrie monarch should make a website where we can pay to see the past Merrie monarch videos cuz I'm not sure who uses CD's anymore
Why is every video a clip and not the full performance? They're all missing the beginning and ending.
