She was sick too. She was on 2 silent days after the semifinal to rest her voice❤ she did amazing in the final😍
I recommend you to listen to her preformance in the Norwegian finale. She NAILED that whistle tone. Like many are saying in the comments, she was sick during the Eurovision finale.
She was recovering from a cold duing the national finals as well. But either way she's just amazing!

Loreen also nailed it better in the swedish finale… also the setting was way more impressive. It is not a small differense. Käärjä I think was better at Liverpool because the show had cooler effects.

All of her other performances were so amazing and full of energy and if you saw them you would see why that high note was sooo necessary. In this performance you can tell she knew her voice was shot and her confidence was just not there but she went out there and did it anyways!!! Good job Alessandra from USA

Zoe, great videos! You are absolutely correct saying that the artists have an insane schedule ahead of the live TV broadcasts (apart from press, pre-parties etc.). An average viewer will see the artist in 2 shows (Semi-Final & Final), but there is so much more happening at the background. This is Alessandra's schedule ahead of the Grand final - It will blow your mind!!!

I love Alessandra's singing so much. I also recommend watching Alessandra's Grand Prix performance. The high note was so much clearer in that one. Other than that, she's amazing!!
This one along with Marco Megnoni’s ”Due Vite” and “Cha Cha” were my family’s 3 favourites xo
Alessandra was my winner by far this year!! She got so robbed by the juries, but I'm so happy she made it to the top 5 after all ❤️

Yeah she sang on the track. In the MGP final in Norway after winning she sang it live. I believe this is the *semi final performance*, which was the worst televised performance she had. She ended up on vocal rest, not even allowed to speak for 2 days before the Jury&Final performances. Her whistle note is a bit better in the MGP National Final from earlier this year (even better than Eurovision final), when she sang an E6 instead of F6 but much fuller. I believe the idea of having that in there, as others mentioned is a battle-cry. In the music video (which I did not like btw), she essentially frees a lot of people at the end of the song. That said, they may have come up with the story to match wanting to have a whistle note in there, as she also mentioned that since she can do it and not many people do them live, she wanted to use all her tricks in her toolbox :)

I think the high note is supposed to represent some sort of a "battle cry" from the character described in the song "Queen of Kings" whom I think is described as a folkloric figure? At least that's how I interpreted it.
As a Norwegian I am so proud of her, she did better in the national selections bc she was sick during ESC but she still did amazing❤❤ also yes that is her singing the italian part in the beginning, she sang it live in her winner performance in the national selection

As a Norwegian Eurovision fan, I have to ask if you'd do a reaction to Ulrikke?
She was supposed to represent Norway in the canceled 2020 contest with "Attention" and she came 2nd to Alessandra in this years preselection in Norway with "Honestly". Would love to see/hear your analysis of either songs and her live performances from the MGP finals!
(She has a YT channel under her name so a quick search should find both the performances)

it wasn't really a song for eurovision but DAMN it was so good. One of those songs you listen to in a dark room to enjoy the perfect vocals. the esc live version is even better that the studio one, and that speaks a lot!
imo the artists from spain, norway, france, switzerland and cyprus had better vocals than Loreen
Hello. Alessandra's whistle note was a rapid change between F6 and E6.
Still a bit wierd though don't you think?
I wanted Norway to win, obciously, as I live in Norway, but other than that I really wanted this song to win. If anyone she made the highest jump in the public votes, she jumped from 15th to 5th. In comparison Israel jumped from 2nd to 3rd place, Finland jumped from 4th to 2nd, Italy jumped from 3rd to 4th, Sweden jumped from 1st to 1st, and finally Israel jumped from 2nd to 3rd.
So the highest jumped was made by Alessandra from 15th to 5th. Not enough to win, but she showed the biggest difference in jury and televotes..
I will also honestly admit that she got perfect whistlenote in the national finals, and kind of missed it a bit in semi-finals in Liverpool, but did a slightly better on finals.
I'm not sure why you chose the semifinal performance, her whistle note was sharp there. That's why it sounds random. It was better in the final, but her best performance was at MGP.
Also, I do not understand why you think she is an alto. She clearly has a very high range, and you can hear that she uses the bottom of it to hit the lowest notes in this song. It doesn't sound like that is where her voice is most comfortable.

Hi! Just wanted to say that the Eurovision Jury judges each song based on 4 perspectives, one of them being vocal performance. A lot of songs this year had a bunch of high notes to score some points with the jury. So that's why this song has that really high note.
?? One of the juries' 'perspectives' is vocal performance? Well I never. I think that goes without saying. It's like saying one of the things a referee looks for in a penalty kick is the ball crosses the goal line. So "a lot of songs this year had a bunch of high notes to score some points with the jury." How does that work? It obviously didn't work for her.
@@davidbentley4032 if you’ve seen her jury performance, sadly she didn’t hit her notes that well. So that could be why she didn’t get that many points from the jury. As to why I made this comment it’s because this jury system is new. Previously the jury was free to judge however they liked. But this year they made a change so that all juries have to judge from these 4 perspectives. I guess they made this change to make it more fair or something idk. This is why so many songs this year had really hard high notes. Why so many artists voices were more tired than usually. Because they knew the juries would judge them on vocal performance, who hit the hard notes etc.

No, there is no track. All vocal has to be performed live on stage. There is most likely a backing vocalist standing elsewhere on stage. The eurovision stages do have some intentional hiding places that by definition are still "on stage".
The only time I know off that a track has been used for vocals is Norway's entry "Grab the moment" by JOWST as part of ESC 2017. There it were quite heavily remixed. And personally I think they should have done the mixing live since all the vocals used for it were already sung earlier in the song, so it could be sampled live, but it weren't.
Also, in regards to all singing needing to be sung on stage is also a rule that has lead to some rather interesting stage designs over the years as to hide backing vocalists for "solo" acts.
The likely silliest entry were yet again in 2017, with Sweden's entry "I can't go on" by Robin Bengtsson. Since in the Swedish selection process he started the performance back stage out by the trailer dock. Literally having to walk a decent distance back stage to even get to the stage.
For ESC, this intro were "kept" mostly the same. Except a stage is a raised floor, so he couldn't just walk on the concrete floor, nor on a carpet. So a proper raised stage floor were built as a winding ramp extending out behind the main stage. Else he wouldn't be "on stage" for the first verse.
They’re allowed to have pre-recorded backing vocals, so long as the main vocals are sung live.

There’s something fishy going on. I refuse to believe the follwing can be correct. Juries gave Sweden 340 points and Norway 52! - The juries think that Sweden was 650% better. The people voted Norway at 216, and Sweden 243, a difference of just 27 votes, or 11%.! -They gave Austria twice as much 104. The people just 16! Spain 95, the people 5!! - Which planet do they live on? They same happend last year, and in 2019. If these, juries hadn’t ruined the results. Norway had won in 2019, finished 7th in 2022, and 3rd. this year. Enough is enough. It’s the people’s contest. -How can anyone let 5 Germans, have as much to say, as 80 million? Totally absurd. - I sincerely this was the last year with this unfair system.
Come on! The whistle note put it riiiiiight over the top!!!! Peppy wonderful beat song, great lyrics, a warrior she is, her voice excellent, she was robbed of her rightful win. The jury votes were rigged!

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach It was the semi-final show, because she was the first artist to performe in the first semi-final and at the end she says; "let's get Eurovision started". She did not say that at the grand finale. Her grand final show was better then the semi-final show in my opinion.

So much so, that I'd like to maybe make a request myself. My favourite band that is.
The song is called Monochrome, by Babymetal, (the first take version) The song is in Japanese, but that doesn't necessarily take away from her performance!
Originally this song is a rock song, but on the first take, they made an acoustic version of it, and I genuinely think the vocalist is one of the best vocalists around today!

I ALSO agree that her high note was too high. In fact, she went higher for absolutely no reason. She executed her original high note perfectly in other performances as well as in the studio version but I CRINGED so fast when she deviated for her lower high note, heard on the studio version, and did the higher note instead. It made me absolutely nervous because I wasn’t sure if that change alone would’ve affected her scoring. Overall she did great.

I think the 'look what I can do' party piece high note probably did for her with the professional juries. That they interpreted it as showing off. Which is exactly what it was.

I hate this song with a burning passion! Not just simply because I don’t like the song, the genera of music or stuff like that, (although it does probably influence my opinion), but the main reason I get annoyed when I hear this song is because it was THE WORST of all the songs in the melodi gran prix finals. We could have had a god damn electroswing party-jazz song! It would have been amazing!
