Hey, just found your video! Amazing reaction. A lot of people aren't really explaining what the rap is about: In the music video, nemo goes through multiple identities. They found themselves rapping during some point of their life and so that part represents it. If you listen to the lyrics of the rap, "Who decides what's wrong and right", it's another way of saying "Who decides who I am? And Who should decide what is right or wrong for me"? That's when nemo starts realizing who they are as a person. Hopefully this was helpful!
To all correcting her gendering! I understand your annoyance and it is ok to address it, but pls be as considerate as you preach. This music-teacher just wanted to show a genuine professional reaction to the quality of the song and singing. And in order to not be biased she went in without further background knowledge. I am glad she did that, bcs now I can show this to the people who claim that Nemo can not sing and expose the haters, that they hate just in order to hate and on basis of Nemos gender identity and not their capacity to sing.
I haven't been rude or anything, but she did react to their national final performance a while ago and it was pointed out to her several times in the comments then. Either she doesn't read the comments, or she's chosen not to take it into account...
No one is being rude. I didn't read a single rude comment. However if you were misgendered constantly you would find it more than just a simple slip up as well.
Thank you! I did not know they were using they them pronouns. Actually I think I only said "his" or "he" once. I spoke about the male larynx, which they have.... I appreciate your comment 🥰 a genuine mistake
Hi! I read as many of the comments as I can, however I get about 500 a day 🙈. I genuinely didn't see them about Neo using they them. I have since been educated. It was an honest mistake.
@ZoeStibiVocalCoach you actually said he many times in this video. It is just mattered with he/ him and that is why I can't repost this unless I want to offend my non-binary friends and even the non-binary people I work with at a charity I volunteer four. If it was just once or twice even my most sensitive non-binary friend would be accepting and understanding of it. I totally get that it was an honest mistake but it does make this particular video that otherwise has some very intelligent points made highly unshakable in certain communities. Not saying anything negative against you. We are all naive about something at practically every point in our lives so I totally get it. Just I know that some in the non-binary community because of friends I have and the work I do in a charity are still highly sensitive to being misgendered because maybe it wasn't too long ago that they left a very traumatic situation where they were physically, mentally, and vocally abused simply because of who they are, or maybe they are still in that situation, or maybe they've been out of that situation for a while but still haven't managed to shake the trauma or have managed to find any resources to help them shake the trauma. C for some of us, actually for a lot of us in the gay community, including non-binary people, the bullies that you see in certain places online insulting us and making fun of us or just a very tiny Drop in the Ocean of abuse that we've had to endure all our lives just simply because of The Way We Were born. Many of have spent the great majority of our childhoods and even sometimes into adulthood being physically and mentally and verbally abused by the people that are supposed to be our first and strongest allies and supporters - are families that we were born into. Many of us in the community even get thrown out on the streets when we are still children and disowned when we are still children just because of who we are. So that's why a lot of us might still hold on to a lot of trauma. I myself went through tons of childhood trauma just simply because of who I love. Simply because I'm not straight. However I've managed to be fortunate enough to have the resources to get the therapy I needed so stuff like people making innocent mistakes won't send me into a pdsd trigger anymore. But some still have not made it to that point yet and that's why getting the correct gender is so super important. An honest innocent mistake is an honest innocent mistake and that's all amazing and wonderful when you can get somebody that can learn from their mistakes and is willing to learn from the mistakes so kudos to you for that because even though it seems like a simple thing that you said I made a mistake, to people still struggling with their trauma it is a very big deal that you step forward and admitted it. From my non-binary friends and the non-binary people I help in the charity of volunteer at thank you for that!

I'm in love with this song, I have it on repeat. I know these lyrics are about Gender identity and breaking out of the chains of what society expects you to be but quite honestly as someone who is classed as neurodivergent. These lyrics work for people on the spectrum too. I think this is why the song resonate with me so much.
I'm on the spectrum and i find the lyrics to be very thick on the nose. When somebody tries very hard to be artful, it comes off as manufactured. A true lyricist knows how invoke emotion through description. You have to 'show' emotion. Even as a writer . You don't 'tell' emotion. Being neurodivergent has nothing to do with it. Different people have different opinions. You have yours. It's not some special neurodivergent power to like simple lyrics that tell the story, point by point. I myself prefer the styles of Lady Gaga. Her lyrics are seeped in metaphor to evoke emotion without literally spelling it out for you. Nemo is easy accessible. It requires very little thought to know what he means. Because the lyrics speak for themselves. Nothing wrong with that. Kind regards: someone with autism

the lyrics in the rap segment aren't really "empty", they're singing about how exhilarating and freeing it is to know and be yourself, how being non-binary inherently makes you a part of something bigger because some people will always try to turn your existence into a political debate. furthering this idea of being a part of something greater is the fact that Nemo used their win to get in contact with government officials about making a legally recognised non binary gender!! (because obviously it looks bad for a country to praise an absolutely amazing performer who won for their country while not legally recognising them lol) ❤❤

It is not that they took that pause just to release tension if you actually pay attention to the lyrics of the very not empty song you will notice that when they decided to take that pause in the song is very impactful to the story being told in the song not just because it fit best for them to take a breath

We all might use the incorrect pronoum at some point in our lives. And when we are, hopefully politely, corrected, we should respect that choice. While doing this video the creator simply didn't know this, and has already changed the pronoum in the thumbnail for "they". Thank you Zoe for that! ❤ As for the lyrics, I've seen this actually before with vocal analysts: They are more focused on the singing that lyrics are being treated bit of secondary issue. (Unless talking about pronouncing some words.) All and all it was a true pleasure to watch someone getting so excited about the performance. 😊

D'accordo col discorso relativo alla musica, però la polemica non è su "chi fa sesso con chi", perché si parla di identitario di genere e non di sessualità, sono due cose diverse
It's always fun to watch people who know about music and singing watch these and give their takes and their expertice. They see what just average person doesn't about these peformances. Also I'm glad you put that note into the description, a lot of people whould have not done that so massive respect from me atleast as someone using those pronouns too in english.
Miss Zoe, this is a very deep song about Nemo finding himself and broke the code feeling the freedom of knowing that there was a word for what he "IS" as a human being. That being a non-binary person. The words mean a lot.
I don't care about this gender stuff, but this was the best performance, his vocal ability is exquisite, singing pop + rap + opera in one song flawlessly while balancing himself on a moving platform.. 10 out of 10 for Nemo ❤
I would like to hear you reaction commentary on Raiven's Veronika, Slovenia's Eurovision entry. Didn't get much points but it's an interesting performance and her singing is quite something.
For those harping on Zoe for her slight criticism of the lyrics, I'll quote one of the best wordsmiths in the past decades Terry Pratchett: Personal is not the same as important. Just because the song is personal doesn't make the lyrics special, they are pretty standard, heck, even the metaphore is really on the nose considering they call it non binary based on programming. So chill. The performance is still fantastic.
Exactly. I'm non-binary but I found the lyrics pretty generic and too repetitive. The metaphors aren't very original either. The singing itself is great and the spinning table is cool, but the lyrics do let the song down.
I still disagree with you. The lyrics are very creative. I also totally disagree with the metaphor being "standard" because most people are too stupid and uneducated about the topic to even pick up on it (I am NOT referring to Zoe here, but the average ESC viewer who does not think about these things)
Well this has to be my favourite thing to scroll past. On a video from an extatic vocal coach on probably my favourite Eurovision song of all time (sorry Lordi, Nemo finally took it from you) someone actually used a quote from my favourite author in a comment. Well done.
A lot of people already jumped to push back on your comment about the lyrics, but I would like to add something: I think it would be really important to listen to Nemo's song This Body. It is sort of like the "before" if The Code is their "after." This song is lyrically a beautiful follow-up to This Body that shows the journey they went on from being so lost and alone and unaware, to singing about *HOW* they came out of that journey on this side by breaking the code they were trying to force themselves to live by. I also love the 'binary' metaphor, it's super cute and creatively woven into the story of the song. The rap is probably the least personal bit of it, but I just cannot hear the creativity and meaning and journey in this song and see the lyrics as empty at all.
wow. the single comment that breaks the heart of many here! I read most of the comments. "empty"? Perhaps you meant something else? But seriously, I am moved by the lyrics more than by the spectacular performance. They are just describing who they are and your response sounds pretty much " you are nobody". This is what they lived through in " hell" , judging by the lyrics ( not empty). BAM! I am not sure if you meant this. Sorry.
Exactly! I meant they were simple, not empty. Bad choice of words. I was expecting more from the lyrics in general, but yes I have been slayed for it 😅
It's of course not empty for someone like Nemo personally. But I'd suggest you google or ask Chat GPT about the history of music lyrics. Most things humans can imagine and reflect on, have been expressed in music lyrics many times before. Countless individuals through the millennia have experienced personal processes that are comparable / very similar to Nemo's. Coming to terms with being non-binary is not a unique experience in this perspective. Hope this is helpful info, thanks.

I agree with the empty lyrics. The interesting background story doesn't change the fact that lyrics don't lead anywhere and the same things are repeated in the song again and again, only slightly different ways. But I of course understand that the song and its lyrics might still be meaningful to many. :) The chorus is quite well written though.
That was what I was meaning. They are basic, I should have said obvious and nor empty. I felt it was repetitive in the lyrics, but that doesn't take away from the story.
Why do I hear a bond influence in the part where he goes fully into his falsetto? I told my daughter that this was the winner for me from the first time I watched the music video with him on the train. I called the winners in the last few years too, I need to start putting money on it! 😂
Come on! The lyrics are empty?? You are not listening. He's telling he's story, and a great hell of a story it is. Please (really) listen to the lyrics. Love your videos. Cheers!
I have been obsessed with this performance since it aired. I thought the non binary was obvious because of the attire and they also said the song was entirely about them coming to the realization of their identity and coming out. I found this video fascinating because it helped me break down why i was gravitating towards the performance so much. Also, their wiki says they trained as an opera singer as a child and then they started their career as a rapper. I've only listened to three other songs and this is the only one that showcases their operatic singing. I've always loved fusion of genres in music so this is great. 😁
I loved it too. I didn't think it was obvious, I just thought they liked to wear dresses. It is so hard these days with assumptions, and I would have expected more grace as it wasn't intentional to misgender. I think the outfit looks fab!. ❤️
Great video, love how moved you become when singers give their best! ❤ To those who think it's important to argue about pronouns then to praise a male voice with a great range: It IS quite important if they're born as a biological male or female when talking about singing and voice range. I think it's better that they're called "he" and get praise for the incredible voice range then arguing about pronouns. This is really not as impressive for someone that's born as a female. They can call themselves whatever they want but you can never force other people to perceive you as something that you've decided. Every human being got their own right to describe their reality.
Btw, would love to see you react to Finland ("No rules" - Windows 95 Man), both the singers (his name is Henri, he's one of the writers of the song) voice and range and the overall stage performance. Have seen it over and over again after the finale ❤ I also love the song, it brings so much nostalgia for us who was growing up in the 90's. Surprised to hear it, the voice didn´t sound very experienced, sounded like Nemo didn´t know how to work with the breath (and no, I don´t mean being out of breath because of the climbing). Not pleasant to listen to, either.
It seems that you have basicly no music knowledge at all @@martavdz4972
Hey, just found your video! Amazing reaction. A lot of people aren't really explaining what the rap is about:
In the music video, nemo goes through multiple identities.
I'm so proud of them. And I am so proud to be a swiss member of the lgbtqia+ community 🥰🥰🥰
How many letters we have already 😅
@@RaffGoodman L for women who likes women. G for men who like men. B for people who likes both. T for transidentity. Q for people who are not hetero / cis but without a particular name. I for intersex people (born with an ambiguous pattern with chromosomes and/or genitals), A for people who doesn't have sexual and/or romantic attraction at all, or only in specific situation. + for all others specificity :)
It's just for everyone to be represented, and for others to know that there is not only gay, bi, lesbian and trans. Invisibilizing will never help a person who identifies other than with the usual letters (LGBT), so I think it's important to remember that there is more ^^
@shiminisillters1848 And that includes only gender and sexual orientation. Imagine, if we would include also sexual inclination like BDSM, all the fetishes and the forms of amorous relationships, like polyamory.

The lyrics aren’t empty at all! They are nemos story of finding themself!
Can you do one of these videos for Norways performance? Got last place in the final but definitely didn't deserve it, Gunhild is such a good singer!
Y si veis la versión acústica, sólo su voz y un piano... U! Maravillosa! Y la de Nemo con la filarmónica, otra maravilla!
The way he was using that gyrator to walk up.... mimicking the mountains of Switzerland, was very clever.
I thought that mechanism was the coolest thing!
Surely it can't be easy to do opera when your altitude is being changed!
I didn't notice that it was being spun by people in black suits darting across the stage in order to not be viewed by the main cameras, until I watched versions that other people recorded
@@PKLuver944 Yeah, It's electronically spun but it is indeed raised and dropped by two stage hands. Must have taken a lot of practice with them and nemo to get it right.

thank you for the reaction! can you also do reaction to the performance of france this year? they finished 4th and also had great vocals imo!
I felt like I was hyptonized throughout the whole song.... Nemo fills the stage so much that I literally couldn't take my eyes off while watching
I love Nemo so much. They deserved it. I'm glad they took part to the ESC and became a Fan of them. ❤
...no....😊
I'm already looking for your React to the final performance of "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" by Baby Lasagna. His vocals improved so much from the national preselection to the ESC final! Also the crowd went insane in Malmö! 😍
The crowed "singing" was include the sing. Its Like Rammsteins "ich will" - the crowed was on the record. A Studio. Not the people in Malmö
Just spectacular.
Thank you for the soulful review that leaves very warm feelng and sunny mood! Wish you all the best!
Amazing reaction 🫶🏽 thank you so much ❤️🔥
I saw a video that showed Nemo getting an award for best lyrics before the finale.
the lyrics in the rap segment aren't really "empty", they're singing about how exhilarating and freeing it is to know and be yourself, how being non-binary inherently makes you a part of something bigger because some people will always try to turn your existence into a political debate.
furthering this idea of being a part of something greater is the fact that Nemo used their win to get in contact with government officials about making a legally recognised non binary gender!! (because obviously it looks bad for a country to praise an absolutely amazing performer who won for their country while not legally recognising them lol) ❤❤
Il faut dire que Nemo a largement mérité cette victoire à l'Eurovision. Une prestation difficile et largement effectuée haut la main. Bravo.
please you can review Slimane - live performance eurovision. Thx in advance :)
Going into the final it wasn't even in my top 10, but the performance was mindblowing, catapulted into my personal runner-up (after Ukraine)
the first thing I was thinking when I heard this song for the first time was these are really beautiful lyrics... and you called them empty like I really don't understand
In case you didn't know, Nemo also won the 2024 Eurovision Best Lyrics award. ruclips.net/video/ceCiLP_UfsA/видео.htmlsi=7tpMZNv3cTggJmkO
Totally personal and amazing song from Nemo. They absolutely nailed it.
crazy im heaps right handed but totally humble when peeps like nemo kill it. this was a great review i fr do the opposite to this advice but learnt and love this way. heres a cool vox coach that cares. +1 sub. love ya love. keep up the great work!
There is video of them Nemo running back and froth singing this song training to hold it just like you talked about starting with walking and increasing speed. :)
Fantastic!
It is not that they took that pause just to release tension if you actually pay attention to the lyrics of the very not empty song you will notice that when they decided to take that pause in the song is very impactful to the story being told in the song not just because it fit best for them to take a breath
Nemo said he had an electric snowboard a few years ago. This clearly helped him keep his balance on this disc
Skateboard.
@@DramaQueenMalena The movements are absolutely those used in snowboarding, which is an extremely popular winter sport in Switzerland. I’d be extremely surprised if Nemo _hasn’t_ been snowboarding since they were a little kid.
@tookitogo I'm Swiss too, from Biel. Nemo said in an interview, they had an electric snowboard and that helped them. But you are probably right with the snowboard.

Nemo was amazing and a very well-deserved winner! I would love to hear your critique of Ukraine, they were my absolute favourite this year. I'm really enjoying your Eurovision analyses, keep 'em coming please 😁
Just posted it 🥰🥰
Thanks so much for the Ukraine review. Their song affected me like it affected you. I hope you're OK. Jerry and Aliona's beautiful song & performance is the humanity the world needs in response to the horrors they are facing in Ukraine ❤
He's brilliant & super talented!
yes HE'S great!
LOVING your channel! I would really love to see you commenting Slimane's performance (from France), which is almost purely vocal and with very interesting aspects :)
Love you in fact 'cause your explains are very clever !
I didn't even think about what that platform could do to your breath support... oh my days! 😅
Deserved victory... holy hell! And to those of you who thought that Switzerland was not going to win while the Eurovision stage looked like a Swiss flag - you're fools, I tell you! XD
We all might use the incorrect pronoum at some point in our lives.
And when we are, hopefully politely, corrected, we should respect that choice.
While doing this video the creator simply didn't know this, and has already changed the pronoum in the thumbnail for "they".
Thank you Zoe for that! ❤
As for the lyrics, I've seen this actually before with vocal analysts:
They are more focused on the singing that lyrics are being treated bit of secondary issue. (Unless talking about pronouncing some words.)
All and all it was a true pleasure to watch someone getting so excited about the performance. 😊
fantastic opera-like voice..
When will you reaction to Norway?
Nemo’s FAB! Well deserved win🤩🤩
Proud of Norwegian cowriters🥰
Nailed reaction as always! I really recommend looking at Georgia! She has really good vocals and you would be surprised
They dynamics of the music and voice in this song are so exhilarating. Gets the old blood pumping every time.
You have a lovely voice too Madame.
It's always fun to watch people who know about music and singing watch these and give their takes and their expertice. They see what just average person doesn't about these peformances.
Also I'm glad you put that note into the description, a lot of people whould have not done that so massive respect from me atleast as someone using those pronouns too in english.
Just for future reference, Nemo identifies as non-binary and uses They/Them pronouns. This was already mentioned under the previous video about Nemo.
We don't care 👍🏼 Sorry go to Palestine now

Maybe look into what the song is about before commenting on the lyrics being empty in THEIR song
Miss Zoe, this is a very deep song about Nemo finding himself and broke the code feeling the freedom of knowing that there was a word for what he "IS" as a human being. That being a non-binary person. The words mean a lot.
The lyrics are very deep actually
agreed
Well Said!!!
Well done.
@@atropatene3596 Glad to be of service :)
A video of just Nemo´s breathing in this would be quite the thing... ^^
One time to hear the song its enough!!!
wow. the single comment that breaks the heart of many here! Sorry.
...bla bla bla!....
Exactly! I meant they were simple, not empty. Bad choice of words. I was expecting more from the lyrics in general, but yes I have been slayed for it 😅
Amazing performance! The chorus is idioms making it so infectious. Loving the way he champions his vocal range. 🏆
Lol, here in Germany your video-title is a wild mix of English and German. RUclips is sometimes crazy. ;)
The lyrics are empty?????
Have you even payed attention to what they are singing about??
The lyrics and metaphors are soo cleaver
Maybe if you had watched the whole video I talk about the lovely use of symbols in the performance. ;) the rap was a bit empty imo.
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach I think it's just meant to reflect the rollercoaster ride nature of their journey.
You should react Slovenian entry Veronika by Raiven
The song won the special ESC Price for "Best Lyrics" aswell..so that for "empty lyrics"😉
I meant the rap was a bit on the nose with the lyrics. Obviously the WORST way to say it 🙈 everyone has picked up on this ONE line I said.

THEY
Both Nemo and Bambie are non-binary and uses They/Them. Just so you know! They're both amazing and I LOVE THEM
Why do I hear a bond influence in the part where he goes fully into his falsetto?
To those who think it's important to argue about pronouns then to praise a male voice with a great range: It IS quite important if they're born as a biological male or female when talking about singing and voice range. I think it's better that they're called "he" and get praise for the incredible voice range then arguing about pronouns. This is really not as impressive for someone that's born as a female.
They can call themselves whatever they want but you can never force other people to perceive you as something that you've decided. Every human being got their own right to describe their reality.
