Man that's weird about the squeal. Mine handles high gain without squeal no problem, even with a hot Death by Audio Fuzz War pushed with a Timmy OD through any of my amps, even the Rockerverb 100 through a 4x12 at stage volume. I love this guitar, it's a workhorse. It also has great versatility with the split pickups. Can even get some country twang out of it or some crunchy metal. Quality wise I think it's leaps beyond any Epiphone. I am a tech for my day job and I'd even put the quality of this over a lot of newer Gibson's that I've wrenched on. That's just me, but I love Gibson/Epi's just as much. Set up of this guitar out of the box consisted of intonating one string. Everything else was spot on. Can't say that for most new guitars folks bring to me. Everyone has their opinions and likes and dislikes. But for real I think it's a steal for the price. Thanks for the review, enjoyed your take!
I thought it was the cover vibrating, so I took it apart and put some double sided tape and that didn't help/ I'm not sure if these are wax potted, but if not, maybe that would help. Regardless, it's definitely a keeper. Pickups are an easy fix. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@Guitarnivore If you change pickups I'd love to hear it! Let us know what you do! What's your signal chain for these vids? Bummer about the pickups, maybe you got a bad batch, it happens some times. I went to install some big name pickups recently and they forgot to pot em! No wax at all, blew my mind. I think some Fender Wide Range from a 72 Tele Deluxe would be a good match, might have to route it a bit but I'm gonna buy another Polara Deluxe and try that.
It's very comparable to my custom, but I've been happy with my Epiphone SG's. The bolt on SG's like the specials are an exception. I'd never buy another one of those and I wouldn't even take a free one.
@@Guitarnivore I had the Epi- 335 and when I traded it in the guy at the store looked at it and said "hasn't been played much" and gave me almost full price on trade in.
sweet guitar brother!
loved the collab with brian!
Thanks. We had a good time!
Have this and it's by far my go to blues guitar

@@GuitarnivoreI did that (except I used poster putty instead of tape) and it got rid of the squeal on my Polara.
Well in my opinion they are all better then Epiphone. I have owned one Epi and I quickly traded it for a Gretsch.

If only it didn’t have a Tune-o-Matic bridge. I’ve had 2 SGs, and a les paul over the years and always hated the Tune-o-Matic bridges.
What don't you like about the tune-o-matics?
@@Guitarnivore I don’t like that I can’t adjust the individual string height.
@@thedude7450 I totally understand that
