Horror Business - A Misfits Cover Nobody Asked For

This is something I just did for fun and to showcase the sound of the Ghoul fuzz pedal from @HumanoidFX . I know it's kind of cheesy, silly and very amarture, but when you're a one man operation, there is only time for so much and this was a labor of love and lunacy. I played all guitars, sung and programmed the drums and this is the first time I've done something like this and it actually work...

The Best Rock Guitar (Gibson SG Standard '61 Faded Review)
Where's "The Library"? Is tone studio a phone app? How do you get the patches to your amp? My Katana came with no instructions, my first solid state modeling amp - I'm lost. Do I need to hook up a laptop? Da fuck?
When strumming too hard i hear a faint clipping/crackle . It's in Bypass mode. Might be this Lekato? Using with a set of Sennheiser headphones for practice. Don't have another setup to try on.
Forget about using the Katana 100 with the GAFC if you're going to use vocals or a drum simulator through a looper. When you switch channels to a distorted channel with say, a delay, the drums will delay and lose timing and the voice will not be clean.
Was the send/return set to post reverb? If you're using a looper, every channel you use it with needs to be set to post reverb.
2:29 it was at this point in my process that i discovered the tuner shaft was 10mm and the holes in my Epiphone LP special were 8mm. Nothing a drill could not handle.
Uh oh! Be careful with a drill and tuners holes. I snapped a headstock off doing that. Most people will use a reamer for that exact reason.
@Guitarnivore graduated drill bits, low speed drill and painters tape to protect the finish... for now. I am also an experienced carpenter.
@ I've used a step bit before I got myself a reamer. The time I ripped the headstock off, I was using a cheap drill that had like two speeds and a big old drill bit that was a little dull. I had to learn that lesson the hard way.
@@Guitarnivore expensive lesson.
@@pathevermore3683 Luckily it was a cheap Jackson and I found a Mighty Mite neck for under $100.
Can you send wiring diagram? Thanks.
This is the diagram I used. freeimage.host/i/JMUuf2I
Do the patches from MKII also work for Artist GEN3/MKIII? What if you want to use an expression pedal? The Boss ga fc footswitch also has the option to modulte effects of the specific channel. What if the footswitch is virtual now? Is it possible to save presets created with the hidden amps in the librarian app in the Boss tone studio software, too (or via the amp?) All of your videos I watched are top quality and informative withour blablah. Good job!
Patches from mk1 and mk 2 are compatible with the Gen 3. Sneaky amps can be used on the MK1 and Mk2 and you can find them for Tone Studio as well. The gen 3 doesn't support sneaky amps and if you load a patch that used sneaky amps, it will revert the amp back to the appropriate amp. Also, when connected to the The Librarian mobile app, the sneaky amps don't show up. As far as the expression pedal goes, the amps have an expression pedal jack on the back, so you can plug it in there.
I think the video was great, comprehensive and captivating. I'm mostly looking to be a bass player but I do both and I have a bit more experience on guitar. I love the paranormal series as well. Have you seen the Fender Meteora Guitars and Basses?
Thanks. I've seen the Meteora guitars, and maybe the basses? All I know is that I want another shorter scale bass.
Hey Scott, I gotta say, you're an excellent instructor. You make it all seem so easy. Great video!
Thanks! Military training helped with instructing.
In general, do people really often switch off or between the effects of one channel? Why not simply use the knobs?
Sometimes different song parts call for different effects or an entirely different tone like going from driven to clean. You can't really stop to fiddle with knobs mid-song while you're playing guitar.
@@Guitarnivore So the argument is handsfree switching? Makes sense to me when gigging, but it should not be a problem at home. Thanks!
@@joggerino3284 If you're just dicking around at home and want to switch channels, you can use the buttons, but the effects buttons cycle through 1 of 3 variations of the fx. It's nice to have if you have this amp regardless. At home, most of the time if I'm playing around, I just leave it on a tone I like with Tone Studio open on my PC. If I want to switch or adjust tones, I do it from the software. Now you have me asking myself why I even have the GA-FC. I guess it's kind of like having a compact pedal board.
@@Guitarnivore lol😄 I am happy help but I better stop asking questions before I make you questioning your life.
@@joggerino3284 😆I already do that.
great advice. Thanks!
This kicks ass!!! What about a tone for the album "The Sound of Perserverance"!
Best video so far to figure out the EX pedal, but I have to agree with you...BOSS instructions are very confusing and sparse at best. I spent $150 for mine (new) in December 2024. If BOSS is reading this, haven't you learned by now that all of these videos on your pedal are trying to make up for your lack of solid info for YOUR product? Isn't it time to put out a definitive video that makes sense of this additional $150 we all had to pay to operate the amp to it's fullest potential? Next up, $50 to buy the non-existent BLUETOOTH module so that I can make changes easily at the gig via smart phone...No wonder this amp was so well priced and everybody bought it...Can I get the $200 special all weather undercoating too? LOL
superb Scott beats the laptop! i downloaded from my pc the tsl files as a group!
Hey Scott I was going to buy some of those joyos and is there any delay?🧐
Don't buy the Joyos. There are a lot better ones out there. They're only good for about 13 ft. They were good at first, but since I have found a few better sets. There is a link in the pinned comment to a better pair.
@ thanks man also my boss gen 3 isn’t really as dirty as a would like so can you do a vid about it please
I was trying to decide between this, the Gibson, or the Eastman SB55/v. I thought I would give the Epi a try. Ordered it from GC and got a new one from the warehouse. It is a decent guitar for the price. The top and back are beautifully done with a veneer to cover the 3 piece body, but is rather dark and there’s not much contrast. The neck is very comfortable and well done. The fretwork is quite nice as well. Setup out of the box is very good. The tuners seem to be very good. The pickup sounds good, but not as good as the P90 soapbars on the Epiphone Wilshire I had. I suspect it is likely the height of it. It is really far away from the strings and I don’t want to lower the bridge any more than it is because the action is where I like it. I’ve seen comments about using shims to raise the pickup and I would say that is a must. Not sure why Epiphone doesn’t just do that at the factory. The volume control is pretty useless below 7 or so but I think a treble bleed circuit would help with that greatly. After trying it out, I decided to spend the extra money and get the Eastman. It is absolutely amazing and I’m so glad I did. It immediately felt like an old friend and I bonded with it right away. It looks so cool and old school with a slight relic’d finish, and the antique varnish they use feels great, much nicer than the polyurethane on the Epi. The Lollar pickup sounds incredible and the volume and tone controls work really well to let you get the sound you want. Setup is perfect, neck is a little chunkier than the Epi but feels great and the ebony fretboard is awesome. I don’t really care for the Indian laurel that Epi uses. Overall, the Epiphone is a nice guitar for the price, but I say if you can swing it, look at the Gibson or the Eastman and I think you’ll be happier.
I've also seen a few people mention about shimming the P90. I'm not a big fan of p90, but I do like the ones in my Jazzmaster. The neck was a little chunkier than I prefer, but the thing I liked most about this guitar was the weight and balance. Gibsons are nice, but a bit too pricey for what I do. Thanks for commenting. I'll take a look at the Eastman some time.
Thanks for that video ! I still use my Thorens , but I will buy this one fin addition
The crunch distortion sounds like the first megadeth album distortion,,,,,😂 all treble and no filler,,,,started to go into godzilla there,, i forgot i kinda stole some of that riff for one of my own.😂
Help, mayday. SoS i have a katana mk2 and a RC-10R looper, when i set up EQ2 - out parametric EQ and then press enable send/return tab, my tone becomes different, as if the speaker was put in a box. recording on the looper also sounds muffled. i don't know where to turn
Have you set it to post rev. With a looper, you need to make sure it's post reverb. You may have to play with the send/return levels. You should also set it to series.
I appreciate the little demo. I should’ve looked before about it, but I ordered it anyway and now while I await the delivery, I could be happy. I made the right choice.
can you dial in these with just the amp?
If you put it on the brown channel you might be able to dial in something closish as long as your guitar is tuned to D standard.
Please make a video where we can turn our Katana Gen 3 into a Jazz Chorus 40 ..if possIble
I've got one I've been working on, but I just haven't been in the tone creating mood lately this year.
How do you keep your katana so quiet? I can have the suppressor up as high as 90 for some tones and its still not quite enough
You may be getting some outside interference. It may also be your pickups. It's hard to say without hearing what exactly is going on.
@ if it is interference do you know if theres anything that can be done? I assume if its the houses wiring i’ll just have to live with it
You need to isolate where the noise is coming from. If the amp still makes that noise when your guitar is not plugged in then it may be a grounding issue. Also check to see if it's noisy on both clean and dirty channels. There are some products (google Humno) that you can buy to put between the wall and amp plug to eliminate the ground loop. If it only happens when your guitar is plugged in, then it may be a grounding issue with your guitar or even your cable.
@ thanks for replying, i’ll see if i can figure it out
Is it good to use as just a clean amp to push an outboard effects processor/preamp into? Two 50Mk2's in stereo maybe?
You could use the power amp in on the amp... That turns it into amplified speaker and bypasses everything else.
@Guitarnivore Thats exactly what i was wondering about. I have an old Digitech RP1 i want to setup into a semi compact stereo rig pushing two cabs. Thanks ✌️
also when i tried updating the firmware after i did all the steps the amp just flashed red lights at the same time it wont go in waves until it turns green like in the video any help?
You may not have seen my first reply, but it sounds like you copied the entire system software folder and not just the two files inside that folder to the amp.
after i updated and did everything else the amp is flashing all red lights from booster to reverb. does this work with the 50 watt?
It sounds like you copied the entire system software folder and not just the two files.
I disagree you now have B.T yes it’s a cost but so much easier to dial in and I can buy this and add my mk2 boss for a stereo rig with tones of head room and the push channel is great for blues and indie kind of thing yes I hav Ed a fender deluxe reverb tube amp to be honest the katana sounds better
6 months after this review, I bought the Gen 3 100 head. Admittedly, I do enjoy the pushed and bloom feature. I still don't have the Bluetooth adapter because the desktop app is a lot easier to navigate and fine tune. ONe thing I don't like is that you can no longer use sneaky amps.
Thank you for getting to the important info in a concise video!
Excellent review; to the point, clear and covers the main features. I've just bought one and love the simplicity. Sounds very good through a KRK Rokit 6 speaker. I will now sell my Katana 100.
Spring fucking reverb eh? The worst thing ever invented.
It's one of those love/hate things for me. Sometimes it sounds great and sometimes it sounds terrible to me.
Pourquoi je ne peux écrire des modifications sur les canaux?
I have the Boss one and it works good enough out front but I have been too lazy to try the four cable method and its more cables to deal with, but I will try it, just not sure if it goes before or after my pedals in the loop. I thought for the four cable method to use the input and output out front before my od/boost and dirt pedal and from the dirt pedal to the amp input, then use the send and return either before or afer all my pedals in the effects loop?
I say try it both before and after the loop and see what works best for your setup.
Is it just me or is the Lekato MPP-10 exactly the same as the Mosky iso 10 ?!
It probably is. A lot of these Asian products are just rebranded. You'll see it a lot with mini pedals, wireless dongles and such.
I know this video is for Mac, but I just recently purchased the katana art GEN three and was having so much trouble figuring out how to hook it to for boss tone studio. Found a video of yours and had it in ten minutes after 2 hours of other videos that were of no help. I know you might not see this but if you do I just want to say I greatly appreciate the time you take to make these videos! GOD BLESS!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Now to see if you have a video on how to use the app etc
Glad you got it worked out. I made these videos because I had the a hard time getting my MK2 up 4 years ago. Did you find the Tone Studio how-to videos? I have a playlist or a HUGE stiched video on how to use the desktop application for MK2, which is almost exactly the same as the Gen3 app. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/NE2SxLyvx78/видео.html
I can’t figure out how to get this thing hooked to my computer or anything I’m so frustrated. I’ve watched videos and everything.
I am having so much trouble with this
If Brian from Serching for Tone says you're a good guy and a great Chanel then I'm in. I just subscribed. Looking forward to more videos from you. He's right. Good stuff. 👍
Thanks. I appreciate that and hope you enjoy the content.
You spelled “channel” wrong bud 🤓
@Riff_Rebel thanks for the spell check.

lol maybe YOU’RE wrong. A great deal of people love them. FAIL.
And how much of the video did you FAIL to watch??
Brilliant thanks
Sorry about the audio sounding a bit wonky. I thought I had my Rode mic on, but it was recording from the phone audio. Trying to record this simple video turned into such a hassle. Here is the direct link to the updates/drivers page. www.boss.info/global/support/by_product/katana-100_gen_3/updates_drivers/
Don't sweat the woke snowflakes, dude, "Master and Slave" terminology is still terms referred to in the Technology industry.
Thank you.
Katana is a good amp. No one amp will satisfy all guitar players. Seems to be well made. Not overpriced. A good amp and value for the money.
Could not get a useable tone out of this piece of junk. Sold it to my cousin
the worst amp ever is the marshall code
I don't think I have ever heard anything good about the Codes or the Fender G-Dec's.
