I was dragging my feet during the Mini 1 and 2 era, but as the Sub-250gm class became more widely understood and adopted I bought the 3Pro…..love it and now added the 4Pro. Would be a perfect combo if they could share the same controller as well as batteries.
For me- the mini 2 was the start of Sub 249G pocket drones being taken somewhat seriously- raw photo, 4k video, 60fps 2.7k, a way better body with brushless motors and that OS 2.0 was a game changer. At that price there was really no competition for the quality it offered. I've had issues with the gimbal arm on the mini 2 but it was my favorite for being such quality and so affordable. Mini 3 pro was such a gaint leap for sure- it was put off and held out for like an extra year for refinement and it shows- those were the two I think that mattered the most
I just spent $2000 on the DJI Mini 4 pro and a pile of batteries so I can fly for ages. It's a great wee drone, easy to fly and easy to understand. It takes a really good photo & video. I think with all it's Safety systems & sensors it should be a safe and reliable drone
I'm not a big fan of those mini drones, because they are so small and easily pushed by the wind. Although the Mini 4 is the superior drone, I would go with the Mini 3, because it offers the most flight time. Even though we all know that we will never get the advertised time of the batteries, it just looks good on paper. I don't care to much for obstacle avoidance, even if it is safer. Sometimes we need to shut them off to get that great shot. Thanks for sharing Jack. I enjoyed the video. See you in the next one. Thanks again.
First thing, I would suggest that, if you really need that vertical video/photo.. you cannot go wrong with mini 3 or 4. But if verticle cam is not needed, then without any second thought, buy the mini 2. Second thing, at the price of mini 4 pro, you can get a mavic air 2, which is a great drone, but if you want to stick to the sub 250g, then it's your choice And last, for anyone looking for a drone for your hobby or if it's your first time, then the mini 2 is the best top class drone you can get.
I have a Mini se and a Mini 2 se. Bought both used. Both fly well. The 2se was only $50 because the gimbal frame needs replaced. I think that was a great deal. I plan on selling the Mini se once the 2se is repaired. If I could flip them both quick I’d buy the deal on the Mini 3 at Costco for $339. For now being on a super tight budget, I’m thrilled just to have a DJI drone and not have to settle for a toy.
I picked up the OG Mavic Mini in 2019 and still have it. I use it as backup for my Air 2S. It still flies and performs as well as ever. It is more of a robust little quad than it was ever given credit for.
I have the mini2 and thought it a great drone for photos and videos and then upgraded to the air3. I still fly the mini as its a little harder to fly than the air so keeps the skills that little bit sharper. Not having the obstacle avoidance makes you more carefull and you don't rely on it to stop you crashing.
had the Mini 1 as my first mini drone. Was pretty solid, but struggled with range, intereference, and wind. It was pretty impressive back then though. Have a mini 3 now, and dont regret it.
Great video!! I scored a mini 2 from Costco for $250 they were clearing out to make room for the mini 4 pro. Glad to see I’m not missing much by going with gen 2
I've been traveling with an Air 2s (Fly More Combo). It's great drone but it's like carrying around house brick everywhere I go. I'll definitely be investing in the Mini 4 pro before my next travel adventure. The mini drones are quieter and draw less attention I've noticed.
I recently jump into new size of dron (Air 3) but my Mini 2 will be always with me. I cover two size of drones sub 249 and a bigger size drone. With these two drones, I can fly almost everywhere, of course, always, under the rules. Mini 2 was my first drone, my first flights were with it and I'm very satisfied how it fly, records. For me, it will be always my drone.
I bought the original Mavic mini in April of 2020. After years, decades of wanting to fly RC aircraft, I was bored with the Mavic after about a month. 4 years later & it's in new condition & barely used. May of 2020 I bought an Emax EZ Pilot and was hooked on FPV flight. By June 2020 I had outgrown my EZ Pilot & bought an Emax Tinyhawk Freestyle 2. Since then I've gotten the Mavic out to fly less than 5 or 10 times. I did just take it out today though just to see if it still worked and it flew perfectly. These things aren't really flying though. The Mavic flies itself, you just tell it where to fly to. I still don't like the idea of giving DJI access to my phone with their app. The latency of the original Mini sucks too. Not sure if that ever got any better, but you cannot fly it in close proximity to obstacles by watching the screen because you will crash it. Now, you can take it way up in the air and fly by watching the screen, but down low it's basically the worst FPV drone stuck in angle mode ever. I would recommend putting an analog camera & VTX or a Caddx Vista on top of the drone if you want to fly it FPV. That will take care of the latency problem. I just use mine for checking the roof for damage.
great video Jack! i have em all. started with 4p then i wanted to really appreciate what it does so i went to mini then mini 2 then 3 and 3 pro. i hate the 3pro because of the overheating and its not the 4p but the mini i love cause the mini is like a manual trans car with no traction control and 4p adds auto trans and traction and stability assist. hahaha! the air 3 is wonderful but the air2 and 2s are better at wind than the minis. i still have 1/2 of each minus the 3pro. i never went pro so i just stick to the minis/air. i keep mini2/air2s in car in case i need to film something at random. mini2 when its not windy and 2s when it is. it is nice once in a while to see if they update any of the drones because after the 4p and air3 sensors were actually cameras you never know. hahahahaha!
Hey Jack. Always love your content. My 2 minis are the Mini 2 and Mini 4 Pro. 4 Pro is certainly superior, and like you, on a professional shoot, the 4 is always with me. But, the Mini 2 still gets a decent recreational workout. It is just a solid aircraft.

@@HalfChrome Suppose you're going on a 1000 mile bike trip once a year. Say you have $1000 cash. But you want a drone for that trip. Are you going to spend 500-600-1000 on a drone? I tell you, once people watched video of my $95 L200 Pro Max ($115 with two batteries and infrared thing on top) they're gonna say holy crap, that thing is unbelievable.
And that is why you as a drone guy should review one of the new under 250 gram with gimbal very soon. Your kinda running behind. We all have seen DJI drones a million times over and over again. It's boring. And that is why I don't want a DJI anymore. Maybe if I do a trip around the world I will buy a DJI Mini 4 Pro? But for 5 views in YT?
@driewiel I’ve seen the footage. It’s ok. If I’m doing a 1000 mile ride and I have $1000 I’d get the Mini 4.
@driewiel I should review it. But I value the camera. It might be the best drone for less than $100
You have a lot of drone 😮 plzzz giftawa me dji mini 2 se i have no drone 😔
Hey bud… Loved your review on the different models unfortunately I just had my mini to drop out of the sky into the water and was wondering if I could possibly give you a call and discuss what will work with my transmitter and extra batteries versus just upgrading to the mini 3 pro or mini 4 pro… I’ll be happy to give you my number or call you either way …it’s just too much to text thank you my friend
It’s pretty simple what model did you have?
@@HalfChrome I have the mini 2 and I was trying to decide whether to buy another mini two or to just upgrade… the features of the three Pro and four Pro are more what I want, but I was not sure if either one of those would work with the mini 2 transmitter and batteries
@@HalfChrome I love the faster speed because I would like it to follow me in my boat while running and fishing also the screen on the transmitter is AWSOME other than being able to directly load the videos to my phone… so I’m not real sure if I like the screen on the transmitter or the one I have that hooks to my phone
