We start the journey from Rigi Kulm, the top of Mountain Rigi (also known as Queen of the mountains in Switzerland). It is located in the heart of Central Switzerland, and easily accessible from every direction (not by car!). Rigi Kulm is a truly majestic place and offers a breathtaking 360° panoramic view. Moreover, the combination of the snow-capped Alps (when weather is clear), the lowlands with 13 lakes, views of Germany and France and a bird's-eye view of the cities of Lucerne and Zug makes it truly unique.

Thanks so much for this excellent video. It's 59 years since I travelled on this railway, and it brings back happy memories.
The other track seems disconnected above Kaltbad and is similarly no longer joined to the track we were on below Freibergen. Does that mean that the ascending train we saw at 19:20 is "marooned" on that track and just runs shuttles between Freibergen and Kaltbad these days? There were other aspects of how the points manage the transfer of the grip on the drive rail which seemed inconsistent and puzzling, as well as inexplicable sections without the guard rails either side of the drive rail at an especially steep section, which looked prone to it disengaging.
Not that I can remember any of *those* details from 1965!
