- Classic Game Room HD reviews BURGERTIME for the ColecoVision video game system from 1984. Originally released by Data East in the arcades in 1982, Burgertime is an awesome arcade video game and has a tremendous cartridge on the Coleco Vision. This Burger Time review has gameplay and footage from Burgertime showing the old school arcade action, excitement and challenge in making your Chef run from Mr. Egg, Mr. Hot Dog and Mr. Psychopathic Mutant Dill Pickle Maniac Warhammer. If you want superior graphics, sound and authentic arcade style check out this Colecovision video game over other versions. It is rock solid in every way and Burgertime should appeal to modern and retro gamers alive. Classic Game Room HD is the old school reviewer reviewing ColecoVision video games from the early 80's as well as PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

My wife found out that i was eaten by a giant pickle today
I was so used to playing BurgerTime way back in the day on the Atari 2600. And oh my gosh this version visually blows it away! I did pick this up today and I look forward to playing it. Great review.
best survival horror game
I loved Mr. Egg, running as hard as his little legs could go.
Thank you for uploading this video. This brings back wonderful memories!!!!
I'm a older gamer, and This guy is the BEST HANDS DOWN retro specialist available on youtube
It was the newest and most capable hardware of that generation, but remember: 2600 release date was 1977, Coleco was 1982. Five years tech wise makes a big difference.
Looks like a very good arcade classic, shame that I've never heard of this game before this review. But I guess it's never too late to start playing a classic.
I used to like this in the arcade, and the Coleco version looks almost perfect.
those old manuals are the best part of the reviews! 70s era sci fi was so awesome!
I've been waiting for this one Mark. This is my favorite port of Burgertime and I'm sure that I'm not alone. Great game and great review.
Nice I want a Coleco Vision mostly for this game now. I used to play the 2600 version of this years ago and really liked it, but to look at this one it blows it away.
This game is so much fun on the NES. That port is the only version I have played. Great review as always.
I am so impressed by these ColecoVison graphics. It's such a shame the system didn't sell all that well.
Thanks for the burgertime review. I used to play this on the coleco. Coleco was the bomb!! My neighbor had it. I had the crummy 2600, with the crappy games :(
I am still in awe of the Colecovision and the graphics it had for its time. It's just a shame the crash didn't come too far after this was released way back in 1982.
Either way, I still loved playing this thing until the early 90s, thanks for the review and a trip down memory lane.
If first played Burgertime on Windows 98 in 2000. As time went by, I forgot all about it. In 2011, I went to the Boardwalk Arcade for my birthday and found the Arcade Machine! I was super rusty so now I play it on MAME. This is the Best home console version I have ever seen. ColecoVision RULES!
I played this game a lot on my Intellivison here in Brazil in the early 80s. I even just built a Raspberry Pi 4 just to be able to play those Colecovision and Intellivision games again.
great review
A Colecovision was my first video game system (with the Atari 2600 converter, what a great combination!). Colecovision arcade games all looked very similar to the arcade versions. The gameplay was nearly exactly the same. All hail the Colecovision!
I've watched this video like 3 times and I honestly want this game.
damn, pretty impressive sprites, and impressive animation.
"...who would be the one with the unpleasant job of telling his wife and kids, 'your father was eaten by giant pickles'?!"
.haha.
your reviews are always done so well and are just flat out entertaining! *kudos to you!!*
I LOVED playing this
one of my all time fav's. I would love this to come to the Playstation 3 as a collector game.
oh bring back memories!!
The intellivision version, Diner, is actually considered a "sequal" rather than a remake of the arcade game. It was one of my top five favorite games when I was a kid so I hope Mark checks it out as well.
YEAH! You totally kicked that eggs ass! The graphics look really nice for such an old game.
This version of "BurgerTime" looks really nice for a game on the Colecovision, that's for sure! :D
Yet another classic, Data East also programmed a PC conversion and although it's only a CGA with PC speaker sound the gameplay is identical to the Colecovison's.
Pity the Coleco didn't last in the long run, seemed like a really cool system.
I had this game for the colecovision growing up. It was my second favorite after Zaxxon.
I had this for the Adam back in 1985 and at the time I felt it was just as good as the arcade.
I loved this game!
Why does it look a million times better than the Atari 2600 version?
Ummm, maybe 'cause the ColecoVision was considerably more powerful than the Atari 2600?
Nice to see your reviews in 1080p HD.It's a shame you never played the arcade version. If you are an old school gamer like me nothing beats the joysticks from that time. From watching the gameplay the only problem with this game is the sprite flicker.I hope I got sprite referenced correctly.Keep up the good work.Love the visits to the past. One day I am going to get off my ass and get a olecovision and play again.I get my fix with arcade games on Xbox 360 downladables like Robotron:2084.
Just a video of Mark making his lunch.
I grew up with Burgertime on Intellivision. Awesome version. You should check out the updated on for XBLA/PSN!
I bought a colecovision and this is the only one to get and blows everything retro out of the water true arcade quality.
this obviously used to get me very hungry as a kid.
The Colecovision will always be the best system, imo. It holds the great memories for me, and there is something about it, the graphics and gameplay, and especially the sounds. It all comes together and makes it so addicting. I've have many systems after this, and if I had to choose one, it's Colecovision. Sometimes while I'm playing online on my PS2 (I like Socom Combined Assault) I'll be daydreaming about my Colecovision. So I'll trun it off and play it instead.
This version looks really good! I've been playing the NES version a lot and that's fun, but really tough! I should give this one a try as well, since I actually own it too.
I've been playing Burger Time on MAME, and damn, the colecovision version looks crazy close to the actual arcade version, as do most of the games on this system. Think I'm going in search of...for this system!
Colecovision was and is one of the most underrated system ever. The system was very impressive for its time.
Awesome
Wow, this game makes me hungry.
There is 2 BurgerTime games for the ColecoVison. This one is, in my opinion, the best of them... and fortunately, it's also the most common one.
Awesome game!
Not to state the obvious... But this reviewer is awesome. He's hilarious!
Well Mark that's what we are here for.
Yes He Is! Classic Game Room Is Pure AWESOMENESS! And BurgerTime Is Pure AWESOMENESS As Well!
I want a t-shirt with your face Mark!
Wow almost looks as good as the NES port. Man that's crazy I need to find a Colecovision for sure. Hopefully it's not that expensive on eBay or anything.
is the intellivision version next? because that's the first game i ever played and i wanna see it again ^^
I could really go for a burger right about now.
Yeahh that's the one I used to play =).
Fryin' and buyin'.
Damn, I always found it too hard and now I must see that you can also toss them down with the paddies...
It took me about 30 years now to realize that...!
There were two versions of Burger Time for the Colecovision: One by Mattel and one by DataSoft. I don't remember which was the better of the two, but there were obvious differences.
Great game
when i played this game first of the year 2000 i just was sitting there and i though that the chefs did hamburgers like this
I haven't played the arcade version of this game since probably 17 years ago, but this definitely resembles it, unlike that atari version.
I want a Big Mac now.....
GCR needs a TI 99. That version ruled.
I always thought the NES version of Burgertime was in my opinion the best of them all. I also love the Intellivision version too. The other day I played the TI version and was very amused.
I'm eating burgers while watching this
The arcade version's graphics were a bit more defined, However for a home video game version this was very acceptable.
Wow. this version actually looks better than the arcade version. The Colecovision must have better hardware than what the arcade unit used.
Colecovision was amazing! The only thing that screwed it up was the controls and the videogame crash of the 1980's
I have a question, which system is better? colecovision? or intellevision?
Some of the music in your reviews sounds like "Always" by Erasure, but it's not. I wonder what the imitation song is.
I am playing this on a NES emulator right now!
These are 16,000 calorie burgers in the later levels. This one looks faithful to the actual arcade.
The Colecovision version of Burgertime is my second favorite version of the game, but I prefer the NES/Famicom version because of the faster walk speed of the character.
Judging solely by RUclips videos, the burger components in the arcade version look a little more cartoonish. The Colecovision burger components have a nice realistic (by 1984 standards) texture to them. I dare say that the Colecovision version has superior graphics to the original.
I'm taking about the genuine Burger Time port for the intellivision.
I have never heard of Diner...shame on me...
Wasn't there a 16 bit Burger Time sequel on the Snes?
Anyway I hope Mark will get to those.
those evil pickles
My dad was eaten by a giant pickle :( but who cares, great review, I USE MY MENTAL POWERS *you will do more sega genesis reviews*
C'mon everybody! Roadtrip to Giving Me Points Land! :)
i thought i was the only one who watched man vs food
Holy shit, those burgers are big as Bowser's mom!
Sprite flickering.A sprite is a two-dimensional image or animation that is integrated into a larger scene.Wikipedia had more detailed explanation. Brought to you from the old gamers home is Pala Vista, California.
So now, how do we use the "special sauce" :U
(you're awesome if you get the reference)
wow, this looks like a totally different game.
Probably the best classic system of that era. Atari had some ok titles, but Colecovision was our SNES of the time lol.
The graphics are better then the NES version
It is actually very close to the arcade experience. Some sounds effects are missing though.
@TheLastBrainLeft omg I remember now that colecovison controller did cause many a blisters, LOL
2600 had alot of good ones. :D
Guess giants don't care if someone walks on their burgers. :)
My dentist used to have this game Kind of Ironic in retrospect.
PetePepsi 4GOT the i
I can tell you from playing this game in the 1980's that the audio is identical. The Colecovision controllers are a bit clunky to work with but at least they went in eight directions unlike the Atari that only go's in four.
@RebornDARKstarII It is also the opposite or wrinkley.
when are they ganna make burger time the movie?
@powe same here man!
@Phoenix1251 Not realy the (data east arcade classics) for wii will have the arcade version of burgertime.
now im hungry
could you please review my favorite classic arcade gmae of all time MR DOs CASTLE
What time is it?
It's *spatula*BURGERTIME!
In response to the comment from the final seconds of the review:
Actually, what I would want to know, if this were a real world chef, is whom would be interested in eating a burger put together by having the guy literally walking all over the food product, in the first place...last I knew, Chef Boot was never a proper kitchen tool.
Ahh burger time, I love the game, but suck at it D:
I couldn't even make it to those pickles T_T
