On a 20,000 dollar bond. That's no chump change. Not only that I'm sure he was violated on his original bond and would have forfeited that and would need to pay even more to get out. Clearly that was the wake up call he needed because he stayed out of trouble until his probation was set, or he wouldn't have been given probation.
Im not proud of this, but I'm a felon and had plenty of interactions with jail and the police and I can't think of ONE time I was prepared to be arrested.
I mean no ones prepared to be arrested regardless of being a felon or not but you gotta let them arrest you if you are serious about reintegrating as a functional member of society or suffer the consequences which can vary depending on how you act my brother in law was in and out of prison to the point where he was institutionalized when he had his first kid he decided he was done with the acting hard and being dumb and now when he gets pulled over he says "hello officer what seems to be the problem sir?...yes sir sorry sir right away sir" a few times has been put into cuffs but still didn't lose his shi cause that would only make things worse ...see what I'm saying?...at a certain point the "I'm a felon" excuse stops being a valid excuse as when you are out for a while it's up to you to become a functional member of society and stop considering yourself as a felon.
If you're a felon and you can admit it, you're way better person than most. I'd trust YOU more than some creeps that have NO record. Stay strong Ma'am? 👍 Life is hard for felons. My Dad was one too (RIP). 😢
Closest I've got is knowing I'm going to jail when I go to court. So, I go in wearing 2-3 white t-shirts, 2-3 pairs of socks and underwear etc. So I'll have my max amount allowed already hahah I don't miss those days. I got all that out of my system before I was old enough to legally drink. I remember spending my 21st birthday in jail.
She is definitely in his ear reinforcing his behavior. Her smug attitude after her husband just shot at a group of people with children in it is very telling. Her referring to them as a "bunch of Hispanics" over and over as well.
The respect the officer showed to the people in the community was heart warming. It takes time and effort to work up to this level of trust from all of them. He deserves a pat on the back for his work
Literally. Unless they murder somebody, they’re always either given a $50 bond, probation, or charges get dropped. No wonder why people have lost all faith in the justice system
That's up to the courts. Pretty positive that cops who have evidence of someone committing a crime and can arrest them do not want that work to go to waste. That's where people who are sick of the soft-on-crime game should vote accordingly. Once elected judges who are just yet fair, will hold someone accountable and protect the communities in which they serve.
The prisons are full. They’re already over-capacity. People are getting released on low bond and probation because they’re unable to place them long term behind bars We need to release all the nonsense incarcerations (non-violent mj charges, etc) to make space these offenders
Illinois is even worse as there is no bond anymore. No regard for the safety of the public. These activists are like "ohh think of the poor criminals". In the immortal words of Jim Carrey..."stop breaking the law a$$hole!"
That first cop is exactly how a police officer should conduct himself in the community. He already knew the residents, so his interactions were personal, which shows he cares. He had the respect of those people because he respected them. Even the guy who was bustin' his chops, apologized for his behavior after the officer took the time to explain why his actions will benefit the case. To bad after all of that, the prosecutor didn't push for a harsher sentence.
I know people like that. They probably want something in return, some kind of compensation. No amount of "im working on it" will satisfy people like that. Its important to be reasonable

something very important was mentioned in this video--one of the cops was familiar with residents of this area. We have a similar program here where I live (called community police), with cops walking on the streets and getting to know people of the neighbourhood. It makes some investigations and arrests much easier and faster for them., as people are not afraid to talk to cops when something bad happens. Much like at the start of this video. People learn to trust cops more, and cops can get assistance from the residents.

It's always funny to me when people who can't even stand up on their own, their toe is rotting away, probably couldn't even jog if he had to, are so tough when they have weapons to flaunt around. It's insane we let people like this out on bond. He should not HAVE a bond. We're talking multiple threats, manufacturing meth, all while on bail for something else. At what point does the judge just say.... "nah, y'all sit and wait for your court date. Your history shows that this isn't a fluke."
Some states have very specific codes and laws that dictate what can be considered for no bond. So as to not hold someone unconstitutionally. Some judges choose to place a very high bond instead which might appear disingenuous as well as potentially unfair to the defendant.
Yea and if it was an h-bomb it would be much much worse…what’s ur point? That if the facts of the case were different the outcome would b different… what a big brain take!

not that I don't respect cops, but a lot of cops in Connecticut (860) wouldn't take this seriously however it may be an everyday to 4 time a week occurrence, my point is a lot of these people are desensitized to the seriousness of the situation. I do live in a high drug rate area and I hope things get better but officers do have to prioritize their lives for the community. In the tri-state area a lot of police officers are for profit and promotions instead of peoples lives (unfortunately), with that being said I'd do anything for the main officer in the video to patrol my neighborhood, doing a real service to his community by being present. But ransom cops are the ones who make the liberal news by doing what they do lol. Which is why people are convoluted (I'm drunk but I think I nail it hope this helps)

No, he's angry that the justice system keeps letting guys like this walk around free to terrorize the community. These cops seem sincere but Lupe is right to be suspicious of the courts that never punish this man.
Maybe if the prosecutors would stop dismissing charges and giving him sweet plea deals with no jail time, he would stop committing crimes. At the very least putting him in jail, even for a short time, would give the community a break from him terrorizing them.
I would think that him preparing for the "booking fees" shows that he has a callous disregard for the LAWS he breaks. They should make his "bond" so much higher that he won't take it for granted ever again! He literally treats the Justice System like the "revolving door" it is. In Wisconsin, you can be charged with a crime for simply being in possession of ANY non-lethal weapon, whether concealed or not, when not in or on your property or that of another with their permission to possess the weapon. The exception is if you have a concealed carry permit for firearms.
It is disgusting how people who deserve to spend time in jail for their actions are slapped on their hands with probation. These judges and lawyers could care less about the effects on the community. For them it’s about making deals and clearing the case and making it look like crime is low because of the amount of people not in prison . The public suffers and the police are put in danger because of lawyers and their lunch time deals. I get it’s the law.
The way they keep mentioning the race of the group of people sure makes it sound like race was a factor.

So, I go in wearing 2-3 white t-shirts, 2-3 pairs of socks and underwear etc. So I'll have my max amount allowed already hahah I don't miss those days. She is definitely in his ear reinforcing his behavior. Her smug attitude after her husband just shot at a group of people with children in it is very telling. Her referring to them as a "bunch of Hispanics" over and over as well.

People are getting released on low bond and probation because they’re unable to place them long term behind bars
We need to release all the nonsense incarcerations (non-violent mj charges, etc) to make space these offenders

something very important was mentioned in this video--one of the cops was familiar with residents of this area. We have a similar program here where I live (called community police), with cops walking on the streets and getting to know people of the neighbourhood. It makes some investigations and arrests much easier and faster for them., as people are not afraid to talk to cops when something bad happens. Much like at the start of this video. People learn to trust cops more, and cops can get assistance from the residents.

not that I don't respect cops, but a lot of cops in Connecticut (860) wouldn't take this seriously however it may be an everyday to 4 time a week occurrence, my point is a lot of these people are desensitized to the seriousness of the situation.
