Many patients will be advised to be on meds prior and after a hair transplant. Hair loss is progressive and of course to different degrees of loss. If the patient has home run donor and can cover all eventualities then meds are not needed. If however they will have more advanced loss then yes, a hair transplant will not stop future loss and this is something we make sure to educate on and also to ensure we do not take extremely young patients an give them super low hairlines that won't age well.
Patients will have anti-biotics, saline spray and then some creams and shampoo, isobetadine etc to facilitate fast healing and printed instructions as to the first few days, week and weeks etc.
Thank you..great observation and the truth is the face is framed, the patient will only get older and the lower you go, the more grafts needed and the more you have extended hair line to crown. So, to go with a conservative approach means less grafts and less to cover for more loss eventualities. It is about the longterm that really counts also. Thanks again.
@@bhrclinic I wish more clinics took all of this into consideration. It seems as if a lot of clinics just want to lower your hairlines as much as possible and pack your head. The way you have gone about it gives it a VERY real look to it
@@BuntTheBlunt We deal almost daily with this problem and again the weekend with a patient from another clinic who totally regrets his low hair line and is young and will suffer extensive loss..We educate endlessly on this and for a few if they have good density then okay and meds but if not it can be a short lived blessing and a longtime curse.
What a result! Id like to see the FUE marks with this many grafts however. Also, you should make the hairline more jagged for a more realistic result, his hairline is too straight.

Thanks for the comments. With any surgery we have to keep in mind donor limitations, loss potential and also the wishes of the patient in how conservative they want to go and saving also for future loss. He is very happy and usually you have to be to share full face as he did. Best wishes and thanks for watching..
Good one. But probably have to take finasteride. So he loses his masculinity in exchange for hair. I was there, have done that. Now I have post finasteride syndrome for 18 years. Took it in 2004, stopped 2005. Never recovered.
Sorry you are experiencing that, for sure not the norm. We rarely see anyone with any long term issues if they have sides on DHT blockers and most patients will have meds also in synergy with surgery, either a DHT blocker or an anagen stimulator such as minoxidil. Also now there are low strength topical fin that is also an option for many. I'd love to see if anyone with these issue retained hair also when coming off, I don't know of a single case as the DHT levels normalise as the shelf life is very short for finasteride so it is a question of debate for many who will not be convinced by it. All the best anyway.
@@bhrclinic I think 90-95% will get away with it. There seems a group of men that are prone to PFS. See Propeciahelp forum. Maybe its a gene thats causing it. Also I read stories where people get away with it on the first try but then start it again after a while and get PFS. For me, I took accutane when I was 16 and then finasteride with 24. I was damaged from accutane already so maybe taking finasteride was like too much for my system and broke it.

A hair transplant is mostly in synergy with medication and also the patient will be able to harvest more from the donor. It is not usually a one and done for most and as said medication is also important to be on. Very few will come off it. Like me saying once you stop eating you will regret it.
@@joedimaggio3146 Age, loss potential, donor capabilities are all assessed and for some they will have home run donor for the loss they will experience, so it is a valid scenario for some patients. The younger they are the more unknown and also they tend to have lower hairlines so caution needed. Excellent question and thank you.
