RM is my bias and I’ve felt for a long time that he struggled with finding his true identity. I can only be thrilled that he’s finally starting to find it with RPWP. This does not mean that he no longer wants to be a part of BTS. He loves being BTS, but for him, and also the rest of the guys, he needs to explore what else he can do in the musical genre of his choice. In the future, if there develops a balance between BTS albums and solo albums, this will be a great opportunity for ARMY, and the world, to experience wonderful music from our seven guys for years to come. The K-Pop world is too small and confining for them.
@@sharonlahaye5803 I feel RM felt he had to sacrifice his personal identity most as the leader of BTS. That he wasn't allowed mistakes. That it would affect the group. The more successful they were the more they had to lose the more burdened and constrained he felt. He distanced himself from his brothers for 18 months to create RP WP( minimoni interview). He genuinely felt producing this own music as experimental and honest as he wanted to be .... given the past of the Korean music industry the fans may turn on him and reject him. That may seem silly to us. But RM has always received the most hate, the first death threats, the least praise for his solo music. All the praise is for his leadership. He forgot BTS has slowly changed what is possible in Korea, in the world. Perhaps because of his humbleness, he did not truely get it. I think ARMYS reaction to Sugas Scooter debacle opened his eyes. That media frenzy would have killed any Korean artists career before. It was everything he feared. Plus Bang has always trusted RM. I believe that he knew everything about Min Hee Jins plan the minute anyone in the company did. I think that like the hate mail in the early days he protected the group, letting them focus on enlistment.
Yes, exactly, SKZ are fans of BTS, and there really isn't anything gained when we cast shade at other groups. BTS doesn't need it. They will always be huge. Let's celebrate!
Regarding Straykids win over jk...yes it’s not their fault. It’s just that bbma’s is the one award that is supposed to be data driven. So when you see that in most of the 2024 charts JK had the highest ranking, it just seem weird that it Stray kids won global artist. One explanation I saw was that this also includes touring data. So I guess that would make sense since no touring for jk but it would be good if there is some transparency on this. About JK winning in kpop category, my attitude there is when it comes to bbma’s at least he got some awards. What’s important is seeing him nominated in a lot of the big categories. Which means that his rankings were competing with the biggest names out there. Unfortunately, without radio, any Korean wouldn’t be able to get those major awards.
I think that category in particular counted their activity in general during late 2023-2024. Stray kids were very active in general, as you said they were touring, released two albums that got number one in bb200. I feel like JK could have perfectly won the award if he was more active this year, but he couldn't due to military. I'm not 100% sure but I think it goes in that way.
One thing I found shocking. I recently saw a teenager on The Voice Kids Germany it was from 2019. Evelyne sang A TRUTH UNTOLD beautifully. The audience response clearly showed they recognised the song. An audience of music lovers. No expert on the panel recognised the song or even the language it was sung in. BTS toured Germany in 2018 the Mercedes Benz Arena. The concert in Berlin sold out in 9 minutes. This level of disinterest by music establishment of the time surprised me. I know it should not. No one commented on how beautiful the song was, it was more about surprise she had learned korean to sing it, and establishing that the words in English were in the origional song. I was trying to think The BEETLES were criticised but I believe their songs would have been recognised or is that just the benefit of hindsight.
