I'm so lucky to have grown up watching hockey in the 90's. My dad would take me to Blackhawks games on school nights. We lived in northwest Indiana and it was a 2.5 hour drive to the UC and a 2.5 hour drive back. I would sleep on the way back home in the car and get up and go to school in the morning. He would get get a few hours of sleep then go to work at 6am. My dad recently passed away and I have so many fond memories with him. We must have went to 20+ Blackhawks games throughout the 90's. Thanks for sharing this!
Opening 'They want to play a tough hard and intelligent game'. Followed by Ciccone trying to fight McCarty who can't due to a hand injury. Ciccone gets 2 mins. Detroit scores. Real intelligent.
Ciccone also got a 10-min misconduct for that as well. And what happens on the ensuing power-play? Dino Ciccarelli gets a goal. I'd say Ciccone would exceed at being intelligent right there, and by exceed, I mean fail!!
I had a hockey magazine back then that rated most of the NHL players. I distinctly remember teh author's take on Enrico "There must be 2 Enrico Ciccones in the NHL because one can't be that dumb." Enrico is a politician in Quebec now according to Wiki. Haha
hockey is such a fast, technical game now. feel bad for those who missed 90s gritty, honest hockey. the foxtrax, the hockey commercial robots, etc are just icing on the cake
What I also notice is how much space there used to be on the ice. Everything is so north-south, clogged up, and system based. It’s like the game got too fast. I still love the sport but it’s not what it used to be.
It's a pity we didn't have an opportunity to watch these games back then in Russia. We got some news but that's about it. Now watching makes me really proud of the Russian 5. Showed some amazing and tough hockey. Thank you
After college in the 90's I never missed a Red Wings game. The Blackhawks and Blues games were always the best. I remember around 95 against the Blues we had a large fight near the end of the game and Yzerman was involved. They interviewed Kelly Chase of the Blues afterwards in the locker room about Yzerman punching him (from behind) during the scrum. He said "Yeah, it felt like someone was hitting me with a pillow from behind and when I saw it was Yzerman I just laughed". Awesome memories with these teams and going to JLA.
awood40. Thanks for the upload. I had a request: Can you upload the other two meetings this season in Chicago? I'll give you the dates: January 27, 1996 & March 3, 1996
5:56- Unfortunately for Steve Smith, that caught him in the wrong spot and broke a little bone in his leg which thankfully is NOT of a supportive nature, so you can play if you can stand the pain. That led to the scrums you saw during the game and an exchange between the NHL and the Blackhawks organization in fact, AFTER the game as well!
I want #NHLHockey back as it once was, the visiting team wearing the dark jerseys, the home team wearing the light jerseys. #StuGrimson was a disaster, disappointment playing for the #DetroitRedWings, #BobProbert was better!
Chelios was washed, here. He was a bum with Detroit too. Lidstrom carried him those first few years. After that, they held on to Chelios like a fn tumor.
6:50 "McCarty can't fight." I'm hoping that was in relation to D-Mac having medical reasons for not fighting, or that's one dumb statement right there.

We didnt know how good we had it back then.
truth
Except for that stupid flaming puck idea.
Original six hockey from the Norriy division 😊
No kidding.... hockey aside we didn't know how good the 90's were
Man when hockey was a game
Wow seeing Vladimir Konstantinov play is amazing. He was my favorite Red Wing. He was probably the most hated player by opposing teams.
As a Wings fan I couldnt stand Chelios until he played for the Wings, then I thought he was great!

Just feels right to hear Doc calling a Wings/Hawks game
Growing up and watching hockey in the 90's...I never knew then that I would miss it. Heck, even the awful foxtraxx is nostalgic.

The glow puck was the stupidest thing they ever did
@@AI-Bundy very stupid at the time but I kind of like it now just because of the nostalgia lol.
@@AI-Bundy No it was great. That shit was so hard to see on the turn dial tvs with rabbit ears back then. Only chance we saw the puck was the glow.
@@AI-Bundy
Fox dumbing it down to the American audience…a joke!
It's a pity we didn't have an opportunity to watch these games back then in Russia. We got some news but that's about it. Now watching makes me really proud of the Russian 5. Showed some amazing and tough hockey. Thank you
I miss this type of hockey
When Crosschecking was legal...yeah great plays xD
This wings team is incredible
I remember that glowing hockey puck. 😂😂😂😂😂
Only now, in my 60s, do I actually appreciate it.

I remember this game! Not every day you see McCarty NOT drop the gloves.
and Yzerman DOES lol
McCarty had a hand injury. Hey most definitely would have fought Enrico cecconi without a doubt.....
Maybe the current wings could do some film study on the old wings and learn a thing or two.
Let the boys sort it out. I miss 90s hockey. I miss JLA. I miss the Russian 5. I miss octopus.
Was so happy when Chelios came to play for Detroit
2:36 YES!!! They puck tracking that sent the puck magically floating in the crowd!!!
Look! It's Enrico Ciccone!
Man, the 90s were something else.
Hey!
It's Enrico Pallazzo!
I miss the old NHL more than anything else sportwise.
The NHL on FOX!
If I’m not mistaken they played a few days later and Dino KO’d Ciccone. Please do that game next 🔥🔥🔥
Already did that game, link on screen at end of video.
@ what a frickin guy you are!
Man I miss this hockey
Loved the robots as a kid
I forgot just how different hockey was back then.... I muss it.
Such a cool flashback!
Good times!
158 penalty minutes looked promising until I realized most of them were misconducts, roughing, high-sticking...
Blackhawks werent too interested in playing “hockey” 😂😂
Cheli was an absolute menace in Chicago before being traded to the Wings
The year after this after Kocur was back in Detroit both Chicago and Bob Probert got their come upings!!!
I remember this game. It was all Ciccone! Enrico was cool.
Grimson and Probart
Amazing stuff in the old days
Those guys were throwing
Thanks for these! What was that racket at 5:00 lol
I remember that noise. Every time a team scored and FOX displayed the score, they used their animated graphics.
THIS is hockey!
Seeing Belfor doing thise sneaky ass rabbit punches reminds me how much I hated him at the time. Now i actually miss the whole thing.
I miss lighting puck what did they using this flashing puck ?
Gary Suter never saw a blindside hit he didn't love
Mr. Magoo, the Angel Hernandez of NHL refs!
Yeah, he was pretty awful in that era. And you spelled his name right! 😂
Francois St Laurent should get a dishonorable mention, though.
awood40.
Thanks for the upload. I had a request:
Can you upload the other two meetings this season in Chicago?
I'll give you the dates:
January 27, 1996
&
March 3, 1996
Красная машина 🎉🎉
19:41 2 minutes for intimidation
5:56- Unfortunately for Steve Smith, that caught him in the wrong spot and broke a little bone in his leg which thankfully is NOT of a supportive nature, so you can play if you can stand the pain.

Don't think I've ever seen a team come completely unglued in a single game as Chicago did in this game.
Спасибо!!
Get you a coach like Scotty. They play so smart
Belfor... what trash he was. One of the biggest POS players in the game. Nice to see the guys put him in his place.
The John Daly of hockey
80s and 90s hockey was the best ! Gotta admit I've never seen McCarty act like a beyotch before
thanks awood there were some fireworks for sure
Man when hockey was a game
I forgot about that ridiculous glowing puck thing.
The friggin glowpuck....
The NHL totally ruined their product getting rid of all the rough stuff and trying to be mature.
Stu always stood toe to toe with Probert but Stu got beat badly by Joey Kocur every time!!!
No, Kocur never beat him badly. The only win you can maybe give him was when he shed his jersey like a bitch.
Вот то игра ! Вот то настоящий хоккей ! А не то , что сейчас балет .😊
The Wings were loaded. Almost not fair
All I could think about while watching this is how dumb the glow puck was! 😂😂😂
Dino,,,the little ball of hate. Thanks Mikey Redman. Memories.
The Lightbulb Pucks
Wow! That was ugly. Also, Yzerman with the clinic on the box play. That's a Captain.
I want #NHLHockey back as it once was, the visiting team wearing the dark jerseys, the home team wearing the light jerseys.
#StuGrimson was a disaster, disappointment playing for the #DetroitRedWings, #BobProbert was better!
Я не понимаю почему сейчас не используют эту тему с подсветкой шайбы?В КХЛ хотя-бы внедрили при повторах.
Belfor blows. True wings fans will definitely get the reference.
You could hit bobby with a brick and wouldn't hurt him 😂😂😂
Well, Fetisov surely gave away that shutout.
You bite your tongue
Holy glow puck!
Let's rename the team from chicago to "chicago idiots". It fits better with this team together.
This Chicago team was a bunch of goons
I get hes HOF but i never got the hype on Chelios
Forgot how much I hated Fox's gimmicky BS
Ciccone never should play hockey
Eh Probert looked better in a Wings jersey
Chelios was washed, here. He was a bum with Detroit too. Lidstrom carried him those first few years. After that, they held on to Chelios like a fn tumor.
6:50 "McCarty can't fight." I'm hoping that was in relation to D-Mac having medical reasons for not fighting, or that's one dumb statement right there.
It was.
Шенохон со.со😂 в Нью Джерси,но В Детройте с Русскими раскрылся на все 100%
I am watching this gritty highlights over a live red wings game … current squad has no heart, I stopped watching them
I went to see a fight the other night and all of a sudden a hockey game broke out.
Расскатали индейцев!
Chelios the all time biggest Sissy of the NHL and Chicago the biggest hacks...Never seen him fight anyone tough. His shot was also weak as hell....
Poor McCarty not being allowed to Fight had to suck
Balfour stinks, Big sieve and way over rated
Грязная игра во всей красе. Из подтишка, криво, подло. Смотреть противно. BlackHawks - помойка.
Love me a little Fox Tracker Puck action! I have one! LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘
