I'm an HVAC Tech 30 years, you need to make sure power is off and verify with a volt meter first, you should explain Line Voltage and load

You really should shut the breaker off feeding the disconnect box for safety.

The breaker has be cut off. The reason is that the AG3000 was supposed to be connected to the Line side in the Quick Disconnect.

Pretty sure you should be connecting the surge protector to the line side of the disconnect not the load side. This would also require you to open the breaker going to the disconnect from the main or sub panel.

Could have been good. Better lightning and less idle talking, only what is absoluely neccesary

your line and load leads are backwards on your disconnect. and the surge-to-gnd unit should be on the line not the load. plugging in the disconnect can cause premature failure or the sga unit.

This is done completely wrong. Two wires cannot be pushed in the same slot. It's a fire hazard and code violation. Secondly, the protector is wired to the wrong wires. It goes to the load, not the compressor. Pigtail must be used to prevent a fire.

Question - Why did you use a SYCOM surge protector on the main panel but on AC disconnect you used Intermatic AG3000? Is there any difference between the two?

Did you just run it in series with the line side using the two black wires and land your white wire with a neutral or is that the ground?

When it comes to wiring and electric troubleshooting I rely on my volt meter. I am color blind.

What if someone hooked it up at the bottom of the box . Ours is now it got water in it. I called the guy that put it up. Still can't come back to put a new one in. Thanks for the video.

  • @Gsxr617

No bueno - should be connected to the line side and also should not be double lugged. Need to make pig tails to make your connections with this specific ag3000 surge protector.
