your watercolor pencil vids are the BEST, bar none! i love this tool and i struggle with it. you’d think watercolor pencils would be the easiest thing. they’re deceptively complicated!

Thank you! Let me know of any specific problem you're having I could elaborate on in a future video.

@@paintingandchocolate 🙏 how thoughtful! i grabbed my h2o pencils just now to see if i could talk myself into the 100 inktense set. these questions may be super specific to me, but here goes!
(also im about 100% sure you’ve covered all these separately in various vids- sorry this is rather scattered)
      1. i’m a watercolorist so i have every imaginable kind of paper. nothing seems… right. is there anything else you can think of for a paper deep dive
      2. are there traditional watercolor habits and “rules” i should change or throw out for pencils since it’s technically a totally different medium?
      3. i’m a wizard with my inktense pans. my h20 inktense don’t have the same depth
      4. 👆 speaking of, i got a handle on color mixing, but layering never looks … nice
      5. i’ll look bc you’ve prob talked about it- dürer vs caran d’ache vs inktense. all very different, i know. is there a marked quality concern between inktense and the others? i’m not worried about anything archival at the moment

Thank you for all this feedback honestly it's helpful to know what to tackle in the videos. Thank you! For paper just avoid the rough or cold press that is on the rough side 👍

Thank you so much for these videos, you are right, there arent enough videos with watercolor pencil tutorials, I have wanted to use them since I was in elementary school 20 years ago :D but never knew how to do it properly, I like your style a lot, and these are so helpful. Here I am 20years later with more confidence I could do it because of your helpful videos. Thanks

The idea of using a blunt lead is completely brilliant. It had not dawned on me that having a sharp pencil would actually create the lines you were trying to avoid when using watercolor pencils or ink tense

This is by far the best video I’ve watched on inktense pencils. Thanks for all the great tips. Inktense pencils work best for me on hot pressed watercolor paper or any smooth watercolor paper. I love them and haven’t used them enough due to the lines which I also do not like. Another tip I discovered was adding small amounts of water after all layers are applied to get a beautiful final blend. Emphasis on small amount of water. Blessings to you!

It depends on how they feel to you as you use them. I know I prefer natural hair in paintbrushes, or an imitation of that because they glide on paper and take a lot of water.

Do you use separate brushes with your Inktense pigments? I've always heard you shouldn't use the same brushes you use with watercolor with other kinds of paint. But, that was a long time ago, and, just wonder if that's still a "best practice" in taking care of brushes.

I use the same, have been for 2 years and not noticing anything. It washes off just fine. I wonder why this could be a problem though.

I use tiny circles when I use pencils. This lays it down heavily without lines.
