I am the lucky winner of the May Weldclass Welder 180MST combo bundle. What a prize and it will be put to work soon. Everything that came in the bundle looks and feels excellent quality. Thanks Jeff and big thanks to Weldclass Welders!!
I’ll be ordering some extra gear and consumables very soon 👍
Congratulations mate. I hope you get many years of use out of it and get to build some cool projects.
Well done Jeff. I think a lot of viewers - including myself - thought you were doing the whole roof. That turned out great!
Chopping up the bus!!! Can’t wait to see that getting done!
I am looking forward to it!
@@HomeBuiltByJeff yeah this is gonna be super interesting to see how you attack it. Looking forward to it.
Great work on the roof panel Jeff. Looking forward to "Coaster Chaos" next episode 😂
Thanks mate, me too :D
So I've been a few weeks behind on this project, but I saw you over on the Crucible Coachworks channel on Saturday, and it all makes sense now.
I could be wrong about this, but from what I've learned from Ryan is that Shape is a curve in more than one direction, Form is a curve in one direction.
Great work Jeff, I'll get all caught up today 😁
Knew you’d need the English 🏴 at some point 😂. Great work
I've been to Bowral and it's all yours in winter ;) Even Sydney is now below 10 degrees at night. I still have memories of driving down to Canberra in the middle of winter and getting out of the nice warm truck around 4 a.m. to below zero, it was great to get back into the truck.
Told you to do it yourself! 😂. Just look at how nice it came out, and how much fun you had doing it!
Jeff that was absolute genius !! If i had to list your top 5 videos, this one would be in there !! Fantastic work !!
I think Mrs Jeff needs a cuddle to keep her warm 🏴👍🏻
Concentration tongue is a sign of genius. I am loving this project and looking forward to the bus teardown.
It’s been 40c with the humidex here lately - I’d love 6c right now! 😅😉 great job on the new panel Jeff, awesome that you had success on the first try! Looking forward to seeing the bus tear down next✌️
Thanks mate. The bus teardown should be fun :D
Dude!!! I first learnt about the English wheel in the Biker Build off series in the 90s where they built choppers. Mainly to make the fuel tanks & fenders. I couldn't fathom how they used it to make those shapes. This video, finally made me understand the concept of how an English wheel works. & I am bloody impressed how well you did for your first go & how you made a ignoramus like me understand how it was possible for you to do.
Mrs. Jeff, you cheeky young lass, love the zoom in on the "concentration tongue" ❤
Happy trails, Cowpoke
Its coming together so well. Fair play for a novice on an engkish wheel. You are giving me false hope in my own abilities to do something like this.
Jeff and Mrs Jeff,
I have been catching up on 680 and Harry since I missed the majority of your videos on them. And also with Alfa… Alfer… Alfarreri… the yellow car! And to be honest I really don’t care what you’re working on as long as it is on building. I sincerely enjoy watching you work and learn but mostly you are honest about your mistakes and misbehaving!
Always look forward for the next episodes on whatever they might be. And Mrs Jeff’s bloopers at the end are a great way end with.
Dan
Great work on the roof! This is a ton of work but you’ll really have some special when your done Jeff 👍🏻😁👋🏻
Come on Jeff get it sand blasted and painted after all your hard work it deserves it keep up the good work Tom from South Africa
Jeff, here in Adelaide i finally pulled out the gasless MIG I bought some years ago and made some stuff. My mate Larry helped me, but I had been taking confidence from your welding examples in your videos. I now have stands for my sandblasting cabinet (65mm box section steel 5mm thick) and a 25mm box section on for my router bench, as well as making a proper work bench. Thanks for the inspiration. Nice work on the wheel - I used one years ago and found it pretty intuitive to use, too.
Hey Jeff. Thanks for another interesting video. The cut-tac process is something I have never heard of until now but will watch it again a few times more in slow motion to get a better idea how it is done. Thanks for your interesting surgery ,M8.Stay well. 👌👍🇦🇺
Finally just finished sanding my 55 gmc truck and dropped it off to be painted today! Thanks for all the inspiration to do it myself and passing on your knowledge! Love watching this truck series q
It’s always fun watching you learn as you go and get such great results. You have really become one of my favorite channels. And this is such a cool project. I would have thought that planishing hammer would have been the right tool for getting that roof smooth. But I love how you did that panel. 😊👍👍
Can't wait to see your spay painting aged look and of course the rest of the beast
Hey Jeff you are an inspiration for me. The effort and perseverance to press on despite any setbacks and failures has been a huge help to push me through projects that have been sitting around for far too long. Thanks for all your hard work and patience it has been a huge help along my own path.
I'm restoring a '61 Giulietta at the moment for which I need to make a new front. I've bought a small English wheel to do this in smaller sections to then weld together. I also have 0 experience with English wheels and your results are very re-assuring to me. Nice result!
From m VERY limited experience. Take your time and work up to what you need.
Don't be afraid to fail, the expert at anything was once a novice.
My wife said I couldn't name our children after cars. I made a bet that if I could find car names she liked, I got to name the kids.
Our first daughter is named Giulietta!
As always, a pleasure watching you work 👍👏😊
Nice work with that English Wheel on your first go. I'm learning so much just watching you work, loving it! Can't wait to see how you tackle that bus chassis! Thanks, Marko from Langebaan, South Africa.
Hi Jeff, Fantastic job/attention to detail on the roof! That didn't look like a fun job to resolve.... Well done with the wheeling too, looking forward to seeing it all come together with the bus chassis 👍
Demo is where the funnnnn is
Great video teaching us how to close up a sunroof hole!
Great work Jeff, your improvement in skills is truly inspirational. Looking forward to the next episode , hope there will be a lot of chopping
Great job as usual! Weird to see you guys cold cuz it's hot and humid here in Florida! Thanks for sharing your builds for us to watch!
Great seeing that roof panel being made. Regarding gasless mig wire - I had several attempts over the years with little success until my welder mate told me I had to reverse the polarity for gasless wire (+ earth and - hand piece). It was close to life changing and an Instant improvement. Now i save the gas expense for just tig and use gasless for mig.
Actually that is what I forgot. Good tip.
Yup, Mrs Jeff looks absolutely ecstatic... 😂
You should hit up Crucible Coach Works in the US for panel shaping ideas. Those guys are Porsche lovers and have skills!
@CrucibleCoachworks do great work.
Great series the frankehauler. Looking forward to the next stage
I agree about convertibles mainly because they can be destroyed by vandals, Jeff.
We part ways about sunroofs. Mine's brilliant especially on winter nights with icy air on the face while the heater keeps the feet warm!
Great job. Fun to watch every week. Keep going.
For my American friends, Jeff didn't say "Cat Fished", he said "Cab Finished" 🙂
what a job!😅But you have shaped the roof very nicely and appropriately, nice to look at 👍🏻🙂
Looking forward the the bus tear down episodes!
Another cool video. Look 4wd to these practical and entertaining videos
Great progress Jeff, looking forward to the next Bus stage! Bill Mc
Great work Jeff, I am looking forward to the next episode.
Good work Jeff! I think you have been watching Fitzee's fabrications, the ol cut n but!
That English Wheel worked a treat! Great video, also lover seeing the cut-tac method makes sense for this large of a panel.
Lovely and sunny here in the UK!.. looking fwd to seeing it finished
Great progress! Can't wait for the next bit!!
Fitzee's Cut&Butt method is great!
Can't wait Jeff 🙂
I remember at trade school when I was younger I got my finger caught in the English wheel jeez I can still remember the pain 😂
Great job on the roof!
Nice one Jeff the roof looks great
Something tells me you have comfortable seats picked out for that truck.
Coming along nicely mate 👍 If you've got a shrinking disc then that'll work wonders on the old parts of the roof panel. I'd never used one before and got a compound curve Beetle door back into good shape by using that along with hammer n dolly. It works wonders on shrinking high spots and pulling low points up.
The bus tear down is something I have been looking forward to since you started this project!
Great work on the shaping, but I don't have room for the wheel. I would have fill welded holes and skimmed it. I can't wait for my garage to be built so I have more room.
Hey up nice work on the roof must feel great to leave the cab for a while and actually start your build
Hi mate really enjoyed the current video it's coming along awesome mate .can't wait to see what you are going to do with the chassis
you did an awesome job, it's very inspiring. thanks 😀
Every change you do is for the better. Great series in the making.
This project is my favorite by far. I look forward to the next episode.👍
Well done Jeff.
Cleeco's are a wonderful tool, everyone should have in their box.
yeh dude, that came out nice, gota get me one of those for the single cab roof :)
Great work, Jeff! Liked the cut and tack method
Looking forward to next week!
Gloves Jeff mate..
Incorporation them into your work!
Mrs Jeff would appreciate it..
Great job mate!
well done jeff
That’s some massive progress, nice work
Clever work.....
Tbh, european winters are not that cold either lately
Jeff;
_I don't like sunroofs_
..
Proceeds to make a body coloured sunroof, the fact its welded in is inmaterial😆.
..
Nice metal working the rood panel Jeff.
Difficult piece to make.
..
Amazing how just a small amount of curve strengthens a panel.
..
Definitely think the clecos help because it puts a bit of tension in the panel against the roof.
Making it easier to identify high and low areas.
...
I too am looking forward to "demolition derby"
of the bus💪
Was thinking the same: ironic that the (very nicely done) patch is sunroof sized
Nice Job Jeff 👍😎👍
All hail the all-powerful Algorythm! Ciao from Italy
It's a comment for the algorithm 🤷♂️😆
Who's this new guy, who uses the same piece of metal he started with, and then welds it in place, first time?
Looking good 👍
Hey Jeff, nice work 👍💪✌️
Well done Jeff 🇩🇰🇳🇿👌🏻
You're wrong, Jeff. We did need to see the concentration tongue 😂
1 Jeff = 1 instalike
A carbon roof would have been cool too
Looking forward to the bus strip down and head scratching
Cut an But welding technique - yeah !
If I had a wheel, I wouldn't be building a new track car now! Stupid sunroof hole.
"It's not [Insert here]; but, it's home built!"
You should make something with the old panel, like a sign.
Jeff, the " Self Taught" Guy's are usually better, more thorough! Jeff there's a Guy self -taught Chris Birdsong RUclips channel ( JunkerUp) from Vegas NV, USA strictly dies 1968 to 1970's RT Chargers! He's like you with metal some of the cars he almost replaces everything! Dean( Soul) Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
👍👍👍👍
😂Highlight has to be this; 😝🤪
Yikes. Just put a sunroof in lol. I think I'd have just used chopped glass where there were pinholes (inside and out) and just used filler.
Great work Jeff! Quick question, what gauge steel did you use? Also what's the "Cut and Tack" method? Cleko pins are a life saver, I swear by them :)
0.9mm
📺 👀👂
👍🏻🍺👏
All hail the algorithm.
-2°c! *laughs in Canberran*
Love your work Jeff but that is a crap sunroof! (Please forgive me)😊
Jeff I sent you link on FB messenger, regarding the UK T⁷ design works
I can't see anything. You can DM me on Insta
agree 100% convertibles suck and so do sunroofs lol
Was the polarity swapped for gasless?
No I forgot, which is probably why the weld was so terrible ;)
