These 80's and 90's Cubs games bring back fond memories of them on WGN at my grandparent's house. Games like this and many others is what made pro baseball special.

I'm not even a Cubs fan, but a hated Reds fan. But I loved this season. Where I lived, our only options for baseball on TV were the Braves and Cubs, and I watched every game I could - mostly at my grandparents' house. And now, all these years later, I remember this Cubs team so fondly.
one month after this game I moved in 5 houses north of the left field wall on Kenmore Ave, Great neighborhood to live in, now days it is too expensive to live there, those were the Days
The announcer mentions how well Dravecky was doing in his comeback from cancer. Three days after this broadcast, he suffered a career ending broken arm while pitching. I remember this season very well.
@@dennisandry1632 Actually you got me curious. It sounds like former Cy Young winner Steve Stone, I've heard interviews with him and he may have been with the Cubs this year but I'm not positive
Love the powder blues, but I must say this version of the Phillies road greys is pretty sweet. I'd love to see them ditch the red, white and blue and go back to the maroon and white of the golden era of the '70's and '80's.
Please upload the doubleheader between the Phillies vs Cubs the following day after this game. That was the first time I ever went to a game at Wrigley field 8/12/1989 and also went to the game on Sunday 8/13/1989 when Von Hayes hit an inside the park grand slam when Jerome Walton injured his shoulder crashing into the wall in CF. If you have those games too that would be awesome
I wish the Commish would institute a mandatory uniform rule where you must where the stirrups. How much nicer, cleaner and more professional. Today's players look like they slept in their uniforms. I love the Cubbies. Tough year like "84 kept from the series by another one-pitch home run from Popeye, Steve Garvey.

I would wonder that Harry consumes at least 3, maybe 4 or 5 cans of Budweisers a game. Which would mean on average Harry would consume about 243, maybe 324 or 405 cans of Budweiser at least every home game a year at Wrigley Field.

Too bad u took out all those nostalgia commercials - really BAD idea - but WORSE idea to put the games score in the title - entirely ruins the possible drama one could experience in watching/enjoying the game. I knew the game was over when Sandberg hit the home run 1:52:15 - but theres 45 more minutes of game still to go.
