I wear them all the time bcs they are beautiful, the workmanship is breathtaking. You are correct about the sizing. I like to wear mine over cashmere sweaters and pants. When I started working I bought myself a fine cashmere sweater every Christmas as a reward for the year's hard work.Quality natural fabrics last forever. I dont apologize! I dont ask permission to wear beautiful things curated and taken care of over a lifetime. Great things never go out of style. I find younger women are loving vintage items bcs of the quality and craftmanship. Actually, before fast fashion all women expected higher quality. I'm also a boomer who has 4 walk-in closets. I danced at Regine's, The Blue Angel, Cachaca and the Copacabana. The latter nightclub/supper club was an important stepping stone for many comics & singers. I own vintage YSL & Nina Ricci which were brand new when I bought them in Vienna on their Madison Ave "Kaertner Strasse." I paid full price @ age 17 when I graduated high school. My parents made a fuss, but paid for the items. I''ve worn them on many memorable occasions-- they no longer fit, but I'll always keep them. Born & bred in Europe, pret-a-porter didn't exist in the post-WW II era. My mother's couturier designed & made my clothes as well. My father's clothes (suits, shirts, tied) were also designed & made. He chose the fabrics just as my mother did. People like you Nikol & others, who choose to wear vintage, are in fact saving the planet one outfit at a time. Landfills are full & the Fashion industry -- guilty of disposal instant fashion -- is the third largest waster of WATER -- a most precious & not always renewable resource. I’m 78! I feel the same way! I love the same kind of clothes Nikol does. I just don’t have anywhere to wear them anymore! My Mom wore designer clothes but she never payed full price for anything! Always waited for sales. She had saleswomen who would put things aside for her. One night she was dressed to go out but came back to her dressing room to comb her hair. She raised her arm and the sleeve of her gown came away from the dress! Seems the sleeve had been basted into the body of the gown but they hadn’t gone back in and actually sewn it! This occasionally happens with handmade clothes! Mom was just glad it happened at home! One of my favorite pieces of hers was a gold beaded jacket. After Mom passed away we gave it to a young friend who was same size as Mom…2-4. Mom wore it with evening gowns. Our friend wears it with genes! I forget the designer. It might have been de la Renta.

My mother is a living Barbie doll, who at 88 still makes an effort to dazzle. Watching you brings me joy. Embrace who you are everyday, aging can be difficult, you become invisible. Some of my most favorite clothes are vintage. No special labels, but my style. I have always used your philosophy with my furniture and decor, but really did not realize that I did it with clothes. Recently diagnosed with an auto immune disorder, so wearing fun clothes really lifts my spirit. Thanks for sharing what lifts your spirits.

Always love your dress up sessions. When you said you have never worn the gorgeous Oscar suit I thought “what that’s crazy”. But you know what, I have done the same thing. Sometimes just trying on something fabulous is a therapy session and a good reason to have something extra special. Doesn’t matter what it is…..If i t makes you feel good and revived, it’s worth it.
