- 200TH VIDEO!!
In early October 2023, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum operated the Summerville Steam Special after 4 years away. The first run in September was a double header featuring both Southern 630 & Southern 4501. For the October runs, only the 4501 would be featured, but they still put on a great show!
The train runs from the museum in Chattanooga, TN, towards its destination of Summerville, GA. There, the 4501 is turned on the turntable and leads the train back north to Chattanooga.
This video features a variety of shots from both directions of the trip, including some not normally captured on the northbound return trip. You'll also see pacing of the engine along Holtzclaw Ave in Chattanooga, along with numerous runbys, turntable action, classic vehicles, a photo runby in Georgia, and more. Sit back and enjoy nearly 45 minutes of the Summerville Steam Special!

It was ALL about Steam back in the Day and Today it’s ALL about Diesel Electric which is a Huge Improvement from the Past in many way. Thanks for Sharing.👍
Great video! I chased them the day prior to this. Hope to see you out there in 2024! I subscribed to your channel.
I was at the Chattanooga zoo when I got to see this exact train.
Beautiful! Especially love the horn sound.
I rode end of October 2023 and hope to ride again in 2024

The whistle Sound Like N&W 611 At 5:51
Really digging that PS4 whistle!
It’s not a PS4 whistle, it’s a Virginia and Southwestern 3 chime. 630 and 610 have work it prior.
@@PereMarquette1223the V&SW was basically a 1-for-1 copy of the Ps-4 whistle, albeit with a bottom lever nathan valve instead of a Southern Railway top-lever poppet valve.
@@SouRwy4501Productions well it’s got the bottom lever, so it’s not Southern.
@@PereMarquette1223 well, I did mention that the V&SW did modify the design a little bit. The bottom lever was one of the modifications to the design.
@@SouRwy4501Productions the folks at TVRM do not mention anywhere that this is a modified whistle, so I’m going off of what they say. No disrespect
The Mikados, in my opinion, are the best and most classic looking steam locomotives.
I agree. They’re (in my opinion) the most well-proportioned steam locomotives ever built. The mikados and consolidations have the right blend of large and small features on a medium sized locomotive. That makes them more versatile and efficient.

1:58 Yo 4501, are you trying to act like Pere Marquette 1225 with all of that smoke?
I'm sorry, but between wearing the Southern 3-chime for so long and having it become so iconic, I just can't dig this new deep-sounding whistle.
I don’t blame you, man! I’m not really the biggest fan of this whistle as well.
