Highly doubt it would happen again but this girl visited Rook yard (Pittsburgh) back in the late 70's.....hope NS gets it's head out of the clouds and realizes what a great PR tool these steamers were. 4501, 1218, 611.... bring em back to the mainline!
They should re name NS to PRR systems. Bring the Keystone back...
This happened with SP #4449 back in 1991-1992 and it was setting off hotbox detectors the whole way down the mountain!
Keith Moffat sadly its all about the money these days, I’m just glad for all the great people from the old SRR had such a passion and donated so much history to the Tennessee valley RR and other museums and the awesome work they do so all is not lost!

I love that quilling part at the end
Great to see good ole’ 4501 out and about again
Southern Railway 4501 is another beautiful locomotive. I would like to see this engine in the state of Tennessee.
Great video! 4501 served the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company well for 15 years. I live in Stearns and the old timers on the BSFSR and K&T recall the "big engine" fondly.
If you ever get a chance to drop down to McCreary County and video, let me know.
What an elegant machine
Great video, I love the old Southern 4501 although I miss the silvan green paint.
I rode behind Steam locomotive #610 years ago at TVRM. i wanna say 2000 or 2001. Don't quite remember the year.Nice to see this
one in steam.
Man that was awesome in the beginning of it coming thru the tunnel!
Great to see her working. I'm sure she's happy to be out pulling again too. Much thanks.
G
I like the fact they had a matching all red train with no stainless steel or other colored cars.
Cool video!!!...🤙😎🤘👏
Excellent video!!
Excellent work DIB! Always top quality in your videos!
Got to ride behind Southern 630 at tvrm and saw 4501 outside the shops
It reminds me of my golden childhood days when steam engines were so much prevalent in India.
There should one day be a recreation of the 1984 film "Chattanooga Choo Choo" starring #4501!
This is one of my favorite videos hats off to you for getting that kind of footage I've rode this train quite a few times it never gets old I love every minute of it👍👍🚂
4501 is the best locomotive ever
I first saw this on baby Einstein. I didn’t know what number it was until now!
I really want to go to Summerville on 4501
so cool
Awesome
Anyone else notice that this is at the location of one of virtual railfan's cameras?
Great chasing with you! Like how your shot at rock spring turned out
Pensacola Planespotter Thanks!
@@DelayInBlockProductions hey dib. I loved the video, and was wondering if I could use some footage for a complication.
4:04 looks like the tracks just go into the road
Every time I see the " D.I.B. " on the side of a building I think about you guys! Apparently, it's a local gang around Chattanooga. Lol
Missionary Ridge was my favorite coach car
Running without a modern engine for breaks? Also great to hear that whistle
There aren't any serious grades on this line and the track speed isn't very high. Plus the locomotive is equipped with modern style brakes. Those 5 coaches are light for that engine. And they never run with a diesel on these excursions.
Nice.
Love the 4501 I've always loved trains I'd really like to see you guys purchase the Ringling brothers and Barnum bailey old abandoned passenger cars from there circus days and restore them bring them back to use again I love those old passenger cars I love trains aspecially steam locomotive and the 4501
3:25 their is a lotta smoke and steam STILL pouring out the tunnels end!
Some guy was behind that tree at Rock Spring. Looks familiar..
Good Video. 🇮🇳
DIB under bridge, no way? No one caught that?
Loved it! however it would be nice to hear more chuffing.
Cool
I hope they restore the building in the thumbnail because almost all photos of 4501 have that building in them
That old building at Rock Spring is privately owned, and the owner has expressed zero interest in restoring it.
Nothing better sounding than a nice Steam Whistle echoing, like at 15:53.
ruclips.net/video/TSY5s34YRiA/видео.html
How's the restoration going on 610 at the Tennessee valley museum I heard that it's restoration might be complete this year so it can do a triple header with 4501 and 630 is it true and has a date been announced yet?
610's work has barely even begun from what I have heard.
still wish they would've painted her green
That really needs a caboose
What camera do you use?
3:33 we get it bro u vape
Hunt Gaming/Productions Hahahaha
This is a great video! Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 630 100 year old? It still looks fantastic and is my favorite at the TVRM
Whistle Productions I believe Southern 630 is 115 years old.
Whistle Productions 630 is just shy of 112 years if I remember correctly.
Delay In Block Productions She is 115, finished in February of 1904.
That devil drives that long black train-josh turner
Believe it or not, the music video was filmed here.
Is this the same engine that Johnny Cash drove for the intro of Riding the Rails Documentary?
Yes.
Where is the tunnel spot in this video? (Coordinates)
It would be nice to see 4501 painted green.
Red Cowboy 95 Couldn’t agree more.
Red Cowboy 95 No, it wasn't a passenger locomotive, that's what torn apart 722 is for.
@@MatthewPowell509 Oh yeah, I remember that locomotive.
722 was a freight locomotive and went green as a mate for 4501. I am curious why you say it is not a passenger locomotive when this video shows it pulling passenger cars. Whatever it may have been built for, it now pulls passenger cars and Southern passenger engines are green!
Jacob Woods Why, I have to live with you for 3 weeks this summer.
Pardon me Boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo-Choo??
0:45 is that travis Gordon
Yes.
"And then there was one"
Who owns the line to Summerville?
Harriman Fox The State of Georgia owns the line from the TAG Interchange at Roseville to Lyerly, Georgia. They have an operating agreement with G&W/Chattooga and Chickamuaga. TVRM has the belt line on long term lease from NS.
"Crime is fun" lmao
shoutouts to Jhonny Cash
Are you going tomorrow PLEASE TELL ME why? Because I’m going tomorrow and I don’t know here the crossings are HELP
rip Johnny Cash
I wonder why they didn't have the observation car on this run.
MrSteelman335 They only had like 50 passengers.
@@DelayInBlockProductions makes sense. I'm riding on March 16 and im in the observation car. I was worried that there were some kind of mechanical problems with it.
54 I believe. Generally the goal for a “regular trip” is 100, or at least 75/80.
8:30 You are shameless! Shameless! ;)
How old is 4501? If she was built October 30 1911 would that make her 112?
As of 2022, she's 111 years old. . .
@@ericemmons3040 would you say that the 4501 one is one of the oldest operating steam locomonaves in the US?
@@rudycarlson8245 It certainly is ONE of the oldest. Southern 630 was built in 1904. Southern 154, which pulls the train known as the Three Rivers Rambler, was built in 1890, if I remember correctly. Disneyland RR #3 was built in 1894; the two engines used by Knott's Berry Farm were built in 1881 or 1882 and saw decades of service in the mountains of Colorado before being used in tourist service. There are a few other engines of that time period still operable.
Is it just me or does 4501's face seem more whiter than usual?
They polished her up for the first run!
Polished up and washed over the winter, possibly with a new coat of graphite. In 2014 it was much darker, but by 2016 she had a bright silver graphite front, more 1970s style. Over time it has darkened down a little bit, but was cleaned and freshened for this trip. The lovely clean rods make a big difference too, something I feel many people don’t notice.
Do you file taxes on your RUclips channel?
I may be wrong and this may be a stupid thing to say but I think an automatic stoker on the 4501 is a stupid idea! I mean she was built as a hand fired engine surely there are people out there they can hand fire it! The 630 is a hand fired and she was built that way! And they continue to hand fire it! I don’t see any problem with hand fiI can see the point of an automatic stoker if she was making trips over 1000 miles but if she’s just at the museum operating surely somebody can hand fire it there!
Just paint it green all ready
FBI anti-piracy warning, really?
Yes, really.
@@DelayInBlockProductions No that's just a joke. I really think you're up yourself.
Pardon me, but there is soemthing wrong here!
Lots of empty seats! Too bad! And, what's with the graffiti at 09:33???
Great video!
