  • Welcome to the Nuss Collection Truck Museum!
Hi, I’m Bob Nuss. Today, I’m excited to showcase a very unique truck: a 1971 Mack DM863SX, equipped with a 335 Cummins engine and a quad box. This truck features a Mack walking beam suspension, rated for 80,000 pounds, compared to 65,000 pounds with a traditional spring suspension.
Originally purchased by the Department of the Navy, this heavy haul truck was designed for moving equipment and has an impressive 35,000 original miles on it. After its Navy service, the Adams Company intended to convert it into a wrecker for use in New York's tunnels. However, due to its width-over 102 inches-it was deemed too wide for tunnel use.
Eventually, Gary Mahan and Ray Bentley discovered this truck, which had sat for a few years before we acquired it. It was fully restored when it came to us, and it stands as a stunning piece of history, formerly owned by the Department of the Navy.
Come and see this incredible truck for yourself!
