How Anxiety Uses Basic Human Nature Against You

  • It makes totally good sense that if you experience a threat, your mind and body will move into a defensive stance, just as it would if you suddenly saw a snake on the path as you are walking. If you have developed an anxiety disorder - whether it’s panic disorder or social anxiety, performance anxiety, health worry, or a phobia - the disorder will take advantage of that traumatic moment. OCD will take advantage of it, too. What will it take for you to get stronger? Eventually, you will need to put your limbic system’s amygdala in a safe, reasonable facsimile of the traumatic event, and let it hang out.

Dr Wilson is the master of anxiety like coach K is the master of basketball. Coming from a UNC fan lol. Two things, courage and trust in what Wilson is teaching. Trust in the process then have the courage to run towards the roar and you will get better!

His book " Don't Panic" freed me of attacks entirely as I practiced it's directions. It's now 35 years later and still holds true. I highly recommend his book. Also the books of Clair Weeks.

The year 2020 made the ocd really worse. Quiet a test of the body and mind this year 2020.

Same but for me it was/is mostly because of school work. I get so much work from my teachers and especially since I am graduating this year. In the beginning it was kind of ok but now the teachers want to do video classes and additionally give us so much to do. I feel like I am drowning in home work and then I also gotta deal with applying for jobs, learn for the application tests, prepare for job interviews etc. 😖

Stopping the noise in your head - is one of his book and there are several chapters about what he is talking in this video :)
