Just got mine too and i’m absolutely loving it.
Awesome, glad you’re enjoying it. And thanks for taking time to watch my review! I hope it helps validate the purchase a bit! 🤘🏻
Excellent job Austin!!! More please
Thanks man, I appreciate it! 🤘🏻
Great video! Keep them coming!
Yes sir! Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
Great Video! You’re a very good reviewer. You have a very soothing voice and delivery. I think you found your niche in reviewing gear. Keep it going!!!
What an awesome comment. I greatly appreciate it! Hopefully more reviews coming very soon - life has been crazy! 🤣
Those split coil tones 😩💙 I really hope Schecter ends up selling that set individually! Also, I had no idea you had such warm and inviting sounding voice. Great video!
Hey man. I have a set of these pickups I’m actually looking to sell!
@@ronnierobertson1412 6-string? 👀
Thank you bro! I never imagined myself having a soothing voice but I’m going to take this comment to heart! 🤣 next up, guitar review ASMR. Thanks for watching and supporting man, means a lot coming from you.
What did you replace them with? Now I’ve got to know! Because these pickups are incredible. And a huge thank you for watching my video too. 🤘🏻
@@GerryTrevino 7 string. It’s actually a weird story. I still have the same set of pickups in it. I thought the pickups that came in it were defective because of a humming noise I was getting, so Schecter sent me a new set of them and I swapped them. That didn’t fix the noise, and they didn’t want the pickups back.
Love your vids man
Thanks for always supporting. I really appreciate it! I want to keep bringing content like this, especially if I can keep growing this channel!
Great video dude!
Thank you for watching! Hopefully going to have my next review wrapped up very soon. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Only 700 subs! We need to change that! Great video 🎉
Thank you! We will hopefully grow in the future! I have faith! 🤣
Thanks for the support, I truly appreciate it.
New sub here...and fellow Kansan. Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough review!👍
Haha, awesome! Small world! Thanks for watching and thank you for subscribing. I will do my best to make it worth your while! 🤘🏻
Was playing one of these today (coincidentally also at Drum City) and man it felt incredible to play and so insanely resonant I was even having fun with it unplugged. As soon as I actually plugged it in my mind was just blown. The pickups sound so god damn organically smooth and clear, while also having plenty of chunk. Genuinely some of my favorite sounds I've heard from a 7 and those split coil tones were also probably some of the best I've heard from any humbucker. Might have to see if I can find the pickups on their own, or see if Bare Knuckle has anything similar
So glad you agree! If you want a good set up Bare Knuckles, I’d recommend the Silos.
But I’d think Schecter will eventually sell these pickups on their own. Next time you’re in DCGL, tell Jason hi for me! He sent this exact video to the Schecter guys. I owe him!
Awesome review man! I got an AM-6 and it has some tuning stability issues, I thought it was because of the tremolo bridge but now I’m 100% sure it’s the nut (which I also suspected in the beginning)
The nut probably just needs to be looked at by a luthier, perhaps? I hope hearing my perspective helped you troubleshoot a bit! And thanks for taking the time to watch! 🤘🏻
I hope you’re otherwise loving the AM-6.
Yeah I’m taking it to my tech tomorrow. Also one of the springs looks like it’s not the original gotoh one since it wiggles a bit on the claw (the others don’t do that). I ordered a set of replacement springs for the Gotoh 510, but yeah I think the biggest issue is the nut.
Please keep me updated on what they say! Hope it all works out.
Well, the nut needed a bit of filling. The tech did that and all's more stable now but there are some issues. We did some testing with the spring tensions and turns out that the non authentic spring is basically applying way less tension than the other two, which causes it to move and consecuentially to de-tune. I already ordered a new set of original Gotoh SPs but they won't arrive until the end of the month.
Thanks for following up. Glad to hear you’re getting it resolved! If it makes you feel better, my $2k Ibanez AZ also has nut issues. I swear, that seems to be common on countless instruments. I’m surprised by the springs though.
Dude you are so good at guitar lol great video!!!
Thank you bro! Just trying to rise to your level! 🤘🏻
Very good video! Almost everything I needed to know! One thing: For position 2, which coils from both pickups are engaged? Outer coils? Inner coils? Both north side, or both south side?
Apologies for the delayed response! Just got a chance to test and get you an answer. For the neck coil tap, the coil toward the neck appears to be providing the most output with the inner coil being active but less so.
For the dual coil split option, both of the inner coils are active.
Thanks for watching! I hope this helps.
@@Austin_Shredder Thanks so much!
No problem at all. Glad I could be of service!
Great review! Do you prefer this Schecter over the other one you have?
So, they do very different things. My Solo II Custom is my favorite guitar for classic rock and blues, while this one is better for metal and 7 string focused material. My C-1+ can basically do anything! They’re all great!
Awesome guitar! Now imagine the new USA custom shop itération that’s coming soon🥹
I would LOVE to play one. Thanks for taking the time to watch my review!
Beautiful guitar!
Thanks man, I agree! 🤘🏻
Bought 3 guitars from Drum City Guitarland so far.. awesome shop 👌🏼
This is my second axe from them. Glad you’ve had a great experience as well! Thanks for watching my video. 🤘🏻
its funny cause I also have the same az in the sunburst, and ended up purchasing this guitar when it was released in august.
My AZ review will be coming before long if you’d like to check it out! You have great taste. Thanks for watching. 🤘🏻
Nice guitar mate 👏👏
Efharisto my friend. Please tell all of the family hello for me! 👏🏻
Drumcity is awesome and they're an awesome ESP dealer as well.
I don’t doubt it! Glad you’ve had a great experience with them too. And thanks for watching my video! 🤘🏻
Hey brother, just wanted to say awesome video. I’m looking at this guitar right now and am thinking of picking one up. Are you still happy with yours and do you still recommend? Thank you!
Absolutely I do. And thank you for watching the review! I know it’s a bit on the geeky side so I appreciate it! 🤣 Mine actually had a pickup issue but Schecter stood behind their product and got me a suitable replacement. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Enjoy!
Thanks for the reply. The geeky stuff is what i'm about lol. By any chance, did the pickup issue you experienced, have to do with a weird clanking overtone? Thanks again!@@Austin_Shredder
The issue I had was that my bridge pickup was slowly dying! It was rather strange. I did have that D string overtone. On my replacement, the overtone is still there but it is much less severe somehow.
@@Austin_Shredder oh wow that’s super strange! Thanks for sharing. Very sick guitar regardless.
I have 4 Schecters with the compensated nut and they are basically unplayable. They will not stay in tune. I’ve replaced the nuts on all of them and recut the slots, with no improvement. The necks are also very unstable. My Ibanez, Jackson and Solars are stable and stay in tune perfectly.
My Ibanez guitars are really solid. My Schecter Solo II Custom and C-1+ both stay in tune perfectly. The Solo II has the compensated nut and I honestly love it!
Sorry to hear you’ve had some troubles though…
And also, thanks for taking the time to watch my review!
Good review video 👌🏻
I don’t know about these tuners, but tuning stability wise Gotoh’s are the ones I had the best experience with so far. Right now I have a Kiesel DC700 with hipshot trem and Kiesel locking tuners. I cannot recommend that hardware. Hipshot fixed bridge might be okay but not the trem and not the Kiesel lockers.
And many times nuts are not cut well. It is very bad because it is super important. Then I tend to go back to locking nut again with a Floyd or Edge bridge. Nut and frets are perhaps the most important Bridge and tuners also makes a difference.
Having had several guitars guitars myself I came to the conclusion that you have to play with it a few months before you can give a proper review of it. Maybe I will make one of my Kiesel one day. It is the last one I will buy. In general Ibanez makes better guitars
Gotoh is fantastic. So is hipshot, and honesty, I have been very happy with the Grover locking tuners I put on my C-1+. I also have zero issues with the Schecter tuners that came on my Solo II Custom!
I’ve always heard Kiesels have good hardware, shocked to hear you feel otherwise!
I agree with many of the points you’ve made here - great perspective. And thank you a ton for watching my review.
@@Austin_Shredder Yes, that is the story that goes round that Kiesel has good hardware . Jeff Kiesel is a good salesman and he knows how to sell a story. As a newby I got all excited about their guitars. But once I had one I slowly started to see flaws that I did not even see on my made in Indonesia Ibanez. If you cut away all the famcy talk that goes around and just have an honest look at the product it doesn’t match the expectations well. That’s what I like about review video’s is when they comment the positive as well as the negatives
Nice Schecter, just wish it had a Floyd or a floating version bridge versus a fixed bridge. The color is awesome
I had a floating 7 and it was great, but I hated being confined to a single tuning at a time. I’m always switching between standard and drop tunings on the 7. If you prefer a single tuning, then you could certainly go floating and not worry about a thing! 🤘🏻
Also, thanks for watching! 🔥
I usually use 6 strings for drop D. I can drop to D on my Musicman JP7 guitars and my other stop tail 7 strings. I don't have trouble switching.
This video gave me GAS
It was an honor, sir. 🫡
Sounds good I have a rob scallon also excellent guitar
I’m very curious about those guitars. Would love to try one some time!
Thanks for watching!
I have a question how do you match tones do you use like pre sets or make your own tones for like enter sandman and stuff
Believe it or not, a lot of it depends on my guitar pickups and my personal playing. For example, my Enemy Inside and Psycho Holiday covers are using the exact same preset. I don’t spend a ton of time on tones. I just prefer playing! But over time you will gain a more focused ear and the ability to shape tones to what you want. I am good at this for distorted tones but weak on it for clean tones.
Thanks
Hey dude! My biggest concern with getting a 7 is I don't want to feel like I'm playing on a huge fretboard. How does it feel?
I won’t lie to you, you will feel like you are playing a huge fretboard. The neck will be noticeably wider and the extended 26.5” scale length will be obvious. If you’re worried, go 25.5”. However, that low string will require a thicker gauge to cover lower tunings.
Trust me though - you will get used to it! I can switch between 6 and 7 easily now but it took some time. Don’t be afraid! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for watching! 🤝🏻
I have 2 7 strings. A cheap ibanez and a schecter diamond. Schecter feels huge but I never touch it due to not liking tremolos. I'm trying to decide between this guitar and a jackson misha mansoor evertune 7
I’d love to review one of Misha’s guitars some day. I’ve never played one! His 7 strings are 26.5” as well though, so it would be similar. Just depends on if you want the evertune, different pickups, styling, etc. I feel like you can’t go wrong either way.
Lovely leads 💪
Thank you! 🤘🏻
It was my dream guitar, but its too expensive in europe. Very VERY sad. As good as that guitar really is, it isn't worth 1900€. But very nice review!
Very sorry to hear this! I was unaware of its price point in Europe. Perhaps you can grab one used at some point in the future? I’d recommend adding it as a search query on Reverb for now. Good luck! 🤘🏻
@@Austin_Shredder i will probably own it in the future, it is just sad that there is such a difference between prices for no reason. But I will own it one day. 😁
@@matejmikulcic9254 have you looked at Thomann? I see them selling it for the equivalent of $1,655 USD. I’m not sure how taxes and duties may affect this though.
@@Austin_Shredder you said it. :) For me to buy it it costs 1900€😂.
😭😭😭
Position 2 is so nice
It truly is magic. Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
Drum city guitarland has the coolest guitars ive ever seen
They really do. Their special relationship with Schecter gives them the opportunities to keep special edition guitars coming! My previous 7 string was one of their special models. If you search through my older videos you’ll see it!
Nice
Why thank you.
Cool
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
nice riffing!!
Thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to check out the review. 🤘🏻
@@Austin_Shredder yessir! I dig your review format - its laid back and just showing a cool piece of gear to the boys in an organized way
Glad you enjoyed that - that was my whole approach. RUclips, IG, Tiktok, etc have no shortage of in-your-face creators. I just want to keep it chill and keep it genuine! No offense to their style though, it’s just not who I am!
With how many of these I'm seeing for resale already, I would hold off, for all the other people. Something is off. My Az also stays in tune very well also, it is almost scary how well it stays in tune, even when bending the strings above the nut and all.
My AZ is great unless I use the trem. The nut needs to be cut by a luthier unfortunately. If I play normally, it’s perfect.
Where are you seeing these for resale? I see some b stocks on Reverb but haven’t seen anything else really!
Also, a huge thank you for watching my video!
🎸🎸🎸🎸
Thanks for supporting! 🙏🏻
Best Schecter's signature is Keith Merrow MK III Artist and TAO John Brownie. Aaron Marshall...
I can agree that the Keith Merrow signatures are amazing! It’s too early for me to tell on the Tao. I would absolutely love to try one! Aaron’s upcoming USA models also seem very promising.
"Pick ups are great for progressive music" I see
Thanks for watching! If you were hoping to see more progressive music in the sound test, I have to be careful with copyrighted so large greedy corporate entities don’t get paid for my hard work. I’m still working on getting better at writing that type of material. That being said, I have some shorts planned that will involve some progressive copyrighted music if you stick around!
@@Austin_Shredder I just pointed it out because I thought it was a peculiar way to describe guitar pick ups.
Ah, I see! I guess I meant progressive metal. I can get Intervals tone, Periphery tone, Dream Theater tones, etc with relative ease.
