A few suggestions: Drink at least 8 cups of water a day, walk for 20 to 30 mins. a day, take 1000mg. Magnesium Citrate and 500mgs Calcium Citrate, take Hyland's Homeopathic Leg Cramps before bedtime, Use Hyland's Homeopathic Leg Cramp Cream. All these have worked for me. Natures Plus makes the Mag/Cal tablets as does Now products. If I do the first and suggestion it works for me.

My right outer ankle woke me at 4 a.m. this morning with a catching sensation. I got out of bed, placed weight on the ankle with no relief, I then walked around in the hopes the ankle would be released from the catch feeling - it didn’t. I next put a small disc shaped ice pack directly on it and got instantaneous relief.

This was very helpful. My gf almost lost her foot in a car accident. It was re-attached using screws, pins, rods, and plates. Needless to say, her foot is constantly sore. The past few nights she has been waking up with severe cramping, like her foot has a mind if it's own and just wants to point upwards. So, we are going to try (I say we cause I'm always helping) some stretching in the morning and try the multivitamins too.

A heating pad takes care of them quickly, within a few minutes I get them most nights and/or upon awakening if I move my foot slightly. I also have Raynaud's so suspect it's something to do with circulation. I wear two pair of heavy socks at night, very loose big ones.
I like your theory about the small blood vessels, this seems to make the most sense. Also I don't move much at night and think the circulation needs more movement to move things along. Interesting video.

The arch of my foot starts to spasm on days whenever I do toe yoga and when I don't it's fine. What is it?

  • @healingfear
    @healingfear Год назад +1

My doctor has only thought to test me for magnesium deficiency (and maybe thyroid issues). She ran a blood panel and then seemed to drop the effort toward a diagnosis. I figured out on my own that if my legs wouldn't stop spasming, that some time on my exercise bike calmed it down. I used to not get full on cramping until recently. Now I occasionally get night time charlie horses. I have also gotten the legs spasms if I stay up late and am tired but haven't laid down to sleep yet. I'm looking for relief. I'll see off more consistent morning stretching will help and I'm already on a multivitamin. This sucks. It's chronic and usually worse when I'm extra tired. However lately it even happens when I go to bed reasonably early. I toss and turn a lot and worry about disturbing my partner's sleep as well as losing hours and hours of sleep many nights. My spasms are mostly in my calves but once in a while it will be in the top of my foot or even my hip.

I am having major issues with this. I’ve tried everything so maybe this video will help me. I have been working out at my warm water therapy pool 4 days a week. I’ve tried runners salt, magnesium, yoga, stretching, amino acids. It’s not. Every night but it’s agony to wake up when I get this. I’m a huge water drinker as well. I broke my toe during covid. Sliced the top open and dislocated my pinkie toe. It was bad. 15 stitches and I’m lucky my tendons were deep. I couldn’t move the toe for a scary long time but I kept with the pt and put in the work and it’s back to almost normal. I’m will to try any other suggestions if you have them.

Great video, but......when i try the exercises my foot and/or calve IMMEDIATELY locks up and it HURTS. Two things u mentioned at the beginning i fit right into. Im 53 and my doc says (due to my blood work) im on the verge of diabetes.
I think another kicker is,,,im a truck driver and sit in one position for 8-10 hrs a day. Then, when in lay down in bed, the feet/toes go to the normal 'pointing away' and this is when the pain starts.
Its getting to the point where im afraid to go to sleep because ive been awakened with cramps that are ridiculously painful.

each week its largely the left big toe a few times weekly when i lie down. Lasting about 10 seconds.
Can simlo medicine and diabetes cause it? Simlo caused pain so i stopped months now - but still happens.
This year also caught plantar fsacitis.
I did exercise a couple years but had to cease due to leg extension machine knee pain. Cramps began say 6 months ago.

I wake up in the morning with leg and foot cramps a lot. It’s painful but not like torn rotator cuff painful that doesn’t allow you to get any sleep at all

    • @JennysAsmrFun

Look up shin splints for the pain in the front. There is am exercise to do for that to warm that area up.
Basically stand up, put one leg forward and put your foot flat, bend slightly so that you are almost 'sitting' in your hips . Then tap your foot up and down keeping your heel on the floor. Do this in a controlled manner so that you can feel the stretch in the muscle at the front .
For your calf start massaging your lower back left side first then left side hip then left side then over your left butt and all down your left hamstring , calf and massage your Achilles gently.
      Good luck!

  • @Niemannsnuthouse

Sadly, I have been getting bilateral cramps in my legs, feet & thighs since 1999. My current GP says their "idiopathic". 😳🙄 I say, "No, you're just an idiot & you can't figure it out. " 😂😂 I am in my upper 50's & I do have nerve impingement in my spine due to a prior injury & 3 previous spinal fusions.
So could it be that or possibly that I'm dehydrated? Sure. My C reactive protein test is usually slightly elevated more often than not. But that's anticipated bc of my persistent state of inflammation. My electrolytes test normal. I take prescription potassium & a magnesium supplement daily. So, ... what gives? Pretty much every night I am plagued with painful lower body cramps.
    My remedies are several:
    1) stretching.
    2) OTC dissolvable leg cramp pills.
    3) Plain old pickle juice. I use it right after the leg cramp pills.
    4) I change my sleeping position. I read up & found out that cramping could be reduced if you just slept in a sitting position with your knees bent. Not the most comfortable for my back all the time, but if it will reduced my nightly leg cramps, I'll do it!! Btw, it has helped. Knees bent no cramps. 🦵🏼👍🏼
    5) I bring 2-3 bottles of water &/or Gatorade/Powerade to bed with me. So if I am awakened by cramps I can replenish some fluids right away in case that's the problem.
That's my leg, foot & thigh cramp experience. 😉 I hope that you all can get a good night's rest. Rest well. 😴💤💤💤💤
