With my current experience with both sights, I would have to disagree with your statement. Just by the fact alone, that the InfiRay can be used as a regular red dot without thermal, it already has more use cases than the SIG.
@@TexasJAGD Interesting. One question, though. What makes the Sig not an actual thermal sight and the InfiRay an actual thermal sight? Is it an overlay setting on the optic vs a computer filtered image?
Per Definition: A reflector sight or reflex sight is an optical sight that allows the user to look through a partially reflecting glass element and see an illuminated projection of an aiming point or some other image superimposed on the field of view. The SIG has a display you're looking at. The InfiRay has a glass element you're looking through.
@@TexasJAGDyeah but he’s not pointing out of it can be used as a regular red dot. His statement was on both colors being the same on the second one. I like the second one but his statement makes sense in the fact that the overlay is the same color as the images giving off heat.

I have a echo three it’s got way more functionality than just the black and gray😅 I do like both thermals, but if I was going to drop a lot of cash, I would buy a Steiner
Yeah, but there is a huge price difference between the tube thermals and the digital thermals. Just like the difference between tube night vision and digital night vision. I wouldn't have access to thermals or to night vision at all if it weren't for the relatively low cost of the digital technology.
This is a digital thermal optic. I'm not aware of any thermals utilizing traditional image intensifier tubes. The official price will be released at SHOT Show as far as I understand.
@@TexasJAGD Ok I got my NV and Thermals mixed up. But my point still stands. The military-style thermals are vastly overpriced compared to the consumer market stuff.
@@TehButterflyEffect I agree with that. There are some companies using BAE sensors which produce a better thermal image (e.g. NVision) and these units are $5k and up. I am a fan of the competition between ATN and Pulsar. Both companies produce good scopes and that competition keeps the price down.
Hot sand thermaloptic works a lot better for hunting in my opinion. Set your reticle to a dark red, and it allows for way less opacity through leaves and at long distances
I don't think the jury is out on that yet. I did like the overall form factor of the holosun better. But haven't had the chance to test it in an actual hunting scenario yet. Waiting for Holosun to have a few units for T&E.
It's just not a real reflex sight. And the thermal image quality of the InfiRay is also better. SIG Echo 3 has a 320x240 sensor and the InfiRay has 384x288 pixels. I say "pretend" becaue per definition, it's not a reflex sight but merely a digital thermal scope with long eye relief.
Both are real thermals, the second one is just an augmented reality HUD overlay inside the sight picture instead of being a thermal imaging tube that has been converted to a scope. Black Hot is real thermal lol.
The image quality is ok. And I've killed hogs with it - on the run, with follow up shots. But I like the InfiRay better because it's actual Thermal Fusion - the overlay of a thermal image over a real sight picture.
What is the practical application for this? I use a single pvs14 for nav, handheld thermal to scan, rattler for hunting. This doesn't seem all that good at any of those things! But can do them all i assume..
Both are thermal. One does thermal fusion like a thermal reflex sight should, the other doesn't and is a regular thermal scope (and not a thermal reflex).
Totally different use case. The InfiRay has the capability of merging daytime image with thermal. That mode is called Fusion. The SIG is just a regular thermal scope utilizing a screen - very similar to other thermal devices with the only difference that it allows for a long eye relief.
Very similar to the InfiRay. I checked it out at Shot Show 2023. But I do like the slightly more compact design of the Holosun and I am a fan of my other Holosun optics.
making the reticle the exact same color as the thermal image is a terrible idea. The sig may not be a true reflex sight but it’s way more useable
