I will be watching this movie, good or bad, because I want to. I will not be watching this review though, simply because of the position the title takes.

A much better executed concept is done and portrayed by Russel Crowe in the, of all things, Apple movie “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”. At least that had the backdrop of the Vietnam War and it starts off as one story and goes into “journalist as heroes” by the end and what they wish they could strive to be.

I'm not a Tim Pool fan but stumbled on his "review" of this and decdided to see what he thought. He did see more politics than you, but he also thought it was a fair representation of the adrenaline junky/moronic nature of some of the journos he has worked around (which is NOT a compliment). And he addressed the movie's "factions" making no sense and noted an earlier promo map had the states aligned more rationally around present political trends. Perhaps that part was rewritten to try to make it look like the director wasn't picking on his political enemies...? 🤔 Anyway, not my cup of hemlock, so not planning to see it anyway.

The reason so many things were left vague is because the writer/director did not want to spoon feed the audience (he mentioned this in an interview). You were supposed to make your own inferences about what started the war. Enough information had been given to tell you the President was a fascist by taking a third term. Enough information was given to tell you Jesse Plemons' character was just a racist, using the cover of war to kill indiscriminately, as he was clearly not a part of any official military on either side. It was heavily implied that some people already walk among us who are just waiting for the chance to do the same (car wash scene, golf course scene, boogaloo boys scene). It did not feel linked because it was supposed to feel like chaos, which is what would happen if a Civil War did break out here. I agree with you about the Jessie scene at the end but I think they were trying to show how horrified and frozen with fear she was at the beginning of the movie but had become hardened and unfazed by the end. I agree it did not play well at all. I was shaken at several scenes but maybe because I live in Florida and we have active Nazis waving swastika flags on our overpasses and daily threats of violence by white supremecists on our local news on a weekly basis.

First off, beard is awesome! Keep your signature style. As for the film, since the Obamas were reported as being involved in producing it, I am giving it a pass. If Trump produced it, I would pass on it too. I don't like political messaging, regardless of how subtle, in my entertainment unless it serves the actual story and doesn't replace the story. If you get conspiratorial on this film, there are those that claim that before a major event like war, pandemic, terror attacks, etc. there are films and TV shows and even editorial articles in the media to sort of "prepare" society for those events. One channel last fall discussed the use of cyber-attacks on infrastructure in this film and we have more than a few of those real or suspected happening. Not sure if the cyber-attacks happened in this film as the channel claimed or not, again, no plans to ever watch it. These days I grade films into three categories, the big screen, TV, and trashcan. Few films like Top Gun Maverick deserve the big screen. The filming, the story, the acting deserves even demands a big screen to take it all in and to really immerse yourself in it. A large portion of films today feel and look like a TV show rather than a film. Stories are shallow and use worn out plots and resolutions. Acting is standard or bland as Kevin Costner when he doesn't have an excellent co-star to play off of. Story twists so standard I can pretty much predict who is what and what will happen before the second act. For instance, the ever-worn-out idea that the true bad guy of a film is almost always one of the first people seen and close to the "hero" of the story. Crime stories are especially bad for this. Unfortunately for today's viewers the bulk of entertainment falls into the last group, the trashcan. No explanation needed if you are remotely not in a cult of whatever issue is the flavor of the day. Enjoy the channel and appearances on other channels CC. Keep up the awesome work.

A civil war without some causes and history behind it would just be a computer game shoot-them-up. The reason I'd go to a civil war movie (either the first 1860s one, or the possible second) is my love of history. Journalists lost their luster back in the 1990s. I lost any faith and trust I had for them, back when the Blue dress was proven to actually exist. At least the ally dividing line could make sense... @@floridafamilyfun1597 I get it, and I liked his film “Men” so I was really looking forward to this one but with today’s games and movies, it’s more of a case of saving my money and time instead of wasting it on something I’ll either hate or that just won’t do anything for me. So I actively seek spoilers and reviews before deciding on whether or not I’ll watch/play/buy it. Passed on a lot of opportunities to buy a PS5 because there’s simply not a single game on this gen that I want to play (that might change with GTA VI but it’s unlikely I’ll buy a console for a single game). My family is pretty well of and I’ve just started my first job so it’s not a matter of necessity, it’s more about voting with my wallet plus avoiding stuff that doesn’t interest me.
