It is Tunisian method. In Tunisian stitch you pick up the stitches in the bars previously made not in between the bars. Either case it is a pretty pattern. You can order Tunisian hooks just like any other crochet hook. Just remember to order the size recommended per yarn you are using.
I have done many Tunisian items. Small sizes squares can be worked on a regular hook. To make it a little longer, I have placed a plastic drinking straw on the end of my hook to make my hook longer. Just make sure the straw is a good, snug fit on the end of your hook. It works great for me.😃
Haven’t been around crochet much if you’ve never encountered Tunisian before. I remember the first time I used it. I made an afghan using it when I was a teenager and that was 50 years ago.
I've used what is called an afghan hook which is simply a longer version of a regular crochet hook. I've made sweaters, hats, mittens and lots of household items with it. It's easy to do and there are lots of different stitches besides the simple afghan stitch. Most fabric stores which sell knitting supplies carry the afghan hooks. ❤
I don't know how I came across this channel but I seen it and it took me back to when I was a child when my mother taught me how to crochet thank you Mommy and thank you for sharing your video with all of us may God continue to bless you on your journey amen🙏
Yes, this is Tunisian crochet. I Love this type of crocheting. It makes super warm scarves and slippers!!! I made a Baby blanket with it also, it turned out great! Also you can mix regular crochet stitchea with Tunisian crochet! There's so much you can do!!!!
Tricot or Tunisian crochet. There are many different patterns. You can buy special long hooks (just like a knitting needle with a hook on the end) for making bigger items. Very pretty yarn.
Tunisian Crochet. There are hooks with stoppers on the end, and some with a line and a stopper for bigger projects. I bought a set with interchangeable hook ends and various length of cord about 2 years ago. I made a scarf, and did a whole afghan using Tunisian Simple stitch this year, It's one of my favorite stitches as it resembles waffle weave and I love the texture.
Very pretty effect! Starts out similar to an Afghan stitch, then the chain3 sort of stitches, with the way the stitches cluster together, and I love the way the yarn stretches and looks on the back - makes a lovely reversible fabric! Very creative, thanks for inventing and showing us all how to as well~~~ ; ]
Very nice, while watching I am crocheting a scarf from my first "cake" of Caron Latte cakes into a design and it's mesmerizing! Oh the choice of music is also mesmerizing. It reminds me of the music used in the movie: Pride and prejudice staring Keira Knightly and Matthew MacFadyen.
I love how this stitch looks a lot like a knit stitch on the one side but is so unique on the other!! Very beautiful! Thank you for another great stitch!
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you creating this beautiful stitch. It’s a Tunisian stitch and it’s really really awesome too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
This is an interesting pattern. I rarely crochet, so I don’t know the name of this technique. I did notice, however, that there wasn’t any turning at the end of each row. I love it!
Tunisian crochet is not new. But lots of new stitches have happened - Kim Guzman is a great designer and has lots of books and online site. I have even made up a stitch or two - and don't know what to do with them!
Yes it is Tunisian. There is a special hook for this stitch that does not have the flat spot that crochet hooks have. This allows you to make wide pieces. Sometimes, after it is finished it is then decorated with a cross stitch designs. It makes a beautiful warm and sturdy fabric. Typically it is done in a light color so it can be decorated. Don't know what that is at the end.
Tunisian is a pretty fun style of crochet. I bought an entire set of T hooks because I got hooked, no pun intended... I like the longer hooks because it makes adult beanies a bit easier without having to scrunch up so much on the 14" hooks.

Yes tunisian method, thank you
In many cases, you really need to go up a size (or two) because Tunisian generally makes a very dense fabric. But it’s beautiful!
You can do the stitch either way. Been using Tusnisian stitches for many years so much versatility with the Tusnisian stich.
Tunisian not unusual
The Tunisian hook is longer so it can accommodate more stitches.

You can buy Tunisian crochet hooks with long cables with a stopper on the end to make blankets and such.
The drinking straw is a great idea. You're so clever! Thanks for sharing.💕
I love the straw idea!
you do know that you can get crochet hooks as long as knitting needles!
That is very clever with the straw!
I've watched many of this tutorial crochet type videos and yours has been so easy to follow. I could see every stitch. Thank you, great video.👍😀💖
You are so welcome!
What color is the yarn...
Haven’t been around crochet much if you’ve never encountered Tunisian before. I remember the first time I used it. I made an afghan using it when I was a teenager and that was 50 years ago.

I was already thinking that you can only make very small items with this stitch. Didn't know there are long crochet hooks. Thanks for this info!
@@anita64 many as long as knitting needles, up to 10/12"
@@anita64 and hooks with changeable cables like the long circular knitting needles but with a button on one end to stop stitches escaping.

True to say, I haven't seen this version of Tunisian work.
I'd seen this stitch done with double crochet instead of the chains. This is a nice alternative.
That would be beautiful for making small squares and doing a blanket.
