@@aarongrabham4412 i don’t think you actually can? As when I turn down the vocals to -2db it’ll do the same with the bass and the drums. Not sure what I’m doing wrong lol
i find the most challenging thing about mastering a full project is making sure the volume levels are consistent throughout, the option to upload a reference track template when mastering is so amazing
I recently checked out your video with mastering with logic stock plugins and it was fantastic. I checked out this video today and took the plunge on getting 9 Advanced, threw a rough track (that I still need to do a lot more tracking and mixing on) just to play around with Ozone. Holy crap. First time after years of trying that I've been able to get a big sound with competitive loudness that I've been looking for! I just plugged in a reference track of a similar genre and I'm finding that in a totally backwards way, reverse engineering this is allowing me to think about my mix a bit more before it's actually ready for this plugin. I can't thank you enough for these videos. I'm a musician that's usually on the road and thanks to the pandemic, I've been missing the stage a lot and stuck at home, using the time to learn how to make my own songs sound the way I hear them in my head. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making the last year a little less shitty!
Killer, man. Great walk-through as always. And glad Ozone was smart enough to have you on the Beta team. Looking forward to adding Ozone 9 to my set-up. Cheers brother.
Great video Sean. Beautifully explained. Also, thank you for clarifying the stereorize option; I have seen a few videos where people insist this option must be turned on in order for imager to work.
I'm just discovering this video and let me just thank you for this, I can tell how much you know by just checking out how you work, I appreciate the content bro, really helpful to grasp the basics of this software! Cheers!
I had Ozone 9 Standard and earlier this wk, upgraded to Advanced. Just paid the difference in the price, $200. ONE thing I think Sean failed to mention on the Rebalance module. I believe that you can only do ONE of the three options. And I HOPE that at a later date, Izotope figures out a way to do all three. I watched another YT video on this product the other day, and that presenter said only ONE can be used. Can't add a 2nd Advanced plugin either, so hopefully when I use it for the first time, this afternoon!!!!, I will just have to select the one of the three that needs adjusting the most! It is however, a super duper mastering device, all in all. OH...a thought.....maybe if you need to increase the vocal and decrease the bass or drums, you can do it with the Low End Focus section. I will try that out today.
Thank You! I got a lot out of this session. Self taught on recording analog, now using Logic ProX. I used Ozone 7 a few years back but for dynamic tweaking down a hot mix..
This is awesome!! Im great at mixing but mastering isnt too good so now that im aware of this, it really helps! Especially if im going for mastering an album to have the same eq curve for each song!
the EQ match is a very useful starting point! Quick note: every song is (and should be) fundamentally different in terms of frequency, so just be careful not to stay too strict to always matching curves :)
It looks on the sound waves like its only a beat without vocals, thats how controlled the mix is.. wow. You should make a tutorial and using this song as example.
Thanks for the video my dude! Good stuff. Just bought myself a copy of the music production suite 3 and everything is so clean and helpful. Ozone 9 is legit, although it takes a TON of cpu and I have a Ryzen 7 1800x too.. lol. You have to be careful not to add too many izotope products on your tracks.
Hey Sean, I am clipping on my peak levels beside the Maximizer. What should I go back and check to fix this? I played with the maximizer I can't fix this from there.
@@SeanDivine Ok also I noticed the left faders are peak input and right are peak output. So if the peak input is in the red is that okay because my peak output never goes above zero? Nor do I have any channels that clip.
The Rebalance feature is very cool, and I can see if you were a mastering engineer... this would be extrememly helpful, due to the fact that you don't have the tracks. However... if you're a home studio person, and you're running Presonus Studio One Advanced... you have a "Project" page which is your built-in mastering plugin. It's a separate module that feeds off of the mixing section. You simply select the wrench icon on the track that you want to adjust, and it loads the individual tracks for you. You can then adjust the problematic track and it auto updates the master within the Project/mastering module. Studio One is an amazing DAW.
Bro, thanks for the video... have a question. During widening your correlation meter peak was going below zero. Doesn't it bother you? Isn't it an indication of BN phase issue?
phase correlation metering is not going to be above 0 throughout most mixes unless you have no stereo information - not necessarily an issue, as long as you're listening for actual phase issues.
@@SeanDivine Thanks for reply and Happy New Year 😊 I'm not too sure but ihv heard if a track has phase issue and played on speakers then bass frequencies will suffer. Also I'm wondering what is the significance of correlation meter if it's phase indications doesn't bother much. If possible please make a video on this topic with live example. It will be very helpful for people like me 🙏😊
Great Video. I hear conflicting reports about the stereoize button, I find that when I press it then only will it work, am I doing something wrong? why have a button there if its doing nothing? Showing a visual on the imager does not mean that it is active. Thanks for this tutorial.
Thanks Sean. Great Video. I'm particularly happy that they've incorporated the Rebalance into Ozone. It used to be restricted to the iZotope post production software, RX 7; so I'd often have to use RX to balance a stereo mix before pulling it into Ozone.
thanks so much dude I've been learning sooo much! really appreciate you taking the time to teach mixing. anyway i can send you the track i mix and mastered for some feedback ?
One of the greatest engineers. Helped me get my game up. But that song is dope. Sound a little like Miguel
🙏 always enjoy working with Reggie. Extremely talented.
Very nice sounding track/mix!

Yo that master re-balance is crazy
Mzwakhe Mnguni super crazy! 😮
I'm really surprised by the low end focus and the mastering rebalance! Very revolutionary and easy to use
Master balance and low end focus is crazy!
WAIIIIT HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE MASTER REBALANCE IS CRAZY!
The fact that the 'Reference' in mastering assistant includes the option for Streaming or CD is more flexible and cool.
Really nice demo. Rebalancing the vocals, bass or drum is clearly outstanding
This technology is pretty amazing. You can even automate the music rebalance !!
yes! 🙌

That master rebalance feature might be worth the price alone!

Cool thanks! Just upgraded to 9.
I might use this to bring out the bass on ...And Justice for All, by Metallica.
lol
It's non-existent so I don't think even Ozone can do that
Perhaps use a full screen in the future for those on smaller devices so that they can see better. Thanks.
thanks for the feedback

Hey Sean, I am clipping on my peak levels beside the Maximizer. What should I go back and check to fix this? I played with the maximizer I can't fix this from there.
hey Kay, check the mixer for other channels that are clipping - use a brickwall limiter or bring back the faders appropriately
@@SeanDivine Ok also I noticed the left faders are peak input and right are peak output. So if the peak input is in the red is that okay because my peak output never goes above zero? Nor do I have any channels that clip.
