- BMW E81 E82 E87 or E88 hidden menu (1 series) gives access to service tests useful when diagnosing issues with your car. Check all indicators and displays, perform needle sweep, read raw data from various sensors and adjust trip computer options.

what are the benefits of getting into the secret menu?? what daily purpose does this serve?? I dont understand
For example checking the engine oil temperature, battery voltage or just to test the dashboard icons
But what do they mean, do you have like a code book for understanding the shortcuts?
check here: mr-fix.info/bmw-1-series-hidden-menu-e81-e82-e87-e88/
Its basically a load of shit you don't need or want to see lol
Can this be coded in to show volts or water temp when first start op?
+iconone5
I believe not. Sorry.
This is a great video! 👍🏻 Very helpful for someone who just bought a 2012 E88.
Check all of my bmw videos. Currently I’m driving E87 and some tutorials should be interesting to you.
@@mrfixpl Definitely will! :)

do you know how to reset or change the sound the cluster makes when an alert appears I.E low fuel, no seatbelt or fault tones. after putting an aftermarket cd player in my car the nice bong/ping noise has changed to a really annoying high pitched beep many thanks
Don't quote me on that, but I believe that your factory stereo was making those nice sounds before. When it's gone these functions are not covered by the instrument cluster with it's default ugly sounds.
All fine but which code do I need to use to access and change the temperature for the inside of the car?
hey in my x1 2011 model front brake light is not going. as i press n hold d trip button it goes in some other menu.pls help me out to take off d front brake light.
But what is this menu used for? i didnt understand.
+Ian Mamo Please visit this website for more information about that menu: mr-fix.info/bmw-1-series-hidden-menu-e81-e82-e87-e88/
mr-fix yeah, but that doesn’t answer the question
If you wanna see the coolant temp, for example and other things
e82 n52 thanks you
The "scroll" function is done by trip button. How do you "click"? High-low beams? Indicator?
Everything is done with the trip reset button. Press and hold to exit, press to browse, stop pressing to confirm channel choice.
Thanks sir :)
Can you help me with welcome lights?
They dont work every time when I unlock the car? Its e81 2009.
Light switch in AUTO position and make sure that you cars battery is not going bad.
I need to read an FRM fault code - I've got a bulb warning light coming on and can't see a bulb that has a problem. So I need to access 03 I think. I managed to unlock it but then couldn't get any further. Not sure what to press once I've entered my VIN number to unlock the menu. I got to 03 and all it showed was "CODE DIA 0008h 08d0H". Any ideas? Thanks
Check my video tutorial about reading CC-ID codes in BMW and compare your code number with the list at mr-fix.info/
Thanks!! Showed BMW CC-ID 381! Now I need to work out how to change my indicator bulb haha. If the error codes are shown in that menu, then what does 01.03 in the "hidden menu" show?
Press for how long? I have for more than a minute still nothing
5-10 seconds
Hi. I am in Botswana and I bought my BMW 120I from Japan. The radio FM band only goes up to 89.9 how can i change it to go further than that? maybe say 103.00 max?
Ignition OFF
press and hold [M] button on the radio
ignition ON
release [M]
use [+] to find region settings (Europe, Japan, USA, OCE, Canada)
use [>] to select desired region.
ignition OFF and ON (or radio OFF and ON)
check if it worked
Hope that this will help: ruclips.net/video/CocipHMCm-I/видео.html
Why engine temperature not on dashboard? That would make it easier
I think that producers know better what you need and apparently you don't need to know engine temperature. If it's cold then ECU will not let you rev it high or put much load on it. If it's too hot, you'll see a warning...
i could anser that question but idk if u r still intressed in it^^

Will doing the reset be enough when replacing with a new battery?
No.new battery needs to be coded with its parameters passed to the control unit.
mr-fix battery has the same parameters though? Both 80ah and 800
Still, you need to tell the system that new battery is installed.
I have a problem with my 120d e81, it was all working fine, then when it got delivered to me I sat in it and tried to familiarize with the buttons etc, but somehow now whenever I turn the ignition off, remove the key and even lock the car, some lights are still on (temperature and time, radio, start button light is on, hazard light button light is on). I had to disconnect the battery. On top of that now the speedometer doesn't work, but RPM does, and the ABS light comes on. What can I do?
It's hard to diagnose it remotely but I would start with:
1. confirm that the "some light are still on" is not a part of the "coming/leaving home" feature which turns on some lights (mostly exterior) for max 90 seconds.
2. if you have a warning message on the instrument cluster LCD display, check the CC-ID code of that message. you'll find my video about that
3. connect with diagnostic interface and check for fault codes.
Anyone change the oil service interval mine says 35000km, who waits that long ?
Answer Thank you very much. I will ask you one more thing.
Is there any way to export the oil level information from the information that is exported to OBD?
My car is an e82 120d. The sensor that measures the oil level seems to be built in. Is there no way?
There's a dipstick near the oil filter housing
@@rossBJ69 it should have a sensor right? I thought all bmws have sensors
So you can't see the engine temperature on the dashboard like other cars?
That's the new trend in cars. Not only in BMW.
mr-fix i've only see bmw do it on their lower end cars though
the e90 for sure has engine Temp on dashboard hidden menu... e82 does too??
I have a diag code in section 1.03 I want to clear. I see the code but I can't figure out how to clear it. Can you help?
first fix the fault that the code is referring to. Then clear the code with diagnostic interface (if the code persist after fixing the fault).
+mr-fix thanks for the quick reply. What are the steps for removing the code through the diagnostic interface?
it all depends on the software that the interface came with. Usually it's as simple as pressing "clear all DTCs" button.
Difference between DSC and DTC
I believe it's like that:DTC - dynamic traction control.
DSC - dynamic stability control which includes systems: DTC and DBC (dynamic braking control).
Fgnstr menu won’t pop up.
Make sure you have your doors closed, no warning on the dashboard (low washer fluid, low fuel, etc...) and try again.
hello my e87 didn't start anymore after entering the secret menu can you help pls?!?!
Maybe you drained the battery while browsing the menu? There's nothing there that could make the car not start other than use some of the electrical power.
@@mrfixpl it started after leaving it for half an hour, when i tried to start it suddenly worked. Thanks
Who knows how to enable the horn to work with the car off?
jupabeco you can’t unless you put the key in and press the button twice and all electronics will come on allowing you to use the horn
Damn that james!
i noticed your motor icon was burning yellow before you start the test. since today mine started burning too. the manual says i should perform a check on the motor asap. do you know what the problem is? did u get it fixed ?..
also, once you have entered the menu, and then turn of the car again, is everyhting back to normal again?
. A lot of thx in advance
After switching the ignition off everything is back to normal.
Engine icon supposed to burn when ignition is on but the engine is off. That's normal. If engine icon is on while engine is on - then you need to check fault codes in your car.
BMW !
I don't understand a thing ! This is ridiculous , a temperature gauge should be read on the move not with engine OFF ! It's crazy ! Are we going to do all those tweaks while driving to check engine's not overheating ????!!!!
According to BMW you shouldn't be able to check the coolant at all. This is hidden menu and it's not described in user manual.
If the engine is overheating you will see warning message but still you don't have access to the readout which makes hard to diagnose issues with thermostat stuck open.
I could not reset shit with this! I wanted to reset the brake fluid change and Oil change and NOTHING!
This is diagnostic menu. There's a separate menu for what you need - service menu.
Here BMW have really let ITSELF and us down with this crazy check which is inaccurate anyway instead of adding it on the instruments cluster like all other makes ! I'd NEVER buy a BMW ! I'd rather stick with good old RELIABLE FORD !!!
reliable ford lmfao
Bmw is very reliable.. she just needs a little more attention than others thats all
My car is e82. Do you unlock the information you do not see in the OBD information when you show it with the video you showed? For example, now my car can not read fuel gauge information as OBD information, can you see fuel gauge information like the video you showed?
AFAIK hidden menu does not affect in any way on the OBD2 PIDs visibility.
thanks!
