Alto Choir Part Practice (Key of C ): "Hodie Christus natus est" by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621), is from his collection of motets entitled "Cantiones sacrae". Hodie Christus Natus Est comes from the liturgy of the vesper service for Christmas day. This popular version is a five-voice work of contrapuntal interplay. Each section is lead by the tenors singing Hodie, and culminates in a skillful overlapping of Noe (Noel) and Alleluia.
