You are right, the combination sounds amazing, but the blond guy is definitely not a deep bass. He has an amazing tone but at least in this piece he is singing in a nice baritone range. And the ease of the high notes indicates that he indeed is a baritone instead of bass. Not meaning to lessen the performance here! It is really nice to listen to! Just not deep bass ;-)

@@rtrich.93 Baritones can hit bass notes down to a certain level, to be sure. The difference is that a baritone can't produce those notes as loudly as a bass can nor can they always produce those bass notes. Once a baritone's vocal chords are warmed up, it is more difficult to hit those notes. Other things like having not talked much in the day, having a commond cold or singing in the morning can help a baritone hit those notes. Training can also help.

@@wolfgangk1 It is a Pushkin poem set to music. There is a second soprano boy at the other side whom we hear only at the end. Same type of voice. And singing alone and far from the choir. Not easy. Bravo to all
Well, in 18th and 19th century Russia, The Church was an organic part of the state, not an aggravating violent institution. Our Emperor was head of The Church. So our educated people respects religion while perceiving its necessity a little bit skeptical, so to say. And I don't think exactly this composition is Holy. It's just a great concert in a church.
This is about how a person read Dante until dawn, and the bells of a rural Church rang out. The boy at the door is a bell in the distance. When a piece is performed on stage, this part is sung from behind the scenes. But there is a Church here, there are noscenes.
@Amida Butsu In the Church, according to the Testament of the Apostle Paul, married women usually cover their heads with a scarf, hood, or cap, while men, on the contrary, remove their hats from their heads. This tradition is still observed, but it is not rigid. In churches, there is usually a stack of clean headscarfs at the entrance, which can be used to cover the shoulders and head or tie them around the waist if the skirt is short.

[Source: Yury Lotman - Analysis of the poetic text, 1976, p. 161] This is a poem by Alexander Sergejewitsch Puschkin. The piece is called "Reveille" and it's composed by Georgy Sviridov. It is the 7th number of a choral concerto named "Pushkin's Garland" which he composed in 1979. The blonde soloist's name is Alexey Mikhailov (Алексей Михайлов) and the choir is called Glinka Boys Choir.
They sound like angels. The contrast between the young soloist’s pure, echoing, high notes, and the older soloist’s rich baritone is ethereal. Truly otherworldly. I got goosebumps multiple times. I can’t even imagine what a privilege it must have been to hear it live. I probably would have cried. And I love that you can see the appreciation and the care this director feels for these wonderful, talented, young men. It makes a serious difference in fostering and nurturing talent.

I could never understand why the Russians were so good in these classical arts, literature, music, voice, dance. Reading 19th century novels, plus reading background of ballet, dance here and there, it seems even the peasants were interested, were good at obtaining a high level of craft. Not all countries respond with such outpouring.

You can make your voice deeper and higher in singing, who knows it's probably just his deepest note in his range. Or maybe it's his voice,I guess it's a mystery.
I was wondering too, but I guess it does make sense, just not to us. I play in an orchestra and sometimes the conducter doesn't even conduct anymore, he just kind of waves his hands somewhat fitting and we all know what to play.
He's conducting the choir. Even if you can't see them singing, some are humming. You can tell it by the way they are moving their mouth. I was in a choir before for 3 years, it helps to look at the conductor to guide in modulating your voice and tempo.
okay but imagine this plays at the end of the movie when the main character either takes their last breath or runs in super slow mo from something awful??

This is the text of Pushkin's poems. here the thin voice is the horn (trumpet) of the commandant, who wakes up the military after sleep in the morning 5 hours later. the hero, perhaps an officer, awakens to the sound of a trumpet, with a volume of Dante in his hands, which, having fallen asleep, did not finish reading. in the veil of awakening, he is overtaken by languid thoughts about life, about the past and the future. Perhaps there will be a battle and this day may be the last.

I'm not an expert though.
