Great video Heather, i've been using AM Glaze and Seal for years on several cars, if full polishing/prep is not an option, but now using AM Hybrid Sealant for a year now on my own car which is outside 24x7, and just top up with Hybrid Detailer and Shampoo every monthly maintenance wash. BH is a good glaze too. Better the prep, better the results, learned that from some very experienced people on YT.
Brilliant test Heather. Great idea, well executed, and finished with clear video and editing. Top job. As good if not better than any test I've watched, which is a lot....
Interesting test. I enjoyed the video and results. I haven't used to many glazes in the past, however with clear coats becoming so thin these days I will definitely be using them more in the upcoming future. I think Glazes are a great option for many people. Not all people are car "fanatics" like most of us here. Glazes are perfect for them. They get acceptable (stellar to them) results) and they can easily do it themselves. Even for enthusiasts like us, Glazes are a great option now. Less polishing time, great looks (sometimes even better than polishing!) it provides a stop gap of sorts. An enthusiast finds a few wash induced swirl marks. Instead of polishing, use a glaze to get great results and reduce the look of the mark to the eyes of most. Get additional time between polishing sessions by masking the love marks with a glaze with it's temporary filling abilities.
Another amazing video heather Just detailed my Kia Sportage on Saturday washed it with citrus pre wash then ABDL alkaline snow foam iABDL vampire iron fallout and ABDL tar remover then I use AM Details all in one paint glaze and topped it off with AM detail synthetic paint sealant have to wait to see durability
I was shocked it lasted that long with a glaze but it's good to know for the future that I can stick it on my family's cars who don't have great paint without ruining the durability
You’re full of good ideas these days! I’m surprised at how well 3CS did over the AIO and that wasn’t the best AIO out there either. When you’re as old as I am😆, you can remember in the 2000’s just before coatings and ceramic sprays took over the world. It was all about waxes and polymer sealants and all the UK companies like Bouncers, Wax Planet, Infinity Wax weren’t around. Do-Do were though. Companies such as Zymol and Swissol (now Swissvax) always recommended their pre wax cleanser prior to the wax application and panel wipe or IPA belonged only in body shops. Glazes were quite commonly used for the extra depth and shine. It’s a fairly recent thing applying to bare paint and I suppose has been lead by coatings. Bare paint under a wax or regular sealant didn’t used to be needed so I have wondered why now it is in many cases. I suppose the old school waxes gave 3 months longevity at best and so a glaze wasn’t going to make that much difference. With 6 months plus common now, a more thorough prep is required to get anywhere near the claims. Any enthusiast never leaves their paint 6 weeks never mind 6 months without topping with something so is mega longevity of value anyway? It will be to pro detailers as they sell the results of a product to their customers. Anyway, another great video Heather, keep it up👍
Thanks very much Chris :) That's really interesting! You're exactly right, I always like applying different things to my car which is making the current BH wax durability test quite difficult for me haha. The only time I'm looking for a few months of durability is on my family's cars really as I know I won't get to clean them as much. Having said that I think I'm always a lot more bothered about how long the protection lasts on their cars than they are!
Good points Chris. Is longevity of protection products that important if you like the whole process of caring for your car? Can't remember where I read this but some expert said that a car that was washed carefully every 2 weeks and finished with a drying aid would be better cared for than 95% of cars on the road even if no long term protection was ever applied. Besides who doesn't like trying out new stuff!
Great video Heather 👍 I was always thinking am I missing out on durability coz I always whizz around the car with BH cleanser polish then slap on a good wax or sealant. I like the results this way tho. Used Tac System Quartz Max today and very impressed. Cold panel and give 10sec and it just melts into the paint with a little to buff off. Glossy finish 👍
Thanks Kevin! The Tac Systems Quartz Max looks like a good one. I've always been a bit tempted by Moonlight but I probably need something less durable because I'm always messing about trying new products haha
Another cracking video. Autoglym, of course, have a recommended system of their AIO - Super Resin Polish - followed by their UHD Wax or Extra Gloss Protection. A lot of people see SRP as a glaze in that it contains fillers so it begs the question - would their LSPs last longer on a machine polished surface? Just a suggestion for a future test and that's how the protection offered by various QDs and/or spray sealants is affected by applying them after drying or using them as a drying aid.
Wow Heather! You just covered the topic I was thinking since months. I had the same conclusion as yours in regards the durability and or performance of sealants until tonight. In my mind, I also would have bet on that a wax kind of LSP will do better on top of a glaze or AIO type of product. In fact, I recently choose to use a carnauba based wax over an SiO2 based sealant on top of a glaze, because I believed sealants sort of "need" a clean bare paint to bond while a wax could be more "flexible". Well, your test showed that my thinking could have been clearly wrong. I would be very interested how a test called "layering different kinds of LSP's on top of each other" would end up after all this. :) Brilliant video Heather, thank you!
Thanks very much Viktor! I thought the results were quite interesting as well, I'd have put money on the glazed side doing better comparatively with the wax rather than the sealant so I was quite shocked when the ceramic sealant did so well on top of the glaze. That's a great idea, I'd like to do a test like that at some point using different combinations!
Great video. 👍 I bought a bottle of HD Valeting's Glaze around a year ago but have only used it once or twice as I thought the lsp wouldn't last long on top of it. You've convinced me to do a thorough decon soon then apply the glaze and wax. 😀
I have a big bottle of carpro essence, which is something I don't know if I should call it a glaze, I hope it lasts even longer with the sio2 it's supposed to have. I want to polish first to remove light swirls, but minimize cutting. Should I just polish with essence? It has very minor cutting ability
Great test Heather & it's a question that actually gets asked a lot. Usually glazes make an appearance around show season & depending on the strength of the lsp will usually last around that same time. Because of the slickness left from Aio's & glazes I think sealants & wax's struggle to adhere. That said its a good excuse to wax more often 🤣 Take care
Thanks Heather I have been looking forwards to this video, could you confirm how long any imperfections had been masked with the glaze / sealant combo. My dilemma is that i don't really want to get into machine polishing due to the environment were I live. My efforts to hide paint defects never last anywhere near as long as say the water beading from a LSP (tried many combos but not Poorboy's yet). So for me i am really interested in maintaining the initial impact of a glaze / filler product. Best wishes.
Thanks for watching Tim! The sealant seemed to lock it in the improvement the glaze made so it didn't seem to change over time. Black hole is really good stuff, one of the nicest products to use that I've tried. The filling capabilities are good for very fine swirls but on this car the finish was definitely not the best so there were still a lot of visible scratches. If you're looking for another glaze to try though I'd say give it a go!
Interesting video! I would have thought the sealant would have struggled more than the wax to adhere to the panel but it was very surprising. I must admit I normally glaze then wax and have found sio2 hybrid type waxes to give at least 4 months on top of it which as you said is sufficient, as it gives chance to reapply a different LSP product. I have found detailedonline all in one polish to be perfect for the job 👍
Thanks for watching :) I really thought that would happen as well, it was quite an interesting result! That sounds like a great system, those types of waxes are brill
Hi Heather , great test , I'm planning on using black hole with a wax on top of it , do you wax right after putting on the glaze or you should let the glaze cure for a day then put on the wax?
Thanks for watching 😊 I’d get it straight on there, I don’t think it really cures to be honest so best to get put the wax on straight away so you don’t have to worry about any dust forming

Thanks for watching Joe :) Definitely, I've used glazes on my car quite often to try and preserve the clear coat without sacrificing the finish
Great informative content as always. Learned few valuable information. Thank you.

Over 4 months for one layer of 3CS over a glaze is very impressive. Might have a go at that combo myself.
I was shocked it lasted that long with a glaze but it's good to know for the future that I can stick it on my family's cars who don't have great paint without ruining the durability
