I think you can! I dunno if ur irig is stereo or mono, but you can totally plug the output of the looper right into the interface and I know the irig connects to phone. Lemme know how it goes!
I got mine this Christmas! I love watching you test out the FX. I already did an initial FX test, and I found some I really love, some that are solid for what they are, and some that seem they need time to really work with to get an effect. I can already see that the vocoder effect needs an external carrier, so I'm going to use my Korg Electribe as a carrier in my next experiment. I dunno, might film it. Hi Emily... One question ... Is the harmonizer smart? in the sense, does it automatically follow the chord that the guitar or the piano makes? Like TC helicon VoiceLive for example... Thanks
Thanks darling! I'm thinking about to buy this pedal and your videos are helping me. Can you say if there is a reverb between the effects? I stream on Twitch too! I'll try to watch you soon! Just followed!
Nice! Yes! Reverb on each effect. The compression is only available on the XLR inputs. Or you can add compression and reverb to the whole mix in the last effects 👍
Do you have to switch the harmony on and off as you go or can you set it to one loop track? I cant imagine it being viable to have to switch it on or off during a live performance.
I just got the RC-600 and its been sitting for a week, got overwhelmed with where to start. but this video has me pulling it out of the box ( im a vocalist ) so its nice to see what you do with it.
@@EmilyMcVicker You might have already done one, but maybe a first steps set up . My Guitar Teacher is also going to help me get started because I want to use it along with that at times LOL
can i split inputs and outputs to loop guitar and bass into their own amps and have the rythm section or drum sounds go to pa? so i can bypass mixer all together? just trying to have guitar and bass to sync to one looper but play them through their own amps i have and would like to have drums and vocals go to PA
I think you can do all that with the routing options. The way it works is you can chose which inputs go through which outputs, and then the recorded loops have their own level as well
The RC 600 looks like it’s just a very fun tool to work with all the different FX. Makes me want to get one but I can’t sing worth a darn, maybe it’ll make me sound good. Lol I would definitely like to see more demo stuff to see what the RC 600 can do.
Thanks GRock! Ya still figuring out how to practically work the effects in. They are so fun, but sometimes they can distract from a performance if you don’t do them well. So I’ll keep playing dont u worry!
Hi Emily! Thanks for answering my question about reverb. One last doubt: Do you know if the RC 600 works as USB interface? On the descriptions I found they explains the USB is destined to other functions but doesn't say if works as interface.
I wondered the same thing. I prefer to use my own interface, but I think it could. The USB is how you upgrade the firmware. But I haven’t tried to use it straight into the computer as a stand alone yet
@@EmilyMcVicker Yup, it does work as a standalone interface. I previously used an interface Box (hint, hint, without saying the brand). But it is disconnected and everything is done by way of my RC-600. I am loving the RC-600 looping station. Though it is still a pretty new experience for me. The only problem I have encountered with my RC-600, and I'm still trying to figure it out, is that I can't get the Boss Tone Studio for RC software to work. It always gives me a little pop up box that says, "Download Failed."
@@Aaron-gy9oj Yes, you said it: "stand alone interface". Meaning you can bounce a track or more into one empty track, without a computer or DAW. After that you need to access via USB and copy the bouced file, right?
Not sure if this answers your question, but there are options for some of the effects to sync to the tempo. I haven't played with them enough to know if that helps you or not, but I have noticed that some effects allow you to sync to the measure, multiple measures, or to any note length within a measure
Emily… great videos! You’re so talented. Love your fun style too. I just got the RC 600 and have two questions I was wondering if you could help with: 1. When I first turned on my unit, the fourth knob below the screen was master effects reverb, But when I turn it, it just changes from modes one, two, and three. I tried customizing all four knobs by moving the master reverb to the third knob and putting master compression to the fourth knob. When I did, I could control master compression from 0 to 100, but my master reverb on the third knob still just changed the modes. Ie…I can’t apply reverb to everything such as the rhythm sounds, like I used to on my boss RC 505. 2. Do you know if it’s possible for me to queue up the next track instead of it being instant? Ie, I know I can build a three-part song, for example, on tracks one, two, and three (where one is the verse, two is the chorus, and three is the Outro). But I want to queue up those tracks rather than hit them right on time (when the chorus should start). In other words, I put my verse on track one and set it to single mode instead of multi, and then I made my chorus on track two and also set it to single mode instead of multi. But while track one’s loop is playing, if I hit track two’s play button, I was hoping that it wouldn’t instantly switch from track one to track to right then but rather start playing track two after track one’s loop is done. But every time I click track two, it instantly switches in the middle of track one’s loop. Does that make sense? Thanks so much!
Hi! I just purchased this pedal and I haven't even powered it up yet because 1. I'm trying to finish some new songs for an album before I go down what appears to be 2. a huge confusing rabbit-hole. Thank you for sharing because as a solo shoegaze/dreampop musician, I'm very interested in the onboard effects capabilities of this thing.
Nice! I have found the best ways to use them in a performance is add some extra switches with maybe an FS-6 or some suplemental pedal. It helps with less clicking around 😜👍 keep in touch lemme know how it goes!
I just got my RC 600 and your videos have helped me a lot. Do you know how to separate the guitar from the mic, if I only want to have harmonies on my mic. Thanks for your content!
You’re voice is amazing!!!! 😃I’d love to buy the pedal…Does it cover vocal fx such as reverb and delay?. I’m still thinking… I’m between the rc 600 or the rc 500 hehe
Hey Marie! Yea I like the delays. It has regular delay and reverse delay. It also has global reverb and reverb for specific inputs 👍 I haven’t played w the 500, but I personally like having more tracks later out. easier to navigate.
Hi Emily - do you know how to simply record a track with the input effects. On my RC300, if I recorded with e.g. delay on at the time of recording, it played it back with the delay I recorded it with. With the RC600, I record with the effect on, but when I switch to playback, it just returns the dry signal (no effect). Is there any way to make it mimic what the old RC300 did (simply play it back with the effect you had on at the of recording) - Andy. PS - LOVE your work!
Oh snap that is a quirky thing. Mine already seems to work the way the old 300 did. I mean, you can see me doing it in this song. Or else the bass voice and harmony loops wouldn’t play back. That must be frustrating that the effects aren’t recording. Kind of a mystery really 🤔 @bossinfoglobal
I ran into a quirky bug around this that may help you. If you have ANY of your inputs turned OFF for any/all of your loop tracks and are applying an input effect to ALL inputs, it will not record the effect to the loop track. I use two mics for my looping set up. Because sometimes I want to loop vocal things, but most of the time I want to be able to loop guitar things WHILE singing without looping the vocals as well. So I use both mic inputs and just turn OFF one mic on all 6 loop tracks. Basically this just means it bypasses the loops so I can sing into it without it recording to any of the loop tracks. But because of this, if I set ANY of my input effects to "ALL", it won't record with the effects. It's a stupid bug, but the way to bypass is either I make input effects apply only to only ONE input (like the guitar or my looping mic) OR I simply plug my non looping vocal mic straight into the sound system and NOT into the RC 600 so that I don't have to turn off any of the inputs for track recording and I can then set my input effects to ALL and it will still record the effect. Hopefully this made sense, but feel free to ask clarifying questions. I hope this bug gets fixed soon because it's definitely a bug. There's no way it's the intended operation. Since we can only have 4 input effects active at once, I'm definitely annoyed that I can't say apply compression to ALL inputs that will then be recorded in the loops. So if I want compression on my vocals AND guitar, I have to designate TWO of the four input effects as THE SAME effect, just applied to two different inputs. Which is SO DUMB and limiting.
It can. In the Fx, It has an auto-harm and a manual-harm. But in my experience, machine doesn’t always get it right cuz music can do some unexpected things. But it can do it in a general sense. I am kind of a snob for harmony, so I try to record them myself when I can and loop it
I've contacted Roland to ask this exact same question, from what I can see, and tried, it looks like it doesn't have the capacity to do it, but will happily stand corrected if I'm wrong. Still waiting to hear back.
I thought that the first layer will dictates the lenght of all the other loop lenght. Is it this new feature of boss rc 600? Can this also be applied in rc 300?
The 300 can have varied lengths. You just have to assign if you want it to be a fixed amount of measures or ‘auto’. This one is way more flexible with having all different amounts of time. You can assign amounts too, but I prefer deciding how long each track goes on the fly 👍
@@EmilyMcVicker thanks for the reply! I think I need to explore more on this. Also having this error 3x in a month now LC 3071 0110 and LC 1245 0110. I updated the software right after I use it. I suspected maybe it's the keyboard that is connected to it, I'm not sure...
you can put up to 4 effects, A, B, C, and D. But how do I activate the D effect, if the pedalboard only has the imput buttons A, b, and C, there is no D, how do I activate the Fx D?
You can re assign switch number 4 to correlate to the D FX, but it will sacrifice one of your track Fx. So you have to chose what is more useful for your set up. I definitely use “input FX” more than track FX. So that’s what I did.

it worked well for that song! I've clicked it on a few times and it doesn't always sing right notes. especially if you're diong a chord progression with any borrowed chords. but I think you could get away with it for a few things. i'm just a harmony snob lol

@@EmilyMcVicker Hello! Are you able to assign a button to turn on or off the rhythm?? I know it could be done with a pedal, just didn't know if it could be done on the rig itself
Oh nice! I have a little compression on the whole looper and a touch of reverb. It’s going through MainStage in my computer and recording with OBS. Are you struggling with mic clarity? And if so, what are you trying?
Hey Emily, hello from Sydney Australia, love your work, epic skills and getting a lot from your sessions as new to the 600, quick one for you, the earbuds you use, how do you have those integrated/connected? P.S, love the harmonies. Keep is up - you bloody have it all :-)
Hi Lee! You’re so sweet and it’s great to hear from you! My earbuds are connected directly to my interface to my computer. I have an extender for it so I have a longer leash. But they plug directly in 👍
Just briefly, playing on my friend’s. I like it! If I weren’t a guitar player, I might have preferred that one. Who knows maybe I’ll try one in future! The newest version has the same fax as the 600z
I have a question. Can i make song presets. let's say i want to play superstition by stevie wonder. can i create all the loops i need at home, then go out to my show and use them ?
Except for the harmonizer, are there any effects that are not gimmicks? I mean who does need a robot voice? Does it have a good basic reverb for instance? Love your videos btw. Hugs from France.
Thank you so much! I kind of agree, that FX in general can be pretty gimmicky. but there's a few that i think could be very useful! I liked the bass function actually. it even worked on my voice. I like the panned delay a lot. and even the electric auto-tuny setting could be cool for certain styles. I don't know if i love the artificial harmonies to be honest. some people like them, but i'm kind of a BGV nerd and they never sound quite natural enough to me (even tho they're pretty good). But FX should be used like seasoning a meal - it's not the main food source, just an enhancement. It's always about the musical expression and skills firstly.
Muahaha!! It is my cardboard prototype that I made. I have a video featuring that one. I was trying to do a hypothetical gear demo before it was physically available. Now I have a real one and a hand painted rc-600 made of cardboard 🤪🤪🤪

Welcome to the channel! Do you play music?
can i split inputs and outputs to loop guitar and bass into their own amps and have the rythm section or drum sounds go to pa? so i can bypass mixer all together? just trying to have guitar and bass to sync to one looper but play them through their own amps i have and would like to have drums and vocals go to PA
Lol
I would definitely like to see more demo stuff to see what the RC 600 can do.
Any idea of how to make the delays on vocals be in sync with a tap or controlled via tap? I tap tempo in but would be cool if vocals followed.
Not sure if this answers your question, but there are options for some of the effects to sync to the tempo. I haven't played with them enough to know if that helps you or not, but I have noticed that some effects allow you to sync to the measure, multiple measures, or to any note length within a measure
Oh interesting. The Fx didn’t go along with the tempo?
Hahahaha, this was the first jam I did on the RC-600 too, Nice
Great minds!
Emily… great videos! You’re so talented. Love your fun style too. I just got the RC 600 and have two questions I was wondering if you could help with:
Sensacional! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hey Sofi! Good to hear it! And YES. When you go into the input FX, when you click into one of them, side step to the
@@EmilyMcVicker You are awesome! thanks!
Amazing voice 😮 nice Demo of the RC600 too😉
Thank you friend! 🙏❤️
Yea I like the auto harmony also..will hook up a midi controller for toggle that
Oh nice! Ya the harmonies definitely work sometimes
@@EmilyMcVicker awesome!!!! Thank you for your help!!!! 🥰 Love your videos!! 😃
Really talented. ❤
Aww thanks appreciate it my friend 🙏
I'm trying to get a definite yes or no as to whether the RC-600 can generate harmonies by reading your guitar chords. Thanks for any help!
SEI BRAVISSIMA!
Thank you friend!!!
@@EmilyMcVicker Thank you very much, I'm from Brazil, and I can't find anything in English about her, only video in English, and I can't speak English... I'm using a translator. I will try to do what you said here.
The auto harmonizer was surprisingly good.
it worked well for that song! I've clicked it on a few times and it doesn't always sing right notes. especially if you're diong a chord progression with any borrowed chords. but I think you could get away with it for a few things. i'm just a harmony snob lol
@@EmilyMcVicker - auto harmonizers are pretty dicey, that's why I'm surprised when they sound really nice.
Amazing🎉🎉
Thanks 🤗
Really excited to get mine, but have looked everywhere in South Africa, and can you believe it, not one unit. The RC-300 and 30 is half price everywhere. Would love to send you some looping that I did only using a TC-Helicon Play Acoustic pedal. Might be cool to give some other looping perspectives on you channel. Anyway, big fan as always. Good luck with the RC-600, William Blackrose (RUclips) and williamblackrose (Twitch)
Sounds good William! I would love to see! Also, if you have a pick of your current rig, I have a new section of my discord server for people to share their gear! Ya the 600s are still kind of scarce in the US also. Supply chain issues.
@@EmilyMcVicker Hello! Are you able to assign a button to turn on or off the rhythm?? I know it could be done with a pedal, just didn't know if it could be done on the rig itself
Hahah this one’s so cool
hello.. how do you assign different effects to the guitar and the voice.
When you go to the Fx you want, click < arrow and look at the options under ‘insert’. That will show what gets the effect
can you easily switch effects on and off easily during a song?
There’s a few different ways. But to make it the most accessible, I would add a midi switch and use that instead of switching between pedal modes
🔥🔥🔥
How did you get the mic sound so clear ? any advice ?
Oh nice! I have a little compression on the whole looper and a touch of reverb. It’s going through MainStage in my computer and recording with OBS. Are you struggling with mic clarity? And if so, what are you trying?
@@EmilyMcVicker yes just straight sm58 to looper and coming out of the speaker .
Is there a reverb effect build in?
Yes 👍 and sometimes I’ve been putting the reverb on my FS-6, so I can turn on and off between songs
❤
🥰
You are just georgeous McVicker. I have a few original song i would like to share with you.
You’re very sweet 🥰
Hey Emily, hello from Sydney Australia, love your work, epic skills and getting a lot from your sessions as new to the 600, quick one for you, the earbuds you use, how do you have those integrated/connected? P.S, love the harmonies. Keep is up - you bloody have it all :-)
Hi Lee! You’re so sweet and it’s great to hear from you! My earbuds are connected directly to my interface to my computer. I have an extender for it so I have a longer leash. But they plug directly in 👍
@@EmilyMcVicker thanks you, which model headphones do you have?
quite interessting i like the whole layer thing kinda inspires me btw have you ever tried looping with the rc505 ?
Just briefly, playing on my friend’s. I like it! If I weren’t a guitar player, I might have preferred that one. Who knows maybe I’ll try one in future! The newest version has the same fax as the 600z
Would you say it has the same vocal effects as the VE-20?
I haven’t used a VE-20. Is that what you currently use?
@@EmilyMcVicker No, I still don’t have any of these devices. I’m trying to figure out which one would make more sense for me as a saxophone player.
I have a question. Can i make song presets. let's say i want to play superstition by stevie wonder. can i create all the loops i need at home, then go out to my show and use them ?
Oh totally! Some people like to do it that way. Kind of like playing to tracks. Would make your show super consistent 👍
Are the vocal effects pro quality in your opinion?
Absolutely! Still figuring out how to use them more seamlessly in action. Just got a supplemental pedal to assign and make them more accessible.
Who needs a robot voice??? How dare you!?!
Rats, somehow I'm missing my notifications. This one is FUN!
Ha! I shot this the day I got it but didn’t know what kind of video it was gonna come out as. But it’s kind of nice just to hear how each FX sounds.
How do I JOIN your discord server..I doubt anyone has ever done my set up. Really
Oh now I’m intrigued! Go to my flow code with my socials and the discord is in there :)
noice
Thanks Ray! 😎
Was there a 2ND 600 on the ground?!?
Muahaha!! It is my cardboard prototype that I made. I have a video featuring that one. I was trying to do a hypothetical gear demo before it was physically available. Now I have a real one and a hand painted rc-600 made of cardboard 🤪🤪🤪

Do you prefer the 600 to the 300? When are you going to perform a full song with the new one? :-)
Hey friend! I’ve been playing it for a few months on twitch. I should put some more full songs up I agree :) definitely prefer the 600 now that I’ve got my settings a little more dialed. It’s smaller, lighter, and sounds noticeably better. The Fx are great, even tho I don’t really utilize them in performance much yet. Maybe I will add slowly
