I see what you are trying to do: create a contrast and celebrate one cleric's value on the basis of his courtesy toward your kind while implying the Church itself stands unworthy of such esteem.
      Duplicitous females like yourself, like Eve, your archetype and origin, are why nuns, though valued, will never run the church, whereas priests and pontiffs do and always will so long as it is God's Church.

    My Great Uncle is an exorcist of the Catholic Church.
    It wasn't his choice, when a catholic priest retire but still wants to work, the Bishop usually give him a side task on the dioscese, for him it was exorcist.
    He was kinda perplex at first, but then quickly started to love this.
    And it is indeed true that 99% of the time, he is just a free catholic psychiatrist. He is then followed by a team of parishioners that are psychiatrists or with similar competencies that can take over or recommend to medical professionals.
    Sometimes, the person who called him really want something, so he does a "show", like burning the object that is cursed.
    Like all services of the Catholic church this is 100% free, but sadly many people fake that they are catholic exorcist and ask for payment after exorcism, abusing people in distress.

    • @mrsupremegascon
      @mrsupremegascon 6 месяцев назад +16

      The 1% are the ones asking for a "show" and not just talk or prayers.
      So it's about burning cursed objects or spreading holy waters around the house to calm the guy.
      He never told me about something really paranormal he encountered, and he is very skeptical about that (he really didn't wanted to be exorcist at first, but the Bishop really put him on it after his retirement as regular priest. Apparently bc he is a very social guy).
      The vast majority of people calling exorcist are very paranoid and religious people. They think someone are actively trying to ruin their life with curses.

And Father Gabriel Amorth (Russell Crowe's character) is right, if evil does not exist what then is the role of the church? People who act like evil does not exist has never faced evil in their life and I pray that, for their safety, they never have to face evil. Those of us who have faced evil turn to that which can only save us, Jesus Christ; he is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. It is amazing how those who read scripture and believe it, believe that there is no evil, no demons, no satan. It astounds me. May God bring you peace, and let His love shine upon you. I find it quite telling that the cardinal remains silent and it's the young bishop doing all the talking. I take this to mean that the cardinal is not 100% behind the idea, but probably feels that the younger bishop has a better understanding of the "modern" church, and is therefore going along with it. As we get older, we may get wiser, but at the same time the gap between generations becomes wider with each passing year.

    I am not part of any church, I don't have a religion, but I do believe. In the world, every religion's responsibility to enforce compassion, kindness, and protect the people from themselves. Everyone is a sinner, even priests, exorcists, the Pope himself, or any head of religion for that matter. Sins are always in everyone, and religion's purpose is not to eradicate sins, but to prevent people from succumbing to them. The only one who can fight evil is the one who knows it. The arrogance and pride is the main reason why religions can't work together to fight this evil. So if we want to defend ourselves, we must reflect on ourselves first.

This is why religional institutes are so high up, so they can have a choice in the matter. It's very important to make those laws within the confines of good morals, and religion provides those morals. The problem is that many people think religion are laws themselves, and treat it very factual. But really, the teachings of religion are actually guidelines to good morals.

    Italian is very hard to speak fluently, even harder to fake. Almost impossible to fool a native speaker because there are so many little tweaks and peculiarities. But here Russell Crowe manages to speak slowly and murmurs a lot, goving a pretty credible impression for someone whom im assuming memorized his lines. Its not perfect but pretty close

    He continues to say "ok, let's start" in italian, great way to make it clear from the beginning he has no interest in playing by their rules. The one next to O'Sullivan I would guess is the bishop of Calabria whos pride is hurt because he was passed over, or a friend of his based on how he reacts. The Cardinal doesn't care at all about the meeting, right until Amorth brings up the dead girl and the congregation, those get his attention. And the guy to his right is just vibing.

    This scene doesn't make sense. If Amorth is in trouble for performing an exorcism without approval, of which was witnessed by a third party, then why would the congregation vacant the position of Chief Exorcist due to irrelevance of outdated beliefs? It seems like a double bind. Either admit he performed an exorcism without approval and get reprimanded for doing his job or lie and become redundant.🤔

    • @ethericdata
      @ethericdata 6 месяцев назад +1

      Also, why would Amorth need approval to perform an exorcism? Is there any scenario where it is to the Church's benefit to not perform an exorcism on someone who is possessed? Even if it was performed on someone outside the faith, surely that would make them a believer? Right?

    The Garden of Love
    By William Blake
    I went to the Garden of Love,
    And saw what I never had seen:
    A Chapel was built in the midst,
    Where I used to play on the green.
    And the gates of this Chapel were shut,
    And 'Thou shalt not' writ over the door;
    So I turn'd to the Garden of Love,
    That so many sweet flowers bore.
    And I saw it was filled with graves,
    And tomb-stones where flowers should be:
    And Priests in black gowns, were walking their rounds,
    And binding with briars, my joys & desires.
