The fact the Demon in this Movie had actual Lore tied to him from back in the Spanish Inquisition was what made it golden for me. I love lore like that. Gives the Demon a Sense of Ancientness, aswell as danger.
I don't often, if ever, say this about a modern film, but this looks good. And Russell Crow fits the part to perfection.

Father Amorth fought Fascists in WW2 and Pope John Paul II stood against Communists in the Cold War. These two must have been a formidable pair.
And Father respects That pope even showing loyalty when orders given
... Who is going to tell him that the Italian resistance was mostly made up of Leftists, of anarchists and communists? And John Paul II didn't do anything NEARLY on that level.
Amorth fought the wrong enemy. John however, was on the right side.

Franco Neros Pope is magnificent...his deep voice is awesome....a legend !!!
This is totally unhistorical. Fr Amorth would have lived through the succession of the Pius popes through John Paul II.

Watched it last night and enjoyed it. Russell Crowe is awesome as Father Amorth.
He asked John Wick if he came for the Pope when he was in Rome, now he is the Pope 😁.

The movie was good. I have read Amorth's books. There is certainly some Hollywood in this film but it is well done. Give the books a read and you may appreciate this movie a little more
Exorcism isn’t real and Amorth also thought Harry Potter and yoga were gateways to hell.

@@jonharrison9222 --I personally know of a priest who lived in Rome at the time that Fr Amorth's predecessor, Fr Carmino, did. So contrary to your skepticism, there is a rite for exorcism with training to go along with it.

Anyway, the film was not that great - exorcists of Catholic Church would tell you that is not usually as evil entities manifest themselves and SPOILER an exorcist, who fights for the good, would never accept to deal with the devil to have somebody freed.
Anyway, at least Franco Nero - the Pope - still shows talent, although he plays only for a few minutes.

Far from his fighting shape in Gladiator.
He has been kind of chubby for a while . Of course for a role such as this it would be unrealistic if a priest was totally jacked .
He still comes across as quite powerful physically though, I think. Something about the way he carries himself.

@@jchea1764 - i saw it at the theater...and again since i bought the bluray...dont listen to haters of the film...clearly it is not like the original Exorcist and it is not trying to be like the original Exorcist....Russell Crowe is great and there are some moments of humor. I enjoyed it enough to buy the bluray. The movie leaves room for a possible sequel...i hope so. 😎
