You do realize the paper on drywall is important right? Without the paper, it’s just crumbly gypsum. Now you have to mud and tape the edges in order to make a structurally sound repair. It’s the same reason screw heads shouldn’t pierce the paper.
Even tho this is a small piece of drywall that likely no one will even hang something on top of it. It would’ve taken far less time to just cut the whole thing out and then get some screws and maybe a piece of pine to hold that drywall in place…. Of course, not everyone has drywall screws, and impact/drill and a piece of pine lying around tho lol
You couldn’t have made that any more difficult to do or watch, there are a million videos about this, be original your girlfriend will appreciate it 🤷🏼♂️🤦♀️👷♀️
So many do it wrong this is the one and only correct way. Been doing this way for 40 plus years. Finally
Proof you can do something wrong for 40 years 🤣
You smart bugger... I am sure you are not the first, but the first I have seen! Thanks. Jim/Maryland

Brilliant Thank you
Very clever and really.
Except for burying wires. Hopefully you put a work over box up stairs...
Wires? What wires? He's the madman of drywall, not the wizard of electrical
Simple n effective
Excellent Tip👍
Well done burying cables that will need access.......no clue

What you just did is against code… You can’t bury/hide wires with connecting points behind drywall… SMFH 🤦🏼♂️
Not just that but that hole is not secure. If pressure is applied it will cave in again or crack up.
Lololll😂😂😂
That's a lot more work than using a hole saw to create a new piece. Put some mesh on and plaster.

Don't think you should mud over a wire junction
