1984 - born 1994 - 10 2004 - 20 2014 - 30 2024 - 40 I really feel that I grew up during the best years. Wish I could relive it even for a day. It’s sad looking back on those years and seeing the missed opportunities and things you missed out on just because you were a stupid teenager. Nostalgia is a bitch. But at least we still have the music and the memories.
So I'm 33 years old now, still listening to this song, and still excited about the fact that it was filmed at my high school. John Burroughs H.S. Frickin Awesome.
I'm fucking old...(coming up to 60 next year). A lot of my friends and acquaintances denied music beyond the mid 80's. As a musician, I was happy to hear anything that was new and original. I remember hearing so many good songs in the 90's. This was one of them. I loved Tonic. They were a real 'tonic' for the soul. My band used to cover "You Wanted More" and "Mean to Me". We didn't care if people liked it or not. We liked Tonic and the stuff they wrote, and it was a moment of self indulgence for us. We'd finish playing their stuff and look at each other with big grins on our faces. Mission accomplished. I know they still work, but it would be nice to see them on top again.
I'm an old 80's metal drummer and I'm bumpin 50 and I still rock to tunes by tonic. I like "If you could only see" too. These are tunes that stand on their own, regardless of genre. They're awesome.
On a personal note, I loved the music until the mid 80's. After that, I noticed the songs that came out weren't as good. There seemed to be a lull. Things began to look up again in the early-mid 90's. This lasted all the way until the early 2000's. Again, this is just how I saw it. I love the music of the 70's and 80's. I also love the music of the mid to late 90's.
cowboy742 I was about to say the same thing couldn't stop reading comments... I'm pushing 50 I'm on the other side of the hill... and I play guitar this song and if you could only see.... they certainly will stand the test of time....
@@gforce1754 what a beautiful comment!! Wow I feel this soooo much! And it’s sooo true the friendships, the memories, the CLOSENESS that you felt to these people in those years was so very special to me. Later on all I could say was if you never knew what it was like to sneak outside at night at 11pm to see your H.S sweetheart (when grounded) , or jump in a car full of friends when you get off work at the local mall or have your first kiss be to a matchbox 20 song….heck or even wait for the house phone to ring to talk to a relative bc we had NO cell phones then I can’t make you understand! Then I realized that American Pie was on TV last night and I remember I watched the whole end credits. That was why the song was so familiar because I'd heard it twice in less that a day. So happy I've found it cus I'd have gone nuts otherwise.
"This one time at band camp I stuck a flute in my-"
This song speaks volumes!
i freakin love this song, Who's watching this still in 2015?
Better question: Who's still typing that stupid question on comment threads in 2015?

+THE BIG BAD WOLF I am
2021 and i’m here cause i wanna go back to there
Tonic is so crazy underrated
I love the way they combined strong rock'n'roll guitars with sweet and melodic parts
Lyrics also make the songs memorable the more you hear them- no flash in the pan.
I miss the 90s!
1999 ROCKED!!!
Custodian, Custodial, Janitors RULE!!!! AWESOME!!! COOL!!!
So, so, sooo much 90s in this video.. ♡ those were the days*
Still one of my favorite songs. I saw them at JMU many years ago. They hung out and talked to my friends and I for a bit. Super nice and so talented!
2016 ..and this song still rocks !!!
SNK G. It sure does!!!!
Great song and a cool video
ah.. 90"s..the best
Love Is Tragic
Love Is Bold
You Will Always
Do What You Are Told
Love Is Hard
Love Is Strong
You Will Never Say That You Were Wrong
I Don't Know When I Got Bitter
But Love Is Surely Better When It's Gone
'Cause You Wanted More
More Than I could Give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
Love is color
Love is loud
Love is never saying you're too proud
Love is trusting
Love is honest
Love is not a hand that holds you down
I don't know when I got bitter
But love is surely better when it's gone
[CHORUS]
I got to pick me up when I am down
I got to get my feet back on the ground
I got to pick me up when I am down
[CHORUS]
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
The harder you would shove
You Wanted More
More Than I could Give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
you wanted more! timeless!
most of today's generation don't know great music of the 90's...like tonic
+marlinfan8able You got my LIKE! \o/
🤔 he looks like cakes singer
do you honestly think this is "great music" lmao fuck off
@@holyreality02is all about perspective. in this case feelings, emotions, the melody and that basss progression make this song great to me. Also the fact that is from American pie soundtrack influenced a lot on how you view this song.
Tonic put out some great albums.
Love Tonic. ❤
this song is awesome I like to blast it loud when I'm drinking beer
That's what I'm doing now!!
Great
I was in high school when this song came out. Wonderful memories! 90's! 😀
Those times 😣
You're so dead on right ! no great stuff nowadays :-(. Spot on version of this great song here (at least some guys still can play :-)) : ruclips.net/video/gNY9T4QVcdk/видео.html
Perfect music!
Miss these kinds of bands totally stripped down, dedicated more to their music, than their image. Tonic is ear candy at its finest and always flexing their charisma
Good standing too. Righteous sounds with balls!
Seriously, one of the most nostalgic tracks ever.
Andie Garcia I have to agree
great song ....never get tired of hearing it 😀
American Pie soundtrack, so nostalgic, I listened to it every day after i saw the movie
This is one of the most musically and lyrically strong bands of the 90s. I hate that they didn't go farther. One hell of a voice too.
Really liked the bass parts and drumming of this gem. So underrated .
Love this song makes you feel emotional 😩😩😩💔💔💔
2017, and I know we're getting old, but very happy for have had the chance to see good bands and good songs. I Miss all those days of 90's.
This video is so beautiful. The 90s were so amazing
I Don't Know When I Got Bitter
But Love Is Surely Better When It's Gone
'Cause You Wanted More
More Than I could Give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
You wanted more

Thanks i finally could sing with the chorus now lol
Lol you're welcome
You're wonderful
Kinjal Vyas Thank you so are you.
Take me back please i miss the 90s
I am 58 and loved them soo much. BTW, soaring eagle casino tonight, Tonic and Live, me and my 38 year old daughter are there 😀 gonna probably cry.
the lyrics are so true ........absolutely brilliant
You wanted more, more then I could bare, more then I could offer, and a love that isn't there...
I couldn't agree more Kim and I will be 36 at the end of August :)
+Marisa Wren yep we know the lyrics!
+susan wallace Gee really? I'm shocked! Lmao 😂
Kim Martin we are the same age, I'll be 28 in June though, and I couldn't agree more!
This song is a message to every woman I ever met.. I'm sorry I was never good enough
Still here baby! Still here for my fix of nostalgia!
This song from Tonic seems very demanding, because it's supposed to get their fans' attention about pressure that develops in their lives.
The absence love, and only memories of what was lost is all that remains. It’s almost as if it never even happened, and no one will ever remember it except me. It’s my dying hope that you still think of me, because for me it never really goes away.
Tonic is one of the best, without a doubt
80,s ruled the air waves
