God this guy's voice. It's so good. They are so so so underrated.
how lucky we were, bands playing really live, singers without autotune, excellent music and lyrics
So so so underrated
@@anthonybrewer2483 today yes, then no way
This comment is underated as well.
one of the best songwriters ever.thank you for framing the 90's for me.
Sounds better than the album version..........performing live is the only true test of talent. Fanatastic!!!!!
Dang they made this performance look effortless. Flawless.
Such an underrated band.
At 0:46 I love when Jeff and Dan start singing and Emerson turns to each of them and just listens/observes. ❤
Very clean mix. Can hear every note.
Right? This session might be the best live representation of Tonic on the internet.
Absolutely! You can hear every grace note on the snare.
So true!
Unbelievable
Very good point!
I love when the other band members have the capability to sing backing vocals.
I always loved them ❤️ 💕 great music 🎶 🎵
Anybody else wanna see these guys tour again? I know I do!
Poatman1963 Johnson They do tour . were in California last weekend 9-2018

Everyone looks, great, sounds perfect….we’re so fortunate to have Tonic. Perfect rock band music.
The band "Tonic" are Truly Rock Stars" they are amazing as a band, and to write crafty and catchy songs with an edge is not an easy thing to do, they have great backup harmonies and the song is just like 😲 WOW" who out there can lay down a live track like this. This is a very good band. Today is Monday July 17, 2023 A.D. and they still rock hard!
this mix kicks ass
American Pie, 90's gold soundtrack, what i always wait for the radio to play. Damn this song feel so good. So damn good. right 2019 listener?
I don't know what it is about this song but it puts a huge smile on my face. Doesn't get much better than this.
Right up there with “Deep Blue Something”.
Great song and love the movie
I am seeing these guys love tomorrow night for the second time and I am SUPER excited. They blew me away when I was 20. Pretty sure they’ve aged like fine wine - 23 years later, here we goooooo!
I don't who mixed this but - wow what an amazing job! Very hard to do this in this type setting!
one of the best songs and best bands of the 90's man!! 90's for-evah!
This song sounds simple but this is actually a very technical song performed by a highly technical band. Every part of it is brilliant. Drums, bass, guitars, back-up harmonies... Tonic is genius.
Their drummer gets mad points. He's tight af
I can't speak to any other roles, but the drummer is freaking crushing it here. Source: Drumming for 40 years.
Freeking figures. The drummer is absolutely destroying things, and they don't show him once. Lol.
I totally concur with the other comments in this sub-thread. The drums on the original song are epic and this guy nails most of the parts that make it so. Not sure if it's the original drummer or not, but since THEY DON'T SHOW HIM EVEN ONCE (other than his hands at the beginning) I guess we'll never know! I'm so happy to see that other people also recognize the drums on this. I would love to see an accurate transcription of the drums, if that's even possible. More ghost notes than a Casper Family Reunion!
@@eriklarson9137 I've been touting the drums on this song for years! It's nice to see another drummer recognize that as well. I play drums on my own original music (because I know what I want but mainly out of necessity) and would love to be able to play this, but I don't even know where to start piecing it together. I highly doubt that anyone has been able to accurately transcribe it, but I would pay a non-insignificant amount of money to get my hands on that (if it even exists).
Seen Tonic with Collective Soul what a Great Concert.
This was seriously one of the best live bands of the 90s. They were using a click before everyone else and it shows. These dudes were and I'm sure still are great. Much love to Tonic.
American Living. They had a gig in California last weekend .Sept.2018.
I saw Tonic and Goo Goo Dolls in '99 and it was 1 of the best live shows I've ever seen!!!
If only more bands were able to play this good live. It sounds better than the studio version.
This song has stayed with me for decades. Such an incredible song. Tonic deserves so much more love than history gives them. They had to of the best songs of their era.
These songs are wonderful and painful at the same time...they came out right when my 1st love said she wants me out 😢 very difficult to listen now 😭
That performance was so tight..
song never gets old , A+ on the drums
His voice hasn’t changed. Sounds great. Saw them live in Numbers in Houston.
it has a bit, it is subtle but he suffers a bit from the "old singer" syndrome. You can hear it at 0:43 on "wanted".
This is probably one of the best live version of any song ever, kickass live performance.
Good rhythm with the bassist and lead guitarist on back up vocals together. That's a lost art these days.
+Wiser72 Couldn't agree more. It used to be a pre-qualifier to be in a good band at all. Even cooler, is the fact that having them sing as a duo corrects the resolution problem the studio version has, in the chorus. Way more satisfying to the ears :-)
+lockstar169 what resolution problem? just curious...
If you listen to the studio, the last few bars of the first progression of the chorus, it's not possible to sing the last line of the first progression "...and a life that I can't live..." and also sing the beginning "You Wanted more" of the second progression of the chorus.
There's no possible way for one person to do both is what I'm saying.
Love Tonic, so many great songs. Saw them at the Brat Stop in Kenosha Wisconsin and it was one of the best concerts I've seen. Very underrated band.
Craig beckman My Man! What up Craig?
I love every version of this song. I turn 34 next month and was an angsty teen when Tonic released this. I’m an angsty mum now, and sharing the gift of 90s rock with my little boy.
Oh hell yes!! More please!!!
Untouched perfection
2021 still one of my favorite band since 90's also one my best chosen song
So THAT'S how you play it. I've always been trying to work this out, this track has been a guitar enigma. You can really rate a band when they hit it from scratch, right in front of you. Nice set.👏
The bands sounds tight. very talented musicians.
What an awesome live version of You Wanted More !! Tonic is one of my favorite bands of all from the 90's ever since the moment that I listened to Lemon Parade when it came out in 96. Just a great group of musicians that have outstanding vocals and write fantastic songs that are full of groove that totally Rock !!! Emerson as a vocalist and songwriter is second to none. I truly hope that they tour for many more years to come !! ✌️🎸🎤
a refreshing radio song
Love is tragic, love is bold
You will always do what you are told
Love is hard, love is strong
You will never say that you were wrong
I don't know when I got bitter
But love is surely better when it's gone
'Cause you wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
Love is color, love is loud
Love is never saying you're too proud
Love is trusting, love is honest
Love is not a hand that holds you down
I don't know when I got bitter
But love is surely better when it's gone
'Cause you wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
I got to pick me up when I am down
I got to get my feet back on the ground
I got to pick me up when I am down
I don't know when I got bitter
But love is surely better when it's gone
'Cause you wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
You wanted more
More than I could love
More than I could offer
The harder you would shove
You wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
In a life that I can't live
We want more....music like this...!!!
Hugely under-appreciated band. A band where everything comes together perfectly, and their gems like this one stand the test of decades. Kudos to you, Tonic.
I really love this version
Ok, so how can someone dislike this? It's gotta be purely bitterness, no other explanation.
or the screen is up side down.....
Because they're scumbag trolls. They have nothing better to do than go to the videos of various artists, and to harass the die-hard fans who are there. Usually, their comments are way worse than their hitting the dislike icon is.
Love these guys. Lemon parade released in 96 I graduated in 97.
This band has kept me through my crazy years as a kid. Thank you.
wish I could like this more than once
Love the beat to this song…
♥️♥️♥️
Well .....18 years ago this was playing on movie credits , time has the light speed , well done boys this was VERY PLEASANT and fresh , loved it.
Love this band!
Have we mentioned the harmonies yet???? Good lord this is perfect emotional pop rock
A most excellent band and tune 😊❤️👍🎶🎶🎶🎶
Spot on
Love these guys. Still sound fresh. Best of the 90’s. Miss them both.
Dang ! This sounds legit live. Truly a great band !
wow that performance was perfection all round
great music lost art.. love this live version. positive note
Great Ass song! And I agree, very underrated…the vocals are killer as the music.
Great live track! Love the backing vocals!
Was lucky enough to see Tonic open for Better than Ezra in 2011. Was a great up close show. Became a much bigger fan after that.
Loved Better than Ezra!!!! Going to see Tonic in APRIL in Charlotte at the Summer of '99 tour !!
This type of live performance is what made me fall in love with this song, only I'd seen it on German TV some 20 years ago...
These guys are completely genius!
I do want it more. More of this song...
Damn... You guys nailed this.
This song is so super bad ass!!! I totally agree with the people who say these guys are underrated.. all very talented, the vocals are amazing
killer drum groove i dig it.
This is great . I wanted to sees the drums also.
Love this band! Love this song!
Super tight band. Underrated in the era of grunge and self loathing
Love the harmony on the chorus
i have said it before and it's still sadly true "love is surely better when it's gone" beautiful!
damn they still rock
...never stopped rockin' ;)
Chuck Bonnette. Even in 2018...20 year anniversary.
That guitar solo though!
Sounds just like the record. Great performance.
So Goddamn good, guys.
Was THEN, and is STIILL, NOW
The lead singers first name is Emerson. Doesn't get more rockstar than that!
Que banda tan buena, geniales en vivo. Otro grupo olvidado de finales de los 90s
Had such a great sound!
Love the slight but perfect change made at 2:04. I don’t think they sang ( “offer”) it that way on the album . Underrated band.
Excellent Musicians! Such a badass performance. 💯💯💯
one of best bands ever
Robinsson Cravents I totally agree!
What a great sound ...
This is music!!
2022. Still slaps.
Great song. Good job 👏
Pop-Rock bliss. That’s all that needs to be said.
Still love you & this feel.
Whole childhood right there
a master piece
One of the best live-playin bands!! So great!!
The best!
Great song, solid pop-rock, 100 million times better than most of the pop crap out today!
Blessed to have seen this band at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd. 🙏 👍
The invisible drummer is something else…
lol!
Wow, these guys are great! Talented af.
I really miss this song.
Excellent!!
After all these years, I love this song as much as I did the first time I heard it..........
Awesome!!!
Freakin awesome!!
LOve it! Brings back memories from teenage years!
I love that Dan is still using that same P-Bass. I have the exact same model which I bought in 1997. I always geeked on seeing him play his back in the day.
No love for the drummer?? Great tune, great feel.
he’s not part of the band but session for them.
Damn these guys are so good. Never gets old.
Absolutely love tonic !! Cheers from Toronto
