Its funny you mention that it is a great first car, i got one from my dad for around $1000 with 200,000 miles on it, good car and still runs strong, Built Ford Tough
FallenBrotherhood good to know, I have twins turning 16 and if there grades are good I'll get them a safe used car and this is on my list. Any trouble with this cars that you know of? Thanks be safe
My 2014 SE has a 5-speed manual and gets 40 mpg on the twisting, hilly, 2-lane blacktop that I drive 52 miles to work. The USB port accepts a thumb drive with my audio books, which is a huge bonus for me. The car is peppy and handles great - I've had to dodge deer and possums on my commute. My only (minor) gripes are the door lock button in the middle of the dash, so that I have to lean back in to lock it because 50 years of locks on the door itself is a hard habit to break; and the fact that the ignition key slot is not dished to guide the key to the slot.
@I Am Who I Am that sounds like a y'all problem, instead of just getting a new car at that point, y'all complain and waste on money on fixing it over and over
I recently got a 2014 Focus SE to replace my old 2012 200 Touring. Was a little skeptical about the powershift transmission, but the dealer did a good job taking care of it and making it feel new.
I have one. Fast enough and for $13k used in my country looks pretty good. Fuel economy could be better though, with no AC and shifting as soon is possible (without knocking the engine) I get 9.5 l/100 km. Also the Bluetooth phone sync thing works great. Definitively a good step up from my previous Chevy Spark.
I just bought mine used over the weekend, I got a 13' SE. So far I love it....people like to trash these cars due to the transmission. What I've found is that you can't flog these cars like a sports car, you have to drive them like you were driving a manual....minus the clutch and shift (done by computer). It's a zippy car, and I have a 4 year warranty from the dealer on it... I'll have this car paid off around that time and it can be someone else's problem, haha.
@@freeminded2456 the DCT, and my radio crapped out twice, and I had to buy a new one each time. Now I have a Tesla style Android touch screen that has worked longer than both OEM versions.
Would be a cool project car to mod and seems like a great daily driver but if you are going strictly for performance and aesthetic I'd recommend the RS or the ST over the SE.
the ford focus with manual transmission is an awesome car much beter than any other car in the competition except the VW golf i think but cani get an exact comparison between the VW golf and Ford focus
Most people have maintenance stuff in the trunk. Washer fluid, battery charging cables, small compressor that works off battery power, shovel and sand for winter, transmission fluid, oil etc. No room for a 6' journalist with all the equipment. A short journalist maybe. 🙂
Values a large trunk, but the hatch is so much better. Don't understand why they sent the inferior sedan. When I sat it in the climate controls felt cheap as if I'd break them. Also hard to believe any new car still has a complete folding rear seat on any trim. Focus is one of the best looking new compacts and I like the wheels on the car they sent for the video a lot. Wish more manufacturers offered alloys with the painted inserts.
I assume the sedan has the same transmission issue as the hatchback, just wondering because all Ive seen are transmission issues and reports on hatchbacks for some reason.
the only thing i didnt like about this video is his comment about the electric stirring i have the focus se with the spot package and i love the stirring it doesnt give a dead feel i find that every time i get into another car with regular powering stirring it feels rough or lacking in response.

Hey Alex long time no see I love the haircut this is a pretty old video what is your haircut? Also the last time I talk we talked about the Civic and Corolla well now it seems like it's between this (which reminds me of a Civic a bit test drove it and loved it) and a 2012 Chrysler 200 which do you suggest? Also get this haircut it looks great on you.
Yea is is an oldie. Well, between the Civic, Corolla, Focus and 200, I would take the 200. The 200 does have a low price so it sort of makes sense in this comparison. In general the Chrysler competitor to the Focus is the Dart. I think my favorite in this segment is still the Mazda3, followed by the Forte. But, if I was debating between a Mazda3 with a few options and a Chrysler 200 in a lower end trim... That would be a hard call, the 200 is an incredible value even though the Mazda3 would be much more fun to drive.
well about the comfort the suspension is stiff so does it make the ride stifferanduncomfortable than a honda fit, straiaway, which is a more comfortable car the honda fit or focus
no mine has blue tooth and doesn't charge anything unless you plug a usb into the cigarette lighter to charge while driving if you shut the vehicle off it shuts the cigarette lighter out
I didn't find the interior of high quality... The DSG is a cheap imitation of VW, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's was necessary to keep cost down
my Focus Sits in the shop wont start keeps breaking down pioneer told me i need to wait 5 weeks my job requires a dependable car this is not it? its junk
the automatic and manual are one in the same the automatic is 2 -3 speed transmissions with an automatic clutch if uou want manual you shift down to the next lower gear then you push arrow up or the down arrow to to shift down through all 6 gears which is not at all the same
Good to know a body will fit in the trunk just fine! :D
Matt Stephens If I could find the trunk release inside the car , I can only use the key fob
+Billy C. LeWorth there is a release on the trunk lid.
I looked and all I can find is the plate light , I'll try again though and thanks for the advice .Logan Hart

The dude actually went in the trunk, then rated it 7/10. LMAO!!!!
i think the man knows a thing or two about being in trunks if he reviewed it
just in case you need to get rid of a body. its standard procedure
I believe he did that to give us a real sense of space becasue the trunks just look like a black hole in most videos so that was awesome of him.

Love my 2012 focus SEL after 8 years it is a solid car with up to date features even today.
Love my focus SEL even after 10 years of ownership....!!!
@I Am Who I Am I mean, what car wont have transmission or any issue after a decade, kiddo? ... 🤷♂️
@I Am Who I Am do you own one? Or just speaking because of what others say
@I Am Who I Am that sounds like a y'all problem, instead of just getting a new car at that point, y'all complain and waste on money on fixing it over and over
I don't think the steering in this car is numb at all. This is one of the better steering compact cars.
I recently got a 2014 Focus SE to replace my old 2012 200 Touring. Was a little skeptical about the powershift transmission, but the dealer did a good job taking care of it and making it feel new.
hello - how was the 2012 200 Touring? did it have the V6? How was it? did you have decent luck with it? thx
Nice job. I thumbs up this review as soon as I saw the guy get in the trunk.

Interesting. My 2013 has the original radio at 100k miles. Mine is a 5 speed though
My clutch went out at 165,000 miles. That was the only problem I had with that car in 6 years.

I agree with Tom. Dash looks a bit busy for me. But Ford has greatly improved their quality over the years. Looks good.

As an owner of Focus for 6 years, I would not recommend this car, because the transmission is unsmooth and easily to beak down
.....probably because people drive them aggressively, smh.
interior looks too busy for me, but have to give Ford credit for putting out a quality car.
Does this car have Bluetooth, keyless entry and push start?
