We recently sold our 2001 Ford Escort with over 250,000miles. It is still on the road. I see it around town occasionally. Except for regular oil changes, tires, brakes and other general wear and tear we had no issues. The engine did not use a drop of oil between changes. We bought it new for $9000.

My wife had this pos and the transmission kept failing and Ford just kept resetting the software until it left her stranded. You took your life in your hands trying to pull out into traffic lol. We left it at Ford and said you keep it. They did help get another focus but, it's not had the same issue thankfully. 🙏

Proud owner of 2012 focus titanium, 177836 miles today. Replaced clutch unit at 165000 ish miles, catalytic converted at 130000 ish miles, and engine/transmission mounts at 120000 ish miles. Very satisfied with the vehicle overall, only other costs were regular maintenance. BTW: the harder you drive it the better the transmission shifts. If it shudders low speed, take it out and do 3-4 stopped WOT to 50 mph runs to reset the clamp force and touch points of the clutches...butter shifts after. And I get almost 40 MPG on long trips and steady high 20's daily. Love my focus.

I have a 2014 Focus. It did break one clutch, and they fixed it after many hours of documentation and complaints. Afterwards, it was good for awhile, no shuddering. Then it came back. Flashed the tcm, and went away only to come back. Then I discovered the ground of the controll modual was the problem. I took off the grounds on both the tcm and battery, and ground off the paint. I put nolox on it and put it back together and reflashed the tcm. No issues now. I think the poor ground connection is the issue.

I bought a used 2012 Focus back in 2014. Traded it in for a 2013 Corolla one year later. I just couldn't handle the transmission. But, what you said about the handling was spot on. The car handled fantastically and the interior was amazingly roomy.

I have a 2012 sel 2.0L DCT made in michigan with 120k miles, Ford changed the TCM at about 80k miles. Before that it had the akward shifting until the tcm overload from mykey limitations as a prank and my gf kept flooring it and got stuck. Before the replacement and reprogram was a totally new car, shifts great and never got new problems. Best value for the dolar here in Chile. I buy it at 70kmiles for about $5000 dolars in early 2020. Love your channel Scotty, best regards!

we have a '17 model, the reason ours is still good is probably because we live in the country and have very little stop and go driving, if you baby it, or floorboard it, it does fine, but certain situations it does the chattering that everyone talks about. we have 125k on it and it's still driving the same as it ever did, it's been a good reliable car. we even have a trailer we use with it to haul everything from riding mowers and motorcycles, and been on many long trips with the 4 x 8 trailer loaded down to almost taking all the travel out of the trailer's suspension and cruising at highway speeds and it just keeps on truckin. over the years we have had a lot of vehicles that were worn out at this amount of miles but this little car shows no signs of dying on us so far

Scotty, most of those DPS6 issues was the TCM with broken solder connections.Another trick, you can swap those TCM's as long as they come off the same year salvage and no programming required.I have fixed a many of them, and still do all the time!

Here in the UK the Focus is a very popular car, it handles well and is both pokey and economical. The main difference is that the UK much prefer manual (stick) transmission. We don't encounter the problem Scotty is describing. A new clutch fitted can be done for circa £1000 <>.
