The biggest problem is, it's incredibly discouraging for new creators when they make a level just for it to never get any attention in favor of already established creators
Think of it this way though, already established creators have the following and credibility so inherently they will get more attention. This means that new creators will have to put a lot of effort into getting lots of eyes on them. That’s something not exclusive to the GD community but any creative field and it’s totally valid.

@@narayasuiryoku1397 No one can deny it’s self-inflicted “busy-ness”. He chooses not to let levels be rated by even Elder Mods, and he is dealing with the consequences of that choice. I’m not telling him to change his mind, but I am saying he shouldn’t be allowed to use it as a defense.
I remember sending a level to Kingtony's stream 4 years ago to get opinions, I wasn't even there for a potential send I just wanted othres to play it. What ended up happening is that he despised the level so much he just started blasting it to the deepest part of hell without saying something actually constructive. His chat then also bullied the level and me for my incompetence in the editor. Let's just say my first attempt at serious decoration also became my last attempt, which is why I only ever make layouts and never send them anywhere. I also believe the rate system also has problems with who can send levels, as 2 completely different people can have very different opinions on a level. Getting any rates or levels that have the slighest chance of a rate is a complete lottery and I will stand by that until the day I die
I also remember sending one of my levels and it got blasted by the youtuber’s voice chat (however that youtuber wasn’t a mod, and he was very nice, kind, and considerate, just saying to tone down the glow) but my situation is nowhere near as bad as yours and I didn’t let it get to me much. That was like 4-5 years ago I think.
Sad you had to go through that even if it was 4 years ago. And if I’m not mistaken Kingtony is a mod and mods are supposed to be nice and helping the community.
The rating system is horrible. I have 3 extreme demons that have been sent for features and rates multiple times (one of them even 8 times) and yet rob is just not rating them, which honestly sucks because I put so much work into these levels and my goal is to create enjoyable extremes for the community but they just get overlooked by an RNG system. I have gotten lucky in the past as I do have 2 rated extremes, but they are not as good as my current levels. I do agree that we should give more power to mods when it comes to rating, great video :)
I'm almost in the exact same situation with 3 levels (1 extreme, 1 insane demon, and an 8 star) have been sent a total of like 20 times but robtop never rates me
I made a level 5 months ago that got sent 3 times. The first time, it got buried in the sent tab before robtop rated anything that day. The second time, it was at the top when robtop rated levels but he skipped mine and a few others next to mine. The third time, it got sent for a feature but robtop didn’t even check the sent tab that day. He just rated levels made by famous creators and then my level got buried and not even checked when it was in the perfect place to be noticed. It is still not rated today
2.2 attracted so many new creators that it is not feasible for Rob to be rating levels all by himself. He needs to allow a select few elder mods to at least assist in rating levels, it’s why so many bangers are being missed like Elbus by TeamOmega
True, the rate system is garbage. I’ve gotten 5 mod sends and no rate because my level didn’t show up in the sent tab. Annoying after pouring in my heart and soul and over 100 hours into my level.
@@furr63 I don’t even necessarily have a problem with unoriginal or “bad” levels getting rated. I just believe that if you get so many sends your level should at the very least, get exposure from those mod sends. Otherwise, it’s just not fair to smaller creators. The 2.1 system literally handled exposure better than the current one. Back then, even if you didn’t get rated, you’d know that many people could still enjoy your level. Now, it’s simply just not the case. If you don’t get rated by the first send, you’re just screwed.
@@teamok1025 the level I’m talking about is called “Nyan Cats Return.” It has 4 mod sends for feature and 1 send for rate so far. There’s an outdated video of it on my channel, but the current version on GD is much better.
The rate system is based off of robtop`s opinion and that sucks. There is a pretty good chance he wont change it though because he doesnt trust the community with rating levels.
thats kinda the point, a level getting a rate is how much ROBTOP likes the level, not how much everyone ELSE likes the level (except for some rare cases like tidal wave)
The ufo should be unlocked a different way. Its the ufo i like the most but i am not spending 200 hours making a bunch of levels that have a small chance to be rated@@Icosa_sin
Finally someone is talking about this games rating system. They’re are so many rated levels that I know if I made they would never get rated (Like time shell by adiale or map by twigxcabaret)
i'm sorry but i really don't like the "if i made this level it wouldn't get rated" argument. while it holds a slight amount of truth it shouldn't be used to critique the levels themselves. wish people would just enjoy levels for what they are rather than what they wish they were regardless of the rating. the rate system is definitely flawed, but it is certainly not the creators' faults.
@@Crysticai the point of the statement isnt to shit on the levels or the creators. its to point out an inherit bias in the rating system, where levels made by more popular or well known creators are treated more leniently and not held to as high a standard as those made by creators who are less established
@@CutTheVioletWire i guess it kinda did come off as saying that against the original comment but it was more toward that statement as a whole bc i've seen it thrown around so much as a justification for not liking a level
i agree the rating system is flawed but it doesn’t show bias to popular creators. it is true that levels made by more popular creators get rated more but that’s because a mod is far more likely to see levels by already well established creators. this still makes it difficult to get your level rated as an unknown creator but i can’t see any reason why a moderator would show a bias.
It's hard to brlive that the 2.1 demon rate system was more democratic than the rate system itself. Back then multiple mods had to vote on a rate or nah for a demon to get rated
I have some ideas for what a better rate system could look like and I feel like sharing them real quick! First of all, elder moderaters should be able to give star ratings to level. They are trusted, robtop doesn't have to spend time rating, levels will get rated much faster, and levels that robtop just "doesn't like" will get rated if they are good. BUT only robtop can decide legendary and godly ratings (the elder mods send) which I think is pretty fair. Regular moderators send Star-rate/feature/epic to elder mods (maybe elder mods can filter by most sends and recent sends) To make sure almost all rate-worthy levels get rated regular users send levels to regular moderaters BUT they have to have beaten 100 user levels (to reduce bots and make sure they know atleast a little about the games) Mods can also filter by most sends (for sending to elder mods) and players have 3 warnings before getting banned from sending levels to regular mods I think these changes would completely fix the rating system! What do you guys think? Are there any major flaws?
If Rob didn't specifically want to give Elder Moderators the ability to rate levels, he could create a new "tier" of moderators called "Rate Moderators" or something that have the ability to rate levels, and only give it to like Viprin or others.
this is straight up why i dont even make levels for cp anymore. its just something i find fun and back then i'd treat cp as just "bonus points" but now its just a matter of coin flips and dice rolls to see how well you'll be seen by the community
Creator points is something that makes creating levels more encouraging since it creates a goal for you. I used to create for creator points and mass producing levels that looked kind of the same but different colors. Then I wanted my levels to have more uniqueness in them so I started putting more effort and building less for creator points and more for fun.
And even if you do win the coin flip it can take a lot of time, my first and only rate took more than half a year to get rated after around 11-13 sends and got featured (even though lots of people were saying it got robbed of epic) Rob said he would revamp the rating system and I really hope it becomes way less luck based when he does
ngl, the way the rate system has changed and evolved for the past 10 years I've played this game so far made me not even want to make an attempt at making a level at this point lol but the thing that actually makes it worse is that they're achievements, and they're considered one of the hardest ones to obtain, so they're *REQUIRED* if you want to obtain all of the achievements one of the things I did notice however is that when 2.1 was released, it felt as if the mods new that creators would be in entirely new territory, so they got extremely lenient with the rating system, but I think since 2.2 had more known features they chose not to do so this time
As an achievement grinder, the required rate and 1000 likes feels so frustrating, like i could get thousands of stars or moons but i won’t likely get all achievements because of a weird lottery system.
As a creator I heavily agree to this, im having trouble getting my (people say legendary worthy) level rated, even though more than 7 mods send it for epic or more. It’s unfair and mods should do ratings too, instead of sending only. There whould be less stupid decisions too
The only problem I have with "Mods should also rate levels" is that: They can rate each others levels even if they're super bad, so RobTop has to verify each rate (worse than current system on time). If RobTop disallow this behavior, then how can mods get creator points? To me it's getting kinda paradoxal. 🤔
@@Latyoki if that type of stuff happens, then other mods should take responsibility to unrate that lvl if needed, still whould the system be so much better than now
My level "Apeirophobia" appeared on the sent tab TWICE. Got an EVW and Nexus video upload, got sent by like 12+ mods and it still isn't rated. It's not even a question of if it's rate worthy or not cus it got several legendary and mythic sends. Sucks I got robbed from a rate simply because Rob never found it or because he saw it, decided not to rate without providing a reason. If it's the former then I think Rob seriously needs to change the priority of levels that get sent on the sent tab. He should be able to sort them based on popularity, how highly rated it is based on download/like ratio, and how many mods sent it. That way those levels that took a lot of effort to make and got traction don't get swept under the rug in the sent tab.
There are a lot of ways the rate system could be fixed. I see three possible solutions: 1. Rob hands the power of rating to either Elder Mods or a select few people he deems fit. There are a lot of Elder Mods who could work together to rate tons of levels and a majority of the elder mods know a lot about creating. If Rob doesn't want to hand the power off to that many people, then okay, just give the power to the most trusted of Rob's mods such as ViPriN and AutoNick. He already has them helping out with so many things in both the community and the game, so the two of them make sense. 2. Rob still is the only person who has the ability to rate levels, BUT does not have control of what amount of creator points is gives (EX: Feature, Epic, etc.) This power is given to either the mod team to decide OR the community. I would be more in favor of the community having this, as it could be implemented as sort of an add on to giving levels a difficulty rating. When the level is rated, a button in the bottom right hand corner could decide what the player thinks is the correct amount of creator points. 3. Less of a solution and more of a compromise would be Rob adding a community rates system (This idea was brought up on twitter a while ago.) This could be in an instance where the community really badly wants a level rated but due to either Rob not liking the level (EX. Wcropolix, Graceful, Diabolic Clubstep) or the level is too mature or bloody (EX: red rooms, world war, Peaceful) the level can be assigned a community rate, which instead of giving stars would give a new collectible. If Rob doesn't want to add a new collectible for these community rates then at least diamonds like with lists cause otherwise its pointless. The community rate, regardless of what the community or Rob thinks of it, should still give 1 creator point to give the creator something out of this. There's probably other solutions, but these are the ones that I think make the most sense.
a rate gives 1cp, feat gives 2cp, epic gives 3cp, legendary should give 4cp but rob forgot to code and same with mythic giving 5cp but rob forgot to code, also whats special is that rob rates it
@@rabbitguy Just because there isn’t a solution where everyone is happy doesn’t mean we should be avoiding solutions that would make more people happy. None of my solutions are perfect, because a perfect solution is impossible.
This video motivated me a little bit ngl. I still dont have any rated levels yet. but while building my first decorated levels "Ruby Blade" and "Powerplay" I knew they will never get rated from very first block i placed. But i still wanted to do it bcoz it was making me feel good ;). Very good video man thanks for uploading this
Thank you for covering this. My levels for over a year have been each getting around 7 sends with still none of them getting rated. Finally on 2.2 release date I got my first rate and have also received one more since then. Rn my level is #1 unrated in trending and around 5 sends. Hoping it gets rated but we will see.
I have been affected by this system I have 2 amazing demon levels that have yet to be rated yet were sent multiple times by mods, one of them has a double digit amount Yet months have passed for both, and no rate I want the system to change badly
Keep in mind your first rate will be the hardest to achieve, and demons usually takes longer time to get rated. Aiming for a demon rate as a first rate isn’t a very good idea imo.
@@thebunGDthe system is even worse than it used to be. The proportion of levels that are getting ignored after being sent is only increasing and it honestly feels like there is better chances for demons at this point
the solution would be if rob told all mods that they should send levels based on HIS standards, not THEIR standards, which currently creates a huge disparity, with 1.0 levels getting rated and other mods not sending levels with actual effort. the result: the community gets angry about shit like starfall getting rated although better levels arent rated. keep in mind HALF the mod team basicly said TIDAL WAVE isnt RATEWORTHY, but theres mods who send 1.0-1.9 levels on a regular basis. this is poison for the creating community
Back in second grade, I got the full version of geometry dash, it was late 2014, I had been playing for quite awhile before I knew there was a full version so I was playing the lite version. I didn’t have an account back then till a couple years later and that account is at least 7-8 years old. I have a new account on my computer but that ones like 4 years old. What Im trying to say is that I’ve been playing the game for damn near 10 years, and I still haven’t gotten a level rated, and a lot of the time it’s because I’ll make something I might be proud of for a day, and then the next day I will hate it because even if I make the greatest piece of art, I don’t have connections and mods to send my level. Because of that I still make sub par decoration because I feel like there is no hope for me. And that sucks a lot because I love making layouts and structures. but once I get to the decoration part, all the love I had for the layout leaves and I start a new layout. I’ve done this several times and I just want my levels to be finished for once, but I always feel like even if I do finish it, all that hard work will just mean nothing in the end.
I personally think Robtop should let mods rate levels that are just rate (no feature)up front without him having to approve. This would allow feature-worthy+ levels to get seen faster.
I think that was because it was one of the first pixel arts in geometry dash. Updates definitely matter in what gets rated, if that level was posted in 2.11, the mods would laugh it out the room.
I want to start creating in geometry dash but everytime i finish a level i look at other levels and i am immediately discouraged since my level looks so bad compared to them… And its extremely hard to get noticed
i definitely would say there’s a problem with the rating system, for my side of a story, i got a 1.0 level rated in 2.2 it’s called starfall and it was basically a level to showcase a custom gravity portal i did a few weeks ago, i didn’t expect much of it and was just made to show on youtube. until it got sent, then 2 days later, rated instantly. i was happy because it’s my first ever cp but everyone hated it and i saw why, it wasn’t deserving at ALL. not sure why it was accepted for a send in the first place 😭
tbh, Rob should give mods the power to rate levels. Maybe a system that you need like 3 mods recommending your level for featured for the level to receive featured, and like 5 mods recommending a level to get rated epic for the level to receive that rating. Keep mythic and legendary rating for Robtop, when moderators recommend levels to get these ratings.
Peak solution : calm down the ego and give power to mods, if they are mods they know what to do, establish clear rules to make sure they don't mess up and voilà no more problems. No more.
The rate system is a slot machine, and it is inherently biased towards popular creators. Over the years, I personally have spent many hours in level request Discords and streams just for my levels to get ignored and forgotten. One time I waited nearly 6 hours for GD mod Arb to play my hard difficulty level just for him to exit out after playing for less than a minute. His advice? "Just make more levels." All while glazing xo multiple times. To add insult to injury, several levels by popular creators that took less than an hour build got rated that same week.
@@thebunGD Brother, I have years of practice and effort. My works were decent for the time, but they were largely ignored for years. Last year I again tried reaching out to various moderators. It took many hours of queueing to even get my levels played, and of the four mods that played my levels, two of them sent despite my levels being judged to todays standards. As it turns out, these efforts were in vain because Robtop never saw them. My only options are to either continue queueing for endless hours hoping Rob eventually sees my levels, or to spend weeks creating an entirely new, modernized level and to queue for even more hours for the chance(!) to get seen. Is the solution really even more practice and effort when I know my levels are rate-worthy? To further put matters into perspective, I play dozens of rated levels every week. You would not believe some of the junk that I have played. Creators like Split can spend less than 2 hours in the editor, churn out absolute junk, and it still gets rated. Meanwhile, some of the most original works that I have ever played in this game were only star rated. This discrepancy exists because the mod team has inconsistent standards, judge to their own preferences, and because mods are biased towards established creators. This is a real thing that happens and I wish people would stop deny this. I know this is a long comment, especially compared to your reply, but I have years of pent-up frustration, and being responded to with this, with all due respect, Chat-GPT level response doesn't sit well with me. Regardless, if you made it this far into my rant, I hope you have a good day.
@@Frxzt Okay you sure put effort but the first rate will always be the hardest to achieve. Multiple sends is usually needed. The reason why Split72 gets so much rates is because it's a well known creator. I really do agree that originality should be taken more into consideration but there is unfortunately nothing we can do about it. Generic modern will be the relevant style for who knows how long. Just keep try sending your levels to moderators and hope for the best ig. Good luck!
Another problem with the current state of creating is that there's so many levels, that even if you were to rate all the rate worthy one, chances are no one will be seeing it anyways. I think Robtop himself said he doesn't want to rate too many levels every day, because it'd simply be too many rated levels at once.
Yeah the rate system is horrendously biased. Krmal posted a garbage layout (conical depression) and that gets rated, but actually good levels somehow won’t get rated because it’s not “good enough”
I think Rob should give mods or at the very least elder mods the ability too rate and feature levels Robtop can give epic, legendary and mythic rates But elder mods can give rates and features And normal mods can continue to send levels to the elder mods and robtop I also think rob should create rules and standards so that rates and features are less subjective
Tbh i would recommend them to create a rating mod team, so Robtop can just freely continue his work on updating the game while them rating levels (including daily or weekly). This also can make them share their opinions whether it's worth to rate a level since everyone has their own taste and hopefully zero bias. Yet every person NEEDS to be trustworthy enough.
Great video! I want to point out that there are hundreds of levels rated before 2.2 that have only epic ratings, while some recent levels, while still being amazing, have gotten legendary or higher. I think RobTop needs to go back and give some of the levels made before 2.2, like sedulous by Samifying, B by Motleyorc & ScorchVx to name a few, a better rating (if they deserve it).
@@elylove267 Castlevania pushed the boundaries of 2.1 with the multiple pathing and WHAT and HOW are in the same vein. Spu7nix pushed the 2.1 editor in ways no one had done before. Also, Edge of Destiny looks amazing, I can't say about the gameplay, but it definitely deserves a legendary for the decoration alone.
@nightytimealt First of all, you pissed me off by saying that those levels don't deserve legendary, but they are your opinions. L take, but your opinions nonetheless. Also, it's Robtop's game; if he doesn't want to change the ratings, it's up to him. However, he has given some 2.2 levels legendary and even mythic ratings, when there are a lot of 2.1 levels that are way better than the ones currently being rated in 2.2. Those levels deserve better.
@nightytimealt In my opinion it is because it looks so damn good and still is super optimized which is really impressive. The concept and everything with it is great. Idk why you think it’s overrated.
Another thing I think is important to keep in mind is that it might feel very unfair and demotivating to see something getting rated just because Rob happens to personally like the level or it's creator but at the end at the day the only thing that level is taking away from others is a small amount of Rob's time. Too much complaining might even lead to Rob raising his standards for rating a level. The much bigger problem in my opinion is that not enough good levels are rated, not that there might be a few too much.
What if regular mods can rate and send potential features to elder mods, elder mods can feature and send potential epics, legendaries, and mythical to Robtop, and Rob can assign epics, legendaries, and mythics?
ive been playing gd for years now and i typically make demons and honestly it really annoys me how if any of my levels were the exact same but just yknow, not a demon, they would probably be rated or even featured.
i've been saying this for years: at the very least elder mods should be able to rate levels. the problem isn't with undeserving levels getting rated, we just need to have more scope in the levels that even get a chance. rob is only one guy, and in 99% of cases a level getting robbed of a rate is just because he didn't see it. plus, there would be a much more diverse array of tastes than just robtop's, which filters out some levels a lot of people like (i.e. tidal wave)
Bro I have a 5 min xl travel level 90% of people said should get epic and 2 other levels everybody said should get rated and I think it’s stupid because I can’t get any mods to look at it. :(
i created like 3 levels, including a platformer with decent-enough looking decorations but messy (you can check in my videos to confirm), i really put all my efforts and also inspired by other creators like WOOGI, Metalface,... then i submitted to the mods and guess what? "overdecorated","lacks deco"/... and even more negative feedbacks. I thought the rating standard was so high or i didn't put enough of my efforts on it but then i saw levels that have worse decorations than mine got rated and i really got pissed off, i still am aware of what in my decorations or gameplay lacking and improved one by one. But then my motivation got demolished (from what i just said earlier), oh and the platformer i made got sent to Rob (thanks to that one moderator) but got ignored or doesn't seem worthy enough to rate. So, my sole plan is if my next level doesn't get rated, it will be the last one. TO SUMMARIZE: i got demotivated by the rating system so i just want to make a last level then quit although i had fun enjoying some of my decoration ideas. But oh well, "it is what it is".
If you don't already have creator points, getting one send is usually not enough for it to get rated. Your first rate will be the hardest to get. Keep improving!
What I really hate about the rating system is the standards, it's like you have to be a professional artist just to get two creator points. no one rlly knows what's good or bad and it makes it worse bc robtop decides. elder mods or a select few people should get a say too, not only to ease the work of RobTop but also to potentially have rating standards lowered. Another thing I rlly want implemented is set standards. A level for each type of rate (star, featured, etc) so that the mods' and robtop's decisions are less biased
In my opinion, the rating system should be based off key points to a level. going from most important to a little less. Theme, gameplay, decoration, song choice, and creativity. Also the mod team should vote for a level to be rated and use rob as a tie breaker
i feel like rate system overall is just unnecessary and people give it too much credit, making levels to appeal to the developer is just something that you shouldnt need to do. im not that much of a creator myself but i dont make levels to appeal to other people, i make them for myself (or try to) and make them the best they can be in my eyes. i feel like alot of rated levels feel so hollow because they try to do what appeals to most instead of doing something that appeals to the creator themselves, hence why there are so many people complaining about "bad gameplay" and "generic deco". those things get rewarded with a rate and they dont need that much effort to create so they create those things instead of things they actually want to play themselves or like watching hence why those levels are considered widely bad the really sad thing with this is that if your level gets unrated itll (most likely) be forgotten and never been talked about. personally i dont really care about rates but if i see a level that i see value in being overshadowed and forgotten its just saddening. while i personally think ppl should stop caring abt rates as much as they do, its still a very big part of the game and unfortunately i dont think theres a solution to the problem with the current rate system and i personally think it generates unnecessary hatred and negativity i think we should improve the tools to find levels in game, so everyone can find levels they like despite if its rated or not; i think thatd be healthy for the overall game and people will be able to find levels they enjoy and want to play.
honestly I wish that could happen, just too much of a hole has been dug at this point. I do hope by some miracle we get at least an improvement on the system though to at least compromise somewhat ://
I feel like after 2.2 came out, anyone who had still been trying to get their level sent and possibly rated (me included) just got overshadowed completely. With rob having to rate hundreds of platformer levels and new 2.2 levels, it felt like rob completely stopped rating 2.1 levels. Also, the sent tab is kind of broken, as even though my level was sent 7 times, it only appeared on the tab 3 times. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but it is kind of a downer to see a level of yours get sent by a streamer just for it to not even show up on the sent tab.
imo we as a community should care less about the rating system and play more levels just for fun rather than to get the rewards for beating rated levels. The levels you find while watching random level/layout showcase videos with merely a couple hundred/thousand views are often some of the most fun and unique out there.
I'd say it's outdated. 10 years ago it worked because of smaller playerbase. Many good levels are unrated for seemingly no reason. Very unthankful system.
We dont need to complain about a level not getting rated. We need to complain about how robtop manages it and that it needs to change. I honestly find it good that Rubrub also rates layouts because it gives new creators a chance to
Ive gon 7 years playing and Ive gotten absolutely nothing. No sends, no rates, nothing. No matter my efforts, I get absolutely nothing. I dont find this game fun to play anymore since its impossible to get a rate in this game. I'm not even a new player and I cant even fathom how they feel.
As someone who's beaten one of the top 10 hardest unrated levels, I can say I'm upset that it's not rated. However, that effort was not to waste, I still accomplished something I'm very proud of. It still would be nice to see it recognized in the future, it's a shame the system is the way it is.
I had to get 34 sends for a level of mine to get rated after 7 months. Back then I cared way too much about CP so any mod sending a level I thought was 'worse' imstead frustrated me. Since then I have 14 CP but that really doesn't mean much to me anymore. Building for fun is key and 3 of my levels even got denied by the demon system (presumingly). Regardless, I always hated the demon system for treating demon levels more harshly/ differently to non-demons as if the quality of the level was dependant on the difficulty somehow. I'm glad the system was abandoned so all difficulties are judged evenly again but I would be lying if I said the rating system is ideal. I really do wish elder mods had the power to rate levels just to have a wider spectrum of opinions for what is rate worthy
Imo since the rating system is just always going to be subjective the only real problem that can ever be fixed is the bottleneck of levels that prevents rob from seeing levels he WOULD have rated, so yeah allowing elder mods to rate levels could help w that But like even with elder mods being able to rate levels there are going to be levels that even they refuse to rate and people are going to disagree while some will agree and it is what it is in my book
I spent 2 months on a level for 2 likes. Im working on another project that has already taken a week, and the layout isn't finished, but after my last few projects, it's hard to find the motivation...
ideas: people sending thir levels to mods (kinda like how mods ssend their lvl to robtop), but it has to be more than idk 20 ppl who send your lvl and it would be customizable for each mod. (so no magic tab formula)
One of my favourite demons (We Care by wonduu) also had this problem I think. It's def feature worthy, but it's just a star rating. It's a 2.1 level btw and it was imi feature worthy for back then at least.
You did mention this, but I do want to stress it a bit more: RobTop can't play all levels that are sent. It would be not just impractical, but impossible. It isn't always Rob choosing not to rate a level, he might just have missed it or glossed over it.

No one can deny it’s self-inflicted “busy-ness”.
That was like 4-5 years ago I think.
damn sorry to hear that dude what was his problem
Also part of why i stopped trying, the mod team is so incredibly toxic and their community is too.
Sad you had to go through that even if it was 4 years ago. And if I’m not mistaken Kingtony is a mod and mods are supposed to be nice and helping the community.

8 years here, we will get a rate eventually, we just need to get a little bit of luck
8 years and I still haven’t gotten sent. Although in pretty confident my latest work, MONARCH, is definitely rate worthy (just star rate though)
Keep in mind demons are harder to get rated than normal rates

congregation jumpscares moment
i'm sorry but i really don't like the "if i made this level it wouldn't get rated" argument. while it holds a slight amount of truth it shouldn't be used to critique the levels themselves. wish people would just enjoy levels for what they are rather than what they wish they were regardless of the rating. the rate system is definitely flawed, but it is certainly not the creators' faults.
That system was so fucking stupid why did they do that 💀😭
I have some ideas for what a better rate system could look like and I feel like sharing them real quick!
Regular moderators send Star-rate/feature/epic to elder mods (maybe elder mods can filter by most sends and recent sends)
To make sure almost all rate-worthy levels get rated regular users send levels to regular moderaters BUT they have to have beaten 100 user levels (to reduce bots and make sure they know atleast a little about the games) Mods can also filter by most sends (for sending to elder mods) and players have 3 warnings before getting banned from sending levels to regular mods
I think these changes would completely fix the rating system!
Noway the creator of the second legendary level
Creator points is something that makes creating levels more encouraging since it creates a goal for you. I used to create for creator points and mass producing levels that looked kind of the same but different colors. Then I wanted my levels to have more uniqueness in them so I started putting more effort and building less for creator points and more for fun.
better to build your level for the feel than the standards. its just gotta be what you like
And even if you do win the coin flip it can take a lot of time, my first and only rate took more than half a year to get rated after around 11-13 sends and got featured (even though lots of people were saying it got robbed of epic)
Rob said he would revamp the rating system and I really hope it becomes way less luck based when he does
really wish this is bound to happen, wee wee took 1.5 years to get rated even with like around 20 sends
ngl, the way the rate system has changed and evolved for the past 10 years I've played this game so far made me not even want to make an attempt at making a level at this point lol
but the thing that actually makes it worse is that they're achievements, and they're considered one of the hardest ones to obtain, so they're *REQUIRED* if you want to obtain all of the achievements
one of the things I did notice however is that when 2.1 was released, it felt as if the mods new that creators would be in entirely new territory, so they got extremely lenient with the rating system, but I think since 2.2 had more known features they chose not to do so this time
As an achievement grinder, the required rate and 1000 likes feels so frustrating, like i could get thousands of stars or moons but i won’t likely get all achievements because of a weird lottery system.
As a creator I heavily agree to this, im having trouble getting my (people say legendary worthy) level rated, even though more than 7 mods send it for epic or more. It’s unfair and mods should do ratings too, instead of sending only. There whould be less stupid decisions too
What’s the level? I’m a creator so I could say my opinion if it really is legendary worthy.
Or actually if 7 mods sent for epic or higher you don’t really need my opinion but I would still like to play it
@@thebunGD just search up my username gdbobplop
The only problem I have with "Mods should also rate levels" is that:
They can rate each others levels even if they're super bad, so RobTop has to verify each rate (worse than current system on time).
Zamn, is it good atleast?
There are a lot of ways the rate system could be fixed. I see three possible solutions:
There's probably other solutions, but these are the ones that I think make the most sense.
a rate gives 1cp, feat gives 2cp, epic gives 3cp, legendary should give 4cp but rob forgot to code and same with mythic giving 5cp but rob forgot to code, also whats special is that rob rates it
All of these solutions suck because people would still find reasons to complain no matter what. There is no solution where everyone is happy
@@rabbitguy Just because there isn’t a solution where everyone is happy doesn’t mean we should be avoiding solutions that would make more people happy. None of my solutions are perfect, because a perfect solution is impossible.
The fact that only one person chooses whether thousands of levels get rated or not is crazy.

the solution would be if rob told all mods that they should send levels based on HIS standards, not THEIR standards, which currently creates a huge disparity, with 1.0 levels getting rated and other mods not sending levels with actual effort. the result: the community gets angry about shit like starfall getting rated although better levels arent rated. keep in mind HALF the mod team basicly said TIDAL WAVE isnt RATEWORTHY, but theres mods who send 1.0-1.9 levels on a regular basis. this is poison for the creating community

I love your editing style, it's not overwhelming and overstimulating and it's not bland or boring. It's literally perfect.
I personally think Robtop should let mods rate levels that are just rate (no feature)up front without him having to approve. This would allow feature-worthy+ levels to get seen faster.
Dont Even get me started on YOU'VE BEEN TROLLED
I think that was because it was one of the first pixel arts in geometry dash.

Good video, it motivated me to continue working on my level!
It really sucks, underrated creators are unnoticed. And Creators like split make empty levels with same GP and it always gets rated.
tbh, Rob should give mods the power to rate levels.
No more.
The system is laughably flawed when you compare a better featured level to a worse epic rated level.
Getting a rated level is supposed to take a lot of practice and effort.
Good luck!

I think RobTop needs to go back and give some of the levels made before 2.2, like sedulous by Samifying, B by Motleyorc & ScorchVx to name a few, a better rating (if they deserve it).
@nightytimealt how about white space, edge of destiny, castlemania, WHAT, HOW? Are there any of them deserve legendary?

Change of scene
One man for it all.

TO SUMMARIZE: i got demotivated by the rating system so i just want to make a last level then quit although i had fun enjoying some of my decoration ideas. But oh well, "it is what it is".
oh and i forgot the fact that not just with the moderators, but EVEN Robtop himself is also biased too
If you don't already have creator points, getting one send is usually not enough for it to get rated.
Also the mod team should vote for a level to be rated and use rob as a tie breaker
i feel like rate system overall is just unnecessary and people give it too much credit, making levels to appeal to the developer is just something that you shouldnt need to do. im not that much of a creator myself but i dont make levels to appeal to other people, i make them for myself (or try to) and make them the best they can be in my eyes.
i feel like alot of rated levels feel so hollow because they try to do what appeals to most instead of doing something that appeals to the creator themselves, hence why there are so many people complaining about "bad gameplay" and "generic deco". those things get rewarded with a rate and they dont need that much effort to create so they create those things instead of things they actually want to play themselves or like watching hence why those levels are considered widely bad
the really sad thing with this is that if your level gets unrated itll (most likely) be forgotten and never been talked about. personally i dont really care about rates but if i see a level that i see value in being overshadowed and forgotten its just saddening. while i personally think ppl should stop caring abt rates as much as they do, its still a very big part of the game and unfortunately i dont think theres a solution to the problem with the current rate system and i personally think it generates unnecessary hatred and negativity
i think we should improve the tools to find levels in game, so everyone can find levels they like despite if its rated or not; i think thatd be healthy for the overall game and people will be able to find levels they enjoy and want to play.
honestly I wish that could happen, just too much of a hole has been dug at this point.
It’s a bug. Robtop can still see your level!
@aidenchico3961 FACTS, it got so much worse after 2.2, I absolutely hate it
5:34 my favorite part about the topic
imo we as a community should care less about the rating system and play more levels just for fun rather than to get the rewards for beating rated levels.
I've always maintained that at LEAST elder mods should have the ability to rate.
We dont need to complain about a level not getting rated. We need to complain about how robtop manages it and that it needs to change. I honestly find it good that Rubrub also rates layouts because it gives new creators a chance to
Let Viprin and Nexus rate levels 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Why Nexus? He isn’t even elder mod
A clear example of this is "Underworld" by hfcRed, I felt so bad to know it wasn't epic...
That ending is EXACTLY what I think people should be doing.
Creating is more about actually creating the level. A rate is just a bonus.
Imo since the rating system is just always going to be subjective the only real problem that can ever be fixed is the bottleneck of levels that prevents rob from seeing levels he WOULD have rated, so yeah allowing elder mods to rate levels could help w that
But like even with elder mods being able to rate levels there are going to be levels that even they refuse to rate and people are going to disagree while some will agree and it is what it is in my book
I think good solution would be to make rating system work same as it is but when level is sent by at least 3 mods it gets autoamticly rated
I spent 2 months on a level for 2 likes.
Im working on another project that has already taken a week, and the layout isn't finished, but after my last few projects, it's hard to find the motivation...
This sucks, I had some good levels, maybe not rate worthy but really good, and I get 4 likes meanwhile some people like Krmal just get layouts rated
ideas: people sending thir levels to mods (kinda like how mods ssend their lvl to robtop), but it has to be more than idk 20 ppl who send your lvl and it would be customizable for each mod. (so no magic tab formula)
One of my favourite demons (We Care by wonduu) also had this problem I think. It's def feature worthy, but it's just a star rating. It's a 2.1 level btw and it was imi feature worthy for back then at least.
I think the sent level list that RobTop has should be ordered from oldest to newest sents.
I feel the main issue is the skill gap for a rate
It’s supposed to be hard to achieve it
9 unrated levels , 5 sends each , no rate
9 years and no cp. my 1 level i managed to finish just swept under the rug
I love how he showed his own level as rating bias in the thumbnail
Ngl would be cool to have like when a number x of moderators send the level would be automatically rated or smth like that
You did mention this, but I do want to stress it a bit more: RobTop can't play all levels that are sent. It would be not just impractical, but impossible. It isn't always Rob choosing not to rate a level, he might just have missed it or glossed over it.
Cherry Team: Let's remake Tidal Wave.
Me: F#ck you, Woodkid deserves a remake more.
I know so many amazing levels that just seem to go unrated as they arnt popular enough :(
I have make so cool levels and nobody play it because the algorithm in geometry dash is BAD
1:00 tidal wave was not a mainstream hit it was super controversial lmao
