Have you considered playing Cyclops? Having a turn one Field Commander from Spirit of Wakanda, could be good. Having a trigger push and flurry on a builder is pretty good. I would also consider Medusa as a good splash as well.
I agree that his character is pretty crazy, his leadership is pretty lackluster. I hear that some folks take him in their Wakanda roster along with black panther to cover various scenarios. I have seen Sam Wilson in existing Wakanda lists I think he'd be even better under this Panther.
Since leadership isn’t decided until the first turn I suppose if you’re running lots of lamp posts and red lights as are shipped in the starter boxes the leadership can be okay. Personally I’m always taking M Baku’s leadership every time without question.
I think there is an awful lot of handwringing over the leadership. I look at it as more of an extra thing that can help out and give me some extra options, as opposed to something I have to take. I'm not warping an entire list around this one mechanic, there are a lot more important parts to playing Wakanda other than the what leadership you take. I feel like all of the Wakanda leaderships are just extra things and not really affiliation defining. Which I like, since the leaderships are nice to haves and not required to take it gives me a better feeling to play different leaderships at different times instead of feeling locked into playing "the most powerful one".

Would the leadership be busted if it also dealt damage when you get pushed into another character?
