- Defense is just as much about strategy, skill, and technique as offense is. That may be an unpopular opinion, but it's what I've learned in years of coaching. And this takes experience, film study, and much much more to develop!! Shoutout to my guys at Elite Athletes in Antwerp, Belgium for the hospitality.

Really love these defensive breakdowns. They also helped me improve as a lacrosse defender as well so thank you
Never would’ve thought
Lacrosse?
@@hinokami2913 Yeah, the sport has a lot of similarities to basketball and at the time there werent a lot of tutorials so I took the time to learn basketball defense then just adapted it.
Thanks for this defense breakdown!
Loved these drills!!!💯💯💯
Recently got back to bball at 42. Didn't want to embarrass myself during pick up games but wanted to contribute as much as I could. After hearing a lot of opinions, DEFENSE was the most recommended area to focus on. These videos are an absolute TREASURE. Really appreciate the depth and attention to detail. Thank you!
As someone who takes pride in my defense, initiating with footwork help anticipation with some predictability. Timing is also really important and I'm kind of hesitant to give it away for free but basically one with the ball is defending the ball, not the one trying to stop them from scoring.
My favourite workout you've dropped so far, thanks coach!
What are your biggest struggles on defense?? Or your biggest strengths?
Staying alert on off ball defense and cutting off the passing lanes (for example in the help of help)
Mines would be staying in front of my man. Im too inconsistent to become a plus defender. Also love your videos, they've helped me a lot with improving my overall game. Great work
My lateral quickness and overall footwork adaptability . What puts those 2 elements over the top is my ability to be 2 or even 3 steps ahead of the offensive player after picking on his spots and favorite counters as well as the timing of his dribble
I can confidently say that i'm him defensively
I'm usually the best perimeter defender on the court whenever I play but I wanna keep getting better on the offensive side. I do believe my weakness defensively is that I lack anticipation. I think I expend unnecessary energy moving my feet because I haven't figured out the most efficient angle to use when cutting ppl off. I think the reason i have this is cuz I haven't played a lot of team ball so just natural innate ball iq isn't on my side
kids don't care about defense anymore, just shooting 3s
I care about defense a ton!
@@Gedagdidgadogo not to many of your kind then
it’s like a 50/50 split, it’s pretty much the same with adults too though
You’re right, but I think that will change soon with NBA players constantly talking about how important defense is.
Man I wish I had a coach like you
great video.
I'm not a great explosive athlete so knowing angles to cut off the offense has always been a necessity. Love these types of workouts, but I think fundamentally cardio is the most important part lol.
thanks
See lots in common with your LDP!!!💪
Fasho!
great video
When doing this defensive workout .. what your recommendation for time and reps on each drill ?
with most wanting to score, having really good defense feels rare
Man I fcn love defense
I feel like these drills would be prefect to use offensively to help someone like Jordan Poole with his turnovers
Yeahhhh for sure!
I hate how many of these would be called blocking fouls in a game. Refs always let the offense control the games and go whereever they want.
The Glove thumbnail is super necessary!
A must!!
NO TENGO TALENTO EN BASKET ASÍ QUE ME VEO OBLIGADO A MEJORAR EN OTROS ASPECTOS COMO LA DEFENSA..BUENO PUES NO ES LO QUE QUERÍA PERO A DARLEEE!!!🏀💪🏼
Claro!!
Joerik filming everything in the background is hilarious
Hahahaha I would never waste my guy’s time like that 🤣 my guy Cam filmed it
Thank you coach! Am 6’6”, need a lil bit mofe
You’re 6’6. Just block everything
@@ry_an. 6'6 is short my guy, i need good defensive qualities... right?
@@toti259 6'6 is short for D1 and up lol, that's good size in most competition. The most important part is being a consistent athlete and schemer on D.
@@crablord7934 Crab Lord! thank you, I need more defensive schemes around my game. HELP!
