    We moved here one year ago from Nevada. Con: Hard to find a primary care doctor. May have to use a Certified Physicians Assistant for some medical specialist needs (Like Dermo and Gastro). Pro: You forget to mention the Trash Pandas baseball team and The Havocs hockey team. Between them and the Von Braun Center and the Mars Music Hall there is lots to do here. Good heart doctors here. I add a stent put in my heart 3 months after moving here. It went fine and I feel great.

    I lived in Huntsville from 1967 to 1975 and from1988 to1997. My son was born there graduated from UAH and lives there today. I remember miles and miles of cotton fields and very little traffic.

    Additional pros I see:
    1. Whataburger
    2. Buc-ee’s
    3. Hockey team.
    Additional cons:
    1. State income tax. Don’t have one now.

    I'm thinking about moving to Huntsville with my girlfriend. I am curious and not sure if you know the answer, but does the city look at other failing cities & perspiring cities to create a good ecosystem? I say failing because here in Portland (born and raised), I've seen their explosive growth and what happens when done incorrectly and if the city needs it I'd love to give them a report on this and the effects of a city in growing at the rate Huntsville is. And good cities like Salt Lake City Utah and its suburban areas. I've lived there for half a year and stuff that Texas, SF, and Portland does wrong, Utah does very well in terms of roads, infrastructure, etc.
    Just curious if you knew about these metrics and if the city is open about it or needs help, because if I move to Huntsville I'd for sure love to contribute to the city in any way I can.

    • @movetohuntsville

      Great question. The city has done a good job of preparing for the growth in population, but there are always hiccups along the way. So far, no major ones.

    Spring break ok. Huntsville is a place to live and go home its boring to me coming from the fourth largest city in the country but its safe and affordable. It’s not a good place for young singles most folks here are already married by 22. Its a nerdy town so expect lots of Introverts and honestly some very large funny looking people this is no fashion show either if your into fashion art ect keep looking but if your a home body or come from a boring town or you just dont need much to stay entertained you will love it

    Huntsville South Sider here. MORE CONS.
    What a stupid location for a Greyhound bus stop! Stranding people on the street in the middle of a neighborhood with no hotels, no bathrooms people left to pee and poop in the parking lot, with no water, no shelter, no shade, no connecting transits, no cabs, no city bus service, no nothing...what an awful stupid place to put a bus stop! Don't travel to Huntsville by bus! I heard they recently put in a porta potty. OOoo. That still doesn't address the shelter problem, or the water problem, or the connecting transit problems at all hours of the night, Or the fact that you are dropping vagrants who wander into our neighborhoods.
    Which brings me to my real point; Somebody in the city planning department has to be on drugs. They built a neighborhood and a High School, in the middle of a gator infested swamp? Maybe they should put the bus stop there! That would solve two problems at once. Just kidding.
    South Parkway looks so much like a roller coaster, that I actually wrote a song about it. It's called the Huntsville Roller Coaster. You should check it out. Its going to be a hit.
    I simply have to disagree about the people here being friendly. Upon moving here in 2007 I can't count how many "Bless your hearts" I received. I KNOW, "bless you heart" is not a compliment. I have lived south of I-10 most of my adult life, and I never in my entire life been treated like this. Veiled insults only makes the person using it look bad when the person being insulted knows exactly what you really mean. Well....A big "Bless YOUR Heart", to you to Huntsville!
    After retiring from years working in medical laboratories, and moving here, at 52 years old the only job I could find here, because your job market here sure isn't as great as you like to say it is,...
    In my short time working as a MECHANIC, (uhg), I simply can't count how many times I had to ask the vehicle owner, "could you please remove the gun from the floorboard of your car so I can work on it." This is just insanity. Huntsville is virtually filled with gun-nutz. The problem with driving around and having a gun just lying there unsecured in your drivers side floor board, is itself, a really big problem. But those same gun nutz are usually the same people who are driving like absolute lunatics on our highways here in Huntsville. So you can see why this situation is literally an accident waiting to happen. A whole lot of drivers here in Huntsville, drive like the highways are their own personal NASCAR race tracks. Swerving in and out of traffic at 90 miles and hour, and swerving 5- 6 lanes across, zoom, zoom, zoom, and with that gun just lying there in floor board, this is down right suicidal!
    Being in the military, I drove all over this country but, what y'all do here, the way you drive here? This is just stupid dangerous, and God help us if it snows. People who have never eaten a crumb of French toast, will kill each racing to the store to get milk, bread and eggs. Some of these drivers have probably never even seen snow before. The first rule is, SLOW DOWN! #2 No fast lane changing, #3 no slamming on the brakes at the last minute, and #4 no tail gating. And you know what the high irony of all this racing around for bread eggs and milk is? In an hour or two, the snow is gone, melted and back to normal! It's Just Mind Blowing.
    Huntsville has people from all over. Being from SW Michigan and 1 hour from the Chicago area, even at 90 miles an hour, at least those drivers stayed in their lanes! Bumper to bumper, and boogity boogity boogity. To put into NASCAR terms, Huntsville is like driving at Watkins Glen, and Chicago is like driving restrictor plates at Talladega, now isn't THAT ironic?
    And lastly, I just have to ask this one simple and very very obvious question;
    If Huntsville is so gosh darn great,
    WHY DO YOU NEED SO MANY GUNS?!

    • @cannotbeshaken7889
      @cannotbeshaken7889 7 месяцев назад

      You sound like such a snowflake. Wanting people to get murdered as their unable to protect themselves, all so you can feel more comfortable for the 5 seconds your around them. You have to ask someone to remove their gun from the vehicle. WOW!! What a heartache, do you think you can handle it? I know it must be such a torturous chore for you. How about just leave it where it's at, and stop being such a paranoid baby. No Gun has ever gone off on it's own. Guns are good, they save lives. If you carry a gun in your car, then your smart, and your doing your part to decrease the crime. Maybe that's why the crime is so low in Huntsville. Perhaps criminals rob and kill less because they know most people have a gun to protect themselves. Doey!!

    • @dark_gravity_edc
      @dark_gravity_edc 4 месяца назад

      I'll try to answer your ultimate question, but your brain isn't going to grasp it based on how you worded the question. People in Huntsville don't carry guns because they "need" them. They carry them because they can. It's really that simple.
