I love calling lower Alabama LA. I told my wife I was looking at listings in LA, she had a fit! No way she said! I told her about some great houses with really low property tax…in LA? She said…I said yes! In lower Alabama! Definitely refocused my attention to Alabama from staying in Florida.
Thank you! I'm moving to the Mobile area for work, from a whole 2900 miles away, from up north in BC, Canada. I'm going to lease an apartment to start off. What would be my best course of action for building credit in the US, so that I can purchase a home? I have a house in Canada right now, and an above average credit rating and am aware that it doesn't cross the border :(

Hi Jeff. Excellent video! So question for you. Im with a group of guys that’s looking to bring a semi- pro hockey team to a good sized city that has an available arena. Mobile is one of the places we are considering. Our understanding is that the civic center ice plant may need some work, but it use to be home to a hockey team (the mysticks). How do you think the city of mobile would receive a minor league hockey team in the present day? Being that you grew up in mobile and know the area as well as anyone could, do you think a semi pro hockey team could be successful there? Thanks Nick Jones

Jeff! Thank you SO much for the share on your Facebook page. Seems like a lot of people are pessimistic about the idea of a team in Mobile. We definitely get that bringing a minor league hockey team into any city is a gamble. The feed back I saw is very helpful. I’m gonna share these comments with my group. We have a lot more market research to do, but this is really helpful. There are plenty of teams in southern markets that do extremely well. Building and keeping a loyal fan base is the challenge. I may contact you down the road if discussions about Mobile increase!
I think your a nice guy Jeff very positive but Mobile isnt exactly all rainbows and sunshine I've lived here for the better half my life close to 33 years and in that time I've seen alot of talk about job creation they have jobs but there usually very difficult to land and what your left with is manual labor jobs our service sector jobs which pay very low Mobile needs to invest in vocational training more and offer internships our paid on the job training because college isn't exactly the best route for everyone
So does most everyone else unless they are criminals, hence what is going on at the TX border and sanctuary cities, something the state of AL does not want. The Trump signs everywhere are a dead giveaway.
One big con is storms, not to mention hurricanes and driving on the 98/10 parkway when it floods, which is every time it rains. Another is the growing population of alligators in every fresh water lake/pond/ditch these days. Anyone that is die hard liberal or woke entitled wont like Mobile or AL for that matter, Trump signs everywhere. Mobile and the area is most definitely not diverse, it is very conservative and not changing any time soon. Cost of living in Mobile area is on the high side, insurance is outrageous. Southern hospitality is given until someone gives attitude. AL native here 67 years, have family in the Mobile area. Seen people move to AL, then move away too many times to count. Lets be realistic.
@@GAURAV25855ifyHi, I'm African American and I'm a nurse who is from California and I'm looking to move to Mobile Alabama to buy a home . I love the fact that it does not snow there because living in California all of my life , I CAN NOT live in snow. I also love the low cost of the houses and the quiet slow pace environment. I do not care about the " first 48 " mess because I'm a law abiding citizen and I do not associate myself with such people so I'm at peace anywhere I am. I am however AFRAID of the term " red neck " that you used. I do not want to be harassed because of my skin color via crime, finances, employment opportunity etc. IM AFRAID OF THIS TYPE OF EVIL THAT REDNECKS DO. Please tell me that I'm wrong and will be ok but be honest as I will believe what you tell me. Being from California we here about how my people are treated back south but is it really true in 2024? 😢 Here in California we do not use the term " red necks" because its associated with evil and is a very bad thing and white people get very offended because it is to say that they are cruel and will hurt you because of your skin so I'm REALLY afraid of such people. I just want to work and buy a home and live in peace and hopefully meet nice people who i will know and enjoy for years to come ❣

Ahhh yes, mosquitos, and weather cons. You just forgot the biggest con: With a crime rate of 141 per one thousand residents, Mobile has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 7.
I've spoken with the police department and others in the city about this statistic, and this is actually not correct. The way the stats are calculated is the problem. The city has since updated to a more accurate reporting method, which will be reflective soon on an updated statistic.
Did I miss a Pro or Con? What should I add next time?

Alabama is a redneck state there are people who actually marry there first cousins down there. The houses are pretty much from the 1800’s.

It’s all about perspective! Ha ha
The good news is theres constitutional carry in mobile. Youll need it.
Diversity is a con, not a pro. Check the crime statistics.
Diversity does NOT equal high crime rates. It’s the corrupted policies and high wealth inequality that cause more crime.
Sadly, it’s still ultra conservative ALABAMA! Governor is a nut
