I'm not a local by birth but I've been here for 20 plus years and one of the major cons of this rapid growth that you're so fond of is the wildlife is suffering. I live on the edge of Madison and the new housing development just wiped out a good chunk of natural resources and because of that I have seen many many more animals on the side of the road that have been hit by cars. I understand growth is inevitable. And I also understand there are many places inside the city itself that can be revamped to accommodate this growth.
I'm thinking of moving there in 2022. My family lives throughout Florida but I don't wanna live in Florida. Plus coming from Arizona I need a break from a 110+ in the summer time. The Las time I visited Huntsville was like 2010 or so and I was passing through to Athens,Alabama. I visited Huntsville on a high school field trip back in 1986 or so. We visited the space museum. I definitely want to leave Atlanta. Atlanta has become very crowded and Huntsville is only three hours away.
Thinking about relocating to HSV, and we are actually visiting this weekend to check it out. The thing that concerns me is the technology people moving there--I would hate to see HSV turn into another Silicon Valley/Crazy California situation. I also don't like hearing that people in CA are buying investment property in HSV--they are driving up the prices; I have been watching this market for about a year, and there has been a pretty huge increase in how much a house costs in Huntsville/Madison.
Actually, it is not the investors who are driving up residential housing prices. Investors are actually having a hard time finding properties that fit their model because they're now competing with folks looking to buy and move in. Prices are driven up by the large number of transplants relocating here for work or school who outnumber the amount of available housing. Come on down! Hope you enjoy your visit.
In my experience, for the most part, investors are having trouble buying area residential properties outside of some of the "lower rent" parts of town because property owners simply won't sell to them. We resent blind phone calls, fishing mailers and the very idea of "outsiders" trying to profit off of our area. I hope your visit turned you on to some of the great people here and eased your mind. CHEERS! 🇱🇷
We moved to Huntsville two years ago and have been renting ever since. We are Alabama natives (Birmingham and Mobile) and frankly the house prices here are a joke. We’d never pay $350k for the old crummy houses we’ve seen on the market. And the nice new houses start in the $500k range when everyone familiar with Alabama real estate knows darn well those nicer homes were selling 3 years ago in the $300k - $400k range. So the transplants are basically falling for it. You can live elsewhere in Alabama and at least have the advantage of a tanking housing market. In Huntsville the local economy “might” be able to sustain these prices but even now it’s cooling off-although sellers are still smoking crack with their asking prices. If you want a nicer home, wait a couple years and move to Mobile. A lot of the transplants here are not sticking around. They come, rent for a while, give up on this frustrating housing market and then move somewhere else.

Thank you. Glad you found it helpful.
I need seven things to move there: does Huntsville have a Walmart Super center, chick fil-a, raising canes, a nice hospital that can handle advanced heart issues, a place to get a great burger, stock car track, and a nice Baptist church that uses the KJV, do you know if Huntsville has all these things?
Hey Roak that's a great list! I'm happy to report we have more than our share of Super Duper Walmart's, Chic Filets, hospitals, burger joints, a racetrack and a Baptist Church on every other corner ;o) We don't have a Raising Cane's yet but it's only a matter of time.
We have a top notch heart center here
@@movetohuntsville I know this may sound cheesy but what are the gas prices? Today at the pump almost $5😪
Lastly, what about property taxes? Sales tax and personal income tax? Thx for the information!👋
@@debbiepayne3925 nor cheesy at all. Last time I looked out average gas price was around $3 a gallon and our property taxes are the 49th lowest in the country. State taxes average around 5.9%.
Excelente video, realmente te felicito, cuentas con una genial pedagogía y de verdad toda la información me sirve mucho debido a que estoy en planes de inversión y me llama la atención Huntsville AL. Saludos desde Santiago de Chile.
Realtors are asking around 175.00 a sq.ft., regardless of the age of the house. New homes are 200+ a sq.ft.
Does it have an amusement park? A zoo? Museums? Street fairs?
Hi BC this is a great source of info on those things www.huntsville.org/rocket-city/
Are the summers long and humid like Dothan?
Yep, that's the weather pretty much throughout the southeast in the summer time. It gets dark around 8pm in the summer.
Also no airport with direct flights to most cities.
Alex that certainly used to be the case. There was a saying "If you go to hell you have to connect in Atlanta". However there are now direct flights to Denver, Chicago, Detroit, DC, Charleston, Atlanta, Birmingham, Orlando, Tampa, Dallas, and Houston.
A city with a metro area of maybe 400,000 is unlikely to be a hub. You can easily drive to the Nashville airport from Huntsville.
@@movetohuntsville Could you recommend decent property management company in Huntsville? Preferably owner/investor/property manager who has system in place? Thanks in advance!
@@alparun4571 you bet. Email Allison Cole at Astro Property Management. She handles my personal rentals. allison@revolved.com is her email. Their website is astropropertymanagement.com/
@@mjpottertx You're right. I don't think we'll ever have the population to be a hub. At least I hope not ;o) Nashville is 90 minutes north, Bham 90 minutes south.
I don't want a house in Huntsville, I just would like to buy the field to design my own house in a private place. But I don't know the city yet, can you help me showing me those places ?
Your a cool guy I have two daughters and four grandchildren
Hello! Thinking of moving there next year. Coming from southern CA, a city with different nationalities, I wonder if Huntsville is friendly to Asian descent, particularly southeast asian (brown skin). I have a soon-to-be college student, and a high schooler. So our priorities are good schools, and safe neighborhood with a touch of countryside where I can plant my own fruit-bearing trees, lol.
LOL we'll find you the perfect plot to plant your trees! We do a large, varied Asian community here.. You'd be welcomed!
@@movetohuntsville Hi Tim! I am also thinking about relocating from Mexico 🇲🇽, would it be possible to have a chat?
@@chingonator2012 email tim@revolved.com
Tim, we're moving to H from Phoenix next spring. Does it make sense to bring our refrigerator and washer/dryer there? Do sellers typically include these items?
Hi Bill. Typically, sellers take the washer, dryer and fridge with them. Only the built-in appliances remain. If we can be of service don't hesitate to reach out 256-679-0704.
no kneed to bring those thangs hear ,, we dont have lectricity dowmn hear .
How far to nearest VA hospital....seems to me 2.5 hours
There are 2 VA hospitals in Alabama, but VA clinics in all major cities. Tuscaloosa is and Montgomery are both 2.5 hours away. www.va.gov/central-alabama-health-care/#:~:text=At%20VA%20Central%20Alabama%20Health,%2C%20their%20families%2C%20and%20caregivers.
Sounds good to me
I’m looking to relocate from Cleveland Heights, Ohio which is a very nice diverse suburb. What neighborhood would you recommend for a family of teens and young adults
Hi Jean - We have lots of family friend neighborhoods. if you'll send an email to tim@revolved.com with your budget, size requirements, must haves, just wants, etc. I'll email you a list of available homes that meet your criteria.
Housing is not cheap if 2500ft for $300,000 is not cheap that's overpriced
This guy is straight out of the 90s
Huntsville is a great escape from city problems. Atleast you can see that the city developers only care about profit and pleasing those who will be spending the most into the local economy other than that it's a bore
Lots of Engineering jobs in Huntsville 👍

Are there homes with basements in Huntsville?
Yessir, lots.
Very few Basements. Our 1st HSV home had a finished BSMT, after looking at 50 houses. We sold it, and went rural HSV. No BSMT now.
I bet there are a lot of Floridians flocking there.
Love to understand Alabama better my Grand father lived their and he used to play drums for the big band era. 🥰 curious about taxes, leaders we are interested outside of the city how is housing outside of city?? I do like diversity (no wokeness) lots of great food and learning cultures, what about small and middle size businesses? Cons of Big corporations is they take away business from small and medium businesses and they change culture that makes the town so cool in the first place plus they are are imposing their politics and one world dominance. People are moving because they want to get away from the terrible taxes and government over reach believe me I know I live on west side of US, PEOPLE if you move to these neat towns that actually have morals, family culture is important please leave any woke politics dont bring it to these wonderful states. Lol love the stickies great visual 🤣 #Freedomfirst #dontchangesmalltowns
I WAS BORN IN HUNTSVILLE, AL 71 YRS. AGO. I LOVE BEING HERE, THERE IS SO MUCH THAT I CAN DO HERE!! I WOULD NEVER DREAM OF GOING ANYWHERE ELSE. HUNTSVILLE IS MY HOMETOWN. PLEASE DON'T PUT DON'T HUNTSVILLE!!
Amen Marie!!
Don't move here stay where you're at
Please for the love of god don't move to Madison. I
saw three car crashes yesterday, we don't got the
god Damn roads for more people
Too many people. Streets are not big enough. Run away!! Houses are too expensive now. It's not worth it.
Is the racism as bad as Tennessee?
I don’t think so but I live my life. I could care less about a racist. I lived in the COUNTRY of AL for about 5-6 months and I didn’t have anything drastic happen.
You realize that nobody can read your little post-its! Your presentation would be much better if you had visual aids, photos of the places you're talking about, i.e., nature, recreation, etc. just like realtors show when selling homes.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll make note of it for future reference. Have a great day.
