We have had several clients move here from AZ. It's always interesting to see how they react to how green the Huntsville area is. Also, I had a client move here from Peyton, CO. She was worried about our tornadoes until they had one in Peyton. Feel free to reach out if you have questions while weighing your options.
It’s funny when I see people talking about heat. I live in Dallas Texas and in the summer,It’s like crawling in the devils oven. Cool off at night nope still hot as hell and now you can’t see anything.
Grew up outside of Huntsville, still have family there. I have no idea why anyone would rank it Number 1 Best place to live. If it came in at 30th best place, I might be able to understand that. I think somebody got paid off somewhere down the line to say it was #1. I just can't see the appeal.
It's all subjective to me, although they had objective measures. USNAWR seems to really love the Huntsville Metro Area. We place very high no matter what they are ranking.
There’s a plague of carpenter bees here. The males don’t sting, the females will if you aggravate them. They make you think they will sting, by dive bombs you . And there’s a lot of people moving here from other states. And this creates traffic issues, housing issues and people moving into Huntsville being their customs and attitude and driving habits with them. At one point we had bidding wars for houses that were for sale. And dont get me started on the Huntsville/ Madison thing.
Don’t know why she is dogging Huntsville out. My cousin Tiffany Kelley was murdered by two humans that was from Mobile, Al. They ran away and ended up here. Asked her for a ride from one store to another. She was ok with that because my family helps everyone no matter what. They decided they wanted her car that didn’t half run well, stabbed her, threw onto green cove road, took her car to a town near Mobile and burned her car. They were caught within a week. But for her to say we are mean, She has that all wrong.
Anybody have any info on the medical marijuana law in Alabama? Moving from California and use it to help deal with my pain from a severe illness. Definitely don’t want to go back to using narcotics, but I’m finding it hard to find updated information. I saw they passed the medical marijuana bill several years ago, but as far as I can tell, no one has access to it? Any info is greatly appreciated.
@chrissymarie7903 I don't have much info, as I haven't tracked that bill. The newest info I can find shows that it has been a very slow process from legalization to availability. Here's a link to the Medical Cannabis Commission's website amcc.alabama.gov/news/ You have probably already been to their website, but I wanted to give you the link just in case you haven't visited their site.
Weather - you didn't mention the significant issues during the winter when Huntsville Power had to institute rolling blackouts across the area due to poor grid management.
I have lived in Huntsville most of my life, we don't have tornadoes every year. You will need your air conditioner. We get into the 90's and above in the summer and spring is very short. Summer is long.
Ohio is so cold I used to live in Akron and I still love Akron but I used to be a home health aide and man it is so cold cleaning the snow off your car if it wasn't for that I will move back to Ohio but the snow I cannot take
Huntsville, Alabama is a city with christian values and churches on every corner. The weather is good and better than most places. It is growing by leaps and bounds, everywhere you go it is like this. If you do not want to live in a christian city do not move to Huntsville Al.
Cameron was our realtor when we looking for a place to buy and I can't recommend him and praise him highly enough. This is an informative video. There are one or two points that Cameron omitted to mention. First, no mass transit worth the name. Other similarly sized cities like Tucson and Tulsa have some skeletal bus system but I blush to call what Huntsville has as a mass transit system. You have to drive everywhere and the traffic is growing steadily worse as the infrastructure cannot keep pace with the population increase. Secondly, there's hardly any social or cultural life worth the name. But then, this place is part of the Deep South. Dining and shopping options are also severely circumscribed. Thirdly, and not necessarily a negative, Huntsville is a military-industrial hub and this has an impact on the character of the city. Again, not saying it's a bad thing. I think the Huntsville metro area is preferable to places such as Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Chattanooga. But that's not really saying much, is it?
I lived there for 10 years. I still go into the city to buy specialty foods and things of that nature. Huntsville has a large Seventh Day Adventist population and has Oakwood University which also means Huntsville has a few places that sell foods one cannot find in most other places in Alabama. That said driving into and around the city is annoying and potentially dangerous, so I prefer to limit my trips.
Somehow I think summer in Huntsville is nowhere near as bad as it is here in Houston. I’ll take occasional tornadoes over hurricanes any day. Flooding? Don’t get me started. Harvey survivor here. By the way, the roaches here can fly.
@@CameronWalkerRealty There are back yard mosquito control systems that are getting traction here. Oh, here in Houston we have two types of mosquitos- the small ones that fly through the screen to bite you, and the huge ones that fly through the screen to bite you. Cedar chips are good for Southern insect control, as are cedar oil based sprays.
Yes, Huntsville and the surrounding areas receive hail on occasion. I've seen pea sized hail in person, and know of people who have had their roofs replaced due to hail damage.
@Cameron Walker absolutely I won't lie tho its getting a little to big for me lol and I live in hg I tell people if it gets any bigger they're gonna chase me farther into the woods haha
Hey John, I appreciate you watching. Huntsville is a great place to live, but it's not right for everyone. My goal is to inform people, and that means sharing the good and the bad. However, I can only present my viewpoint; other people will see things differently. If you have specific reasons not to consider Huntsville then please let me know. Feedback is always appreciated, and if you're thinking it then likely other people are as well. Your reasons may impact future videos, and that would benefit everyone who watches.
I'm looking at Huntsville as a possible relocation, Arizona is great but expensive. I've delt with Tornadoes in Colorado Springs when I lived there.

Hi Cameron, always great to watch your videos! Any tips for a new immigrant relocating to Huntsville who needs to find a place to rent?
Yes. Please don't move to Huntsville. Ohio is WAY better.

U just left Huntsville two years ago! I don’t regret it

Don't like the heat in North Alabama?
Take up cave exploring. There are a lot of caves.
My kids just did Cathedral Caverns on Spring Break, and they are begging to go back with the family.

Huntsville got those hugh flying roaches too.

We do not have tornadoes in Huntsville every year. We are in the South so it's going to be hot and humid and lots of insects.
i dont lke* no one. but, I just couldnt turn it off. Thank U.
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you liked it.
I got so many reasons NOT to move to California! Guess what they are?
Well I was definitely about to make a mad comment because huntsville is the best lol

Yeah don’t move here we are busting at the seams.
I love these comments. We have almost 3 months of inventory. The only thing busting are the builders' profits.
Thanks for 7 more reasons…
